I made a UserControl with a button on it. I then added that UC to a form by dragging from the toolbox. Now I want to be able to access the click event of the button on that UC control in the form code. How do I do that?
Project1 builds ShellControl.dll.One of the forms in Project 1 contains the event "Public Event CommandEntered As EventCommandEntered".
Project 2 builds the Windows Form application TestApp which use ShellCopntrol.dll built by Project1.Form1 in Project 2 contains the following statements: Imports ShellControl.UILibrary.ShellControl
I have two forms, "Customer Information Summary" and "Products Sold". They are shown as separate tabs in a MDI window. When the data in "Products Sold" gets updated, I would like an event to fire from that form which could be handled in the "Customer Information Summary" form.
I have done this the other way many times as it makes sense (the page knows about the control as it has been added to the page and can handle the 'child' event)
Is it possible to do it the other way? I think not as the control doesn't know what page it is going to be on
The reason i ask this is that I have a modal popup on the page to ask users to login, and it is only when the user has logged in that I want my user control to go away and execute some code but I am not too sure how to tell the control this has happend?
In a Windows Form application I have a Form with a UserControl that contains a child control. I have an event handler for the child control's Validating event. On the parent UserControl I call the ValidateChildren() method. But the event handler for the child control's Validating event does not run. The CausesValidation property is set to true on both the parent UserControl and the child control. Is there any reason why the Validating event handler would not run?
The child control is a custom control derived from Panel. It contains two RadioButton controls, both of which have their CausesValidation property set to true.
The following code works perfectly to allow moving a control on a form at run-time. However, when AutoScroll is set to True on Form1, and you drag Button1 past the right and/or bottom bounds of the form, it goes haywire. I really need someway to smoothing control the autoscroll so that as you scroll the control off the form, the scrollbars smoothly appear.
during the development of my project, i've the need to raise the paint event of a form, to make it with rounded angle. The strange thing is that, when i use the invalidate comand on it, the repaint event (that sometimes doesn't go and i don't know why), doesn't make it like i need, that is, the dimension of the side is one instead of six pixel, and the angle are rounded, but the border is not visible.
I'm instantiating an instance of FormQuoteCard from formQuoteList, formQuoteCard has an event and I'm adding an event handler to form1, but when i raise the event in form2, nothing happens:
How should I go about getting my mouse position over multiple controls, and such. I can't use the form_mouse move event, or any other control event nor can I use them all at the same time cause that would conflict with the actual position I need for an object.
just now I was trying to capture the F1 key on the form, but only managed when the form is selected, and I need to detect it in any form control. I used this code:
Select Case e.KeyCode Case Keys.F1 MsgBox("Right") e.Handled = True End Select
I'm working a program where I need to capture the mouse down even at the form level. I need this to happen regardless of where the mouse is clicked. The standard mouse event (see below) works fine if the mouse isn't over a control. However, when the mouse is over a control, the control gets the event before the form. I can generate an event to capture the mouse event for every control and the pass the event on, but that is ugly and requires way to much maintenance. Isn't there a way to tell vb that all mouse events go to the form?
A few weeks ago I wrote a wrapper for the ServiceController control to enhance and streamline the base ServiceController. One of the changes I made was to add a monitoring component using the System.Threading.Timer object. On any change of status, an event is raised to the parent class. The actual monitoring works fine, but when the event is handled in the main form, my program abruptly ends - no exceptions, no warning, it just quits. [code]...
I am creating a user control where when a user clicks a button a popup window will show up with information. The popup window is driven by a toolStripDropDown so when it shows up it does 2 things
Does not move the other controls on the form around but displays over them That it can show the details outside the bounds of the user control itself without having to reserve the space ahead of time
Here is some code
Public Class Popup Private treeViewHost As ToolStripControlHost Private Shadows dropDown As ToolStripDropDown
[Code].....
Now my issue is as the form moves or resizes the Tooldropdown does not move relative. I understand that. When I try to capture the move event of the user control that event does not fire when the entire form moves. There has to be something I can capture because the controls in the container of the form move relative, what drives that? I tried wndproc but nothing fires during form move unless the form is repainted.
I have a user control that I have added a listbox to. I have added this control to a form and would like to use its click event. Private Sub mycontrol1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles mycontrol1.Click When I click on the control on the form it does nothing none of the code for this event gets triggered. If I click on the listbox inside the user control that .click event inside the control does trigger. How can I make the click event for the user control trigger when the control is clicked?
Problem that you may have when dealing with two objects that are raising some events. Here, to make it obvious, I am closing the form, but the problem can be experienced with any other 2 classes event. First, what is the problem !
Let suppose that by pressing a button, you want to raise a custom event, then execute a method and then close the form
In that case, you may use a code similar to this
Event BeepIt()
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click RaiseEvent BeepIt()
Im Using VB 2008. I have MsgBox() statements in all Mouse & Form Click events to TEST & NOTHING FIRES during Form Load when I click on Form or Button Controls !!! The Form Load event contains code for Displaying the Label.Text control many times with changes in the Text to simmulate annimation.
The following zipped up Visual Studio Solution on Skydrive is immediately buildable and runnable; a usercontrol on a Form. Problem? If you click on any of the Edit Buttons and move the Horizontal Scroll, the values as they change in the Label_Values are off by one when you release the slider button. I think this is a timing problem between the Paint handler and the Horizontal Scroll event handler at the very bottom of the User Control code. Sorry I didn't eliminate
When I double click on a form control while in the design view in a Web Application project within Visual Studio 2010, say a 'button' or a 'submit' for example, it inserts a javascript function into my .aspx file. When I do this at work it automatically creates an event handler for the control in the code-behind.How do I change this to that setting?I don't want to type those event handler subroutines every time!
I am still messing around with Cntrl/Copy and Paste from a menustrip. Paste is working fine. The copy is working to a certain extent. It will copy the complete text field from one control to another. how do I determine what is the selected text only. My code below:
Private Sub CopyToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles CopyToolStripMenuItem.Click Dim activeChild As Form = Me.ActiveMdiChild ' Determine the active child form. Dim activeControl As Control = activeChild.ActiveControl
I've got a Panel on a main Form containing a PictureBox control on Top of a TableLayout control. Both the child controls have their docking properties set to Top. The Picture control has sizemode set to Zoom.
What I'm finding is that the picture doesn't size properly when I start the app. There is a border at the top and bottom in the PictureBox control. It's only when I resize the overall form that it's correct.
So at the moment I've got this ugly bit of startup code, just to fix the problem Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Normal Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized
i want to set the CommandTarget property of menu item to the TextControl which is written in win form or just tell me any way which can execute the command lets say cut copy paste on the control which is written in win form user control and added to xaml through WindowsFormsHost
I have a form set up with a few text boxes for first name last name and job title and i got the class for EditDialog. vb. The question is I have to drop some controls onto the form to make a generic add and edit employee dialog. Now would I use the listbox or drag and drop control?
The title pretty much precisely asks the question, but I shall repeat;
When I double click on a form control while in the design view in a Web Application project within Visual Studio 2010, say a 'button' or a 'submit' for example, it inserts a javascript function into my .aspx file. When I do this at work it automatically creates an event handler for the control in the code-behind.How do I change this to that setting? I have used '/resetsettings' already, and other answers to similar questions do not solve my problem. I have reinstalled, gone through every menu I can find (though I may have missed something)I don't want to type those event handler subroutines every time!
