"WinWait": Stops script execution until the specified window exists.
The window does not need be active.
e.g. Wait forever for the notepad window.

I am trying to show a message box when an error occurs in a modal dialog window but for some reason the message box is never shown although I know the MessageBox.Show method is being hit. The try catch block is inside of an event handler for a windows form that is being shown as a modal dialog. I know that the event is being fired and that the error is being caught but the message box never opens. I've replaced the MessageBox.Show with another form show and it works fine but I'd rather use MessageBox instead of creating my own error form. I just can't seem to make MessageBox work. Is this a limitation of MessageBox? Here is a simplified version of what I am doing:

I'm getting spotty results trying to build a procedure that queries Yahoo finance, retrieves a stock quote and then passes the HTML body contents to a text variable. Using a WebBrowser control, it works in a 2 step fashion, using a textbox to input the symbol and a button to trigger navigation. After the WebBrowser window fills, I can pull the contents out of the browser window. In this case, it's just one number to keep things simple. The working code appears below:

I am working on a game launcher, and I need to display a "Splash screen" until the main game has started. For this, I need to know whether or not the Process has a Main window that is fully loaded and displayed.Now I noticed the main window handle is 0 when there is none, so I tried to use that:[code]But the handle never becomes nonzero. I tried to use the title but to no avail.I do not want to go into "Thread.wait()" since then the splash would remain even if the game is already launched.
View 4 RepliesI've created a form with several controls to specify the inputs to my program. They include TextBox, OpenFileDialog, Button and even a user control for numeric input. When the user clicks the 'GO' button, the program begins it work. Opening several files and processing a bunch of numerical data. This could take many minutes/hours with large datasets.
What I've been trying to do is have another window/form open up and send status information to it for the user to view. The info to be displayed is varied and constantly updated as the program crunches the numbers. Many many programs do just this type of activity.
I attempted to create a second form with a huge TextBox thinking I'd just write stuff to it. I called the .show method within the .click of the 'GO' button and of course the form is displayed but control of the program's execution doesn't return until the form is closed. How to I maintain execution and have a second window/form to display status?

How do I make it when you type in a number above or below 1 and 100 the messagebox comes up? I can only make the msgbox come up after Ive clicked the button, how do I make it automatically come up when I try to click anywhere else?
im using im using key pressed to achieve this you can see a space towards the end of the code(this is where i want the delay) where i want to make the application wait/delay for a certain amount of time allowing the following screen to load and then carry on?

View 19 RepliesIn my program, if something goes wrong an ErrorForm is supposed to show up and tell what was going wrong.
And if the error is a "fatal type", then I want the program just display the ErrorForm (which gives some information about the error), wait for a button press, and then close the program (terminate run).
In case of error, the form is displayed.. That's good.
But as the program is supposed to terminate after showing the error form, the error form disappears immediately after showing up (so it doesn't allow the user any time to read what's going wrong).
How can I make the program wait until a button press (on the error form) and then terminate?
I want to make a program that's constantly running on the background and when I hit a specific combination of keys (example ctrl + alt + A) on any application it does *stuff*.

I can't just put the code to be executed after the event directly into the Click handler, because many different sections of code need to stop and wait for the event. View 2 RepliesOK I am probably going to completely fail but I thought I would just try making an SMTP server (which came from another thread on here I was posting in earlier). At the moment I am just concentrating on RECEIVING emails via SMTP, I dont care about sending them yet.So the first thing I want to do is just make my server program be able to receive a simple HELO command from Telnet on port 25. Simple enough eh? Apparently not The problem I have is that my program starts reading the data as soon as 1 character is typed into telnet, rather than it waiting for the telnet user to press Enter before it starts to process the command. I've had a look around and looked at Athiest's examples but cant figure out how to make it wait. Here is what I have so far:

While navigating to a series of sites at one site the WebBrowser control's DocumentCompleted EVENT is tripped and no other recorded Browser events occur after that. When this happens the hour glass cursor indicates the browser is waiting. From this point it take 120 to 250 seconds of wall clock time before the browser resumes. I am looking for a way to force an abnormal termination without destroying the control. I have tried "Stop", "nav to about:blank" repeatedly without success. How can I force an abnormal termination when the Cntrl is in a wait state?
Consider the following: The last known Browser event to be tripped is a Document Complete event; nothing else occurs after this. When this transpires the Cntrl is waiting.

But the issue is, if i work with any other application in maximized mode then the popup windows is going behind. View 11 RepliesI want my form to never dissapear unless instructed to do so by code. I build a desktop gadget that stays there even when multiple other windows are open, but if the "Show Desktop" button is clicked on the taskbar it will dissapear completely (until another window, whatever that might be, is opened, in which case it pops up again).Take Windows Gadgets as an example. If you click "show desktop" they do not dissapear, they are stuck to the desktop and are constant, and only dissapear when you click the exit button on the gadget. Is there a similar method i can implement for my own form so that it never dissapears?
