A few weeks ago I wrote a wrapper for the ServiceController control to enhance and streamline the base ServiceController. One of the changes I made was to add a monitoring component using the System.Threading.Timer object. On any change of status, an event is raised to the parent class. The actual monitoring works fine, but when the event is handled in the main form, my program abruptly ends - no exceptions, no warning, it just quits. [code]...
I am developing a form application in VB .Net with a main thread and two other threads that reading values from two serial ports, do some work and raising events to return values when each thread ends. The handlers for the events are in my main thread. Is there any possibility the two threads to raise events the same time or some other event (button click event for example) raised the same time with a thread finished event? What happened then? Is there a way to make asynchronous event raising?
I have three asp.net textbox and button on my asp.net webform namely textbox1, textbox2, textbox3, button1 i want if integer value of textbox2 will be substracted from textbox1 then result will be displayed in textbox3 and textbox1 and textbox2 value will remain the same ....on buttonclick event ...
How should I go about getting my mouse position over multiple controls, and such. I can't use the form_mouse move event, or any other control event nor can I use them all at the same time cause that would conflict with the actual position I need for an object.
I am attempted to write a small asynchronous socket library that I can use to create a client/server application. I can get all of the code to run fine if I leave it in the form, however if I try to move it out into its own class, I cannot figure out how to update the form with connection status, things like that. Below is code, shortened a bit just to make this easier to read and type.
[Code]....
There is actually more to that class, but I never get anything after the first message goes out. I'm not sure where to go from here. I've tried lots of different methods that I've found on the google searches, some from here, some not.
I have a class that gets 2 label controls passed to it byRef. So, while my class is being executed I want the labels on the form to be updated. This works Most of the time, but sometimes it seems the form stops updating till the class has finished its process...below is some of the code that I am using to do this...
Public Class clsImportWWDB Implements IDisposable Private strSearchTag As String = "" 'Last Tagname of value scanned Private intMeldsFound As Int32 = 0 'Number of Alarm Messages Found Private _MyForm As Windows.Forms.Form Private _FileName As String [Code] .....
just now I was trying to capture the F1 key on the form, but only managed when the form is selected, and I need to detect it in any form control. I used this code:
Select Case e.KeyCode Case Keys.F1 MsgBox("Right") e.Handled = True End Select
This probably shouldn't be too hard for someone to answer...even though I've spent 2 days trying to get it right. ::sigh::
I have a RichTextBox1 on my form. I need it to update every half second pulling HTML off of my webpage. I USED to have it update every half second with timers but everything keeps getting clogged and I realized I have to multi-thread.
My code so far is
Imports System.Threading Public Class Form1 Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
[Code]....
(This is an example of code from the bigger project) So I guess my question is how do I send out about 10 of these threads (Will the sleep suffice? Or will that just pause everything making it inefficient for multithreading at all and basically turn it into a timer), and what is the proper way to make the thread post the 'responseFromServer' to the RichTextBox1 in a safe way?
I can't get it to post at all because I know there's some invoke trick I can't figure out so I don't cross the threads like in ghost busters, and also if multiple threads are trying to post to it at once I'm going to need a protected way to do this.
I'm working a program where I need to capture the mouse down even at the form level. I need this to happen regardless of where the mouse is clicked. The standard mouse event (see below) works fine if the mouse isn't over a control. However, when the mouse is over a control, the control gets the event before the form. I can generate an event to capture the mouse event for every control and the pass the event on, but that is ugly and requires way to much maintenance. Isn't there a way to tell vb that all mouse events go to the form?
I tried to update the button text on a form from a backgroundworker.do_work event, and it failed, with the usual cross-thread exception message. However, by pure chance, I also tried to update text in a system.windows.form.toolstripstatuslabel also from this backgroundworker.do_work event, and it DOES work. Question: why is this? Is it perhaps because theres some kind of implicit shared behaviour with system.windows.form.toolstripstatuslabel?
I am creating a user control where when a user clicks a button a popup window will show up with information. The popup window is driven by a toolStripDropDown so when it shows up it does 2 things
Does not move the other controls on the form around but displays over them That it can show the details outside the bounds of the user control itself without having to reserve the space ahead of time
Here is some code
Public Class Popup Private treeViewHost As ToolStripControlHost Private Shadows dropDown As ToolStripDropDown
[Code].....
Now my issue is as the form moves or resizes the Tooldropdown does not move relative. I understand that. When I try to capture the move event of the user control that event does not fire when the entire form moves. There has to be something I can capture because the controls in the container of the form move relative, what drives that? I tried wndproc but nothing fires during form move unless the form is repainted.
I have a user control that I have added a listbox to. I have added this control to a form and would like to use its click event. Private Sub mycontrol1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles mycontrol1.Click When I click on the control on the form it does nothing none of the code for this event gets triggered. If I click on the listbox inside the user control that .click event inside the control does trigger. How can I make the click event for the user control trigger when the control is clicked?
I've read thru Iceplug's tutorial on control arrays and got it working. I tried to add a new event by basically copying his click event code and calling it a doubleclick event. I used the proper addhandler and assigned the correct name to my sub. I have the click event changing the background color to blue and the doubleclick event changing the background color to green. The background color does not change to green. Why?
Heres the tutorial with my new code encased in asterisks ...
I made a UserControl with a button on it. I then added that UC to a form by dragging from the toolbox. Now I want to be able to access the click event of the button on that UC control in the form code. How do I do that?
The following zipped up Visual Studio Solution on Skydrive is immediately buildable and runnable; a usercontrol on a Form. Problem? If you click on any of the Edit Buttons and move the Horizontal Scroll, the values as they change in the Label_Values are off by one when you release the slider button. I think this is a timing problem between the Paint handler and the Horizontal Scroll event handler at the very bottom of the User Control code. Sorry I didn't eliminate
Objective to clear the datagrid view after updating. This should happen when the user clicks the OK button when the update is confirmed. Below is what i have.I currently have
Private Sub SaveToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles SaveToolStripMenuItem.Click 'This updates datsource Try
When I double click on a form control while in the design view in a Web Application project within Visual Studio 2010, say a 'button' or a 'submit' for example, it inserts a javascript function into my .aspx file. When I do this at work it automatically creates an event handler for the control in the code-behind.How do I change this to that setting?I don't want to type those event handler subroutines every time!
I am using VB.NET for Windows applications. What is the difference between Load event,Activate event and Enter event in the Form and in which order the above event is executed.
The title pretty much precisely asks the question, but I shall repeat;
When I double click on a form control while in the design view in a Web Application project within Visual Studio 2010, say a 'button' or a 'submit' for example, it inserts a javascript function into my .aspx file. When I do this at work it automatically creates an event handler for the control in the code-behind.How do I change this to that setting? I have used '/resetsettings' already, and other answers to similar questions do not solve my problem. I have reinstalled, gone through every menu I can find (though I may have missed something)I don't want to type those event handler subroutines every time!
I've created my own ascx control with button inside it. Now I'm using this control inside other control. (In my case it is a webpart). What I would like to do is program button.click logic from my custom control inside webpart
I'm trying to execute different code depending on the button clicked (button 4 or 5) on Form1, but when I click on button5 to activitae the code on the Form2's Load event everything is Ok, but when I click the back button to return to Form 1 and click on the Button4 to activate the code on the Form2's Load event again, it doesn't active the Form's Load event, is there a way to form the form load event every time I access it from Form1?
