I want to be able that if I am using another one, like notepad, I dont loose the focus to the one called by my application. I have test it changing the startinfo.windows style ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...ndowstyle.aspx ) from Normal, minimized and hidden.Every one I have used make notepad loose the focus to the new launched application. View 7 Repliesi just recently started programming VB.net 2010, My background is PHP so programming is what i want to do.I have a program im making, kinda a project for myself.I have got alot of the design elements made, but im stuck on some of the items that i would like created.
1. I have Combo boxes, the names of them are "wowlocation", "wowreagon". these all have default values. How would i go into the registry get the values and if i change it it would auto put it into the registry.
2. I have a file in foulder named "realmd.***" when i choose my options from the boxes it must put what i selected into the file (The file is a normal txt file with the ext *** only), it has to pull the "wowlocation" and "wowreagon" from the DB, when it does that it is able to pick the right thing to put on,There is only 3 Values, US, EU and WTN, each will have its own text to put into the file, how would i Open that Specific file and then write the values i choose?
3. How do i make a Image Launch a Program? (The location of the file is in the registery, basicly "wowlocation/wow.exe" ?
4. I have a Status Image, i have a spasific IP, I need to check if its responding, if not itll change a image to down.png and if its responding itll change the image to up.png, picturebox name "statusimg"?
I am creating a web browser as a school project. One feature I hope to include involves a splash screen check the state of a Boolean (True/False) at launch and then open the appropriate form. I know that I will need an 'If' statement in the code of a splash screen but I am not sure how I would go about making it do this.

View 1 RepliesI am currently working on a launcher, and it must consist of the following:
- one main routine being called, NO WINDOW may be created at any times after or before this main routine.
- one small form called by the main routine if a certain command was sent through the Command (shortcut).
At this point I use a Windows Form, but it seems a little useless to create and initialize a form if you won't even use it. Any way to make a routine run when my program starts without showing any window? But still make it possible to show that small dialog?
I did this at first but it seems a bit dangerous:

i have seen people say use the shell command but i cant get it right the button code name is Button1
When running an executable file (written in FORTRAN) directly, there is no problem creating output text files. However, when launched from Visual Basic Express 2008, those reports are not generated. I also observe that the program launched from VB does not wait for a user prompt as it should. What am I missing?

I am trying to open and close application by clicking open and close buttons The application I am trying to open is .bat files and it contains 4 windows.(tftp32, Date_Time_Reader.exe, EthernetHPNA.exe and network535.exe)

The above codes works fine and open all the windows but I cant close them.

But the issue is, if i work with any other application in maximized mode then the popup windows is going behind. View 11 RepliesI want my form to never dissapear unless instructed to do so by code. I build a desktop gadget that stays there even when multiple other windows are open, but if the "Show Desktop" button is clicked on the taskbar it will dissapear completely (until another window, whatever that might be, is opened, in which case it pops up again).Take Windows Gadgets as an example. If you click "show desktop" they do not dissapear, they are stuck to the desktop and are constant, and only dissapear when you click the exit button on the gadget. Is there a similar method i can implement for my own form so that it never dissapears?
