I have 2 forms. I am calling form2 from a button click in form1. I want through the button click to set the location of form2 by setting X,Y cordinates. I have tried this but nothing happens:
form2.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(100, 15)
form2.Show()

I have a program that has a large weather map which is 1920 x 1080 resolution. The start location is (0,0). I want people who use smaller resolutions to be able to see the whole map. I would like to create a button that allows me to shift the form down or right say 10 pixels each time the button is clicked. How would I do this?

I am calling a program that runs in DOS screen.Is it possible to position this screen to always open exactly same cordinates relative to my FORM1 screen?Or is it possible to run the FORM1 to start at same screen cordinates all the time?
The Code:
Sub Install1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Install1.Click
instance = Process.Start(Application.StartupPath & "Driver.exe")
instance.WaitForExit()
End Sub

I'm having trouble setting a form's location in the load event.
config_set = File.ReadDatabaseKey(Public_Variables.settings_radar, _
"Window Position X", Public_Variables.config, Public_Variables.config_path, 5)
If Misc.GetContainsOnlyNumbers(config_set) Then
Me.Location.X = CInt(config_set)
End If

I was using this old method of creating a bunch of rectangles when I need to get the location of a certain point within a grid so I could draw images on the grid. The thing is, I don't want to use rectangles, I want to be able to just round the location as if I were using rectangles. I need it to be able to round the point (66,70) to (50,50) so if you can imagine a grid and the mouse position being within that square in the grid, I need to get the location of the upper left corner of that square.

I'm trying to animate my window's location. I have a window, and when I click on my button, I want the window to move smoothly 100px from it's current location.
Example:
Private Sub minimize_button_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs) Handles minimize_button.Click
Dim windowsize as integer = window1.top
windowsize = windowsize - 100
End Sub
But with XAML animation. I have no idea how to make this animation in this type of scenario.

recommend the cleanest way to save / restore a winform's location and state? For some time now I've been using a method similiar to what I posted below (based on the CodeProject: [URL]..The problem with this method is that when the form loads, it is drawn in an initial location, then moved / maximized afterwards. The effect creates somewhat of an eye sore watching the window draw, then quickly update... but in Vista it is a lot more obvious.
What I would like to do is restore a form to it's previously saved location / state invisible to the user, then show it once it's where it needs to be. Or, just know of the ideal way this is supposed to be done - specifically in Vista.

I use VS 2008 Visual Basic and I added windows forms HelpProvider to supply user with more information using F1 button when a windows form is active.No VB coding are used, just help provider and HTML docs. with css.I have created a HTML document and a picture. On both items I have set the [copy to output directory] property to Copy Always.The HTML document starts HTML page and IE is showing the text as expected , but the picture does not appear.I use click once deployment to deliver the system. The HTML documents and picture is located on the user computer after the deployment. How do I add path to a location in a win program with pictures used in a HTML document? What is the correct setting of [ build action ] parameter of these items?

I have a button on my webpage that runs some javascript code:
alert("Will refresh now");
window.location.reload(true);
It works in all the browsers we've tested it in.But when I display that webpage inside my vb.net executable (in a WebBrowser control)... the "refresh" code is definitely run, but it just clears the screen.

During runtime, while (hehe...pun ) doing some operations, part of my windows form turns white, and the buttons don't show, and it doesn't look so user friendly.I am running some processes and I wonder if If its because I am not using the process.waitForExit() function, and I have quite a number of loops...
I want my form to look normal, and preserve the user interaction and all, without whitening out.

I am looking for some help in finding the best way to display a progress window for a module I am working on.I have a VB2008 app using an Access 2007 db. One of the MODULES in the Access db does a masterfile update and I want to show the user what is happening in process.
The VB2008 app calls the Access module to do all the work which is FAR FASTER than having VB2008 do all the work.The goal is to have a small window popup and display the progress. Once the process is done, close the window. How would you do this? Use a Access form? That works but it not clean looking at all. Is there something else that might work better?
Something like a msgbox that opens and can be updated while the process runs. Once the process is done, it can be closed. The user will not need to interact with this window - it's just to show the applications progress.

I have 2 group box components and both are same size,font,location and visible is false. When i click button2, the groupbox1 won't appear(the group box2 is on bottom n group box1 is on top).
Example:
button1
groupbox1.visible=false
groupbox2.visible=true
button2
groupbox1.visible=true
groupbox2.visible=false
Because i want to show the different,so the location have a little different(actually both are same location). I think my code is no problem. The problem i guess is both component cannot locate at same location?

we have a user that my program works fine for.. and another that it just crashes for.. they get this error
"You cannot start application <App_Name> from this location because it is already installed from a different location."
then they run it up again and it comes up.. and then just closes..in reading some stuff online it says its a framework 2.0 sp 1 issue ?these pc's have 3.5, but my program uses all 2.0 stuff..so is this a 2.0 sp level issue ? or should I make my programs start to use framework 3.0 instead ?

I have encounterd a problem when trying to re-enstall a program i have writen in vb 2008.I get the following message:"You cannot start application Shell from this location because it is already installed from a different location."This program is to be used on many workstation computers and i need to be able to update any changes by just reinstalling the program, no uninstalling needed first. If the program was installed from a cd first and needs to be updated from a flash disk this error will be a problem, if the update is from a cd as well then there is no problem.Is there a way to change the installation package to ignore where the program installs from and just update itself?

Try to understand:
1. User Downloads Application
2. User copies files to either desktop or my documents (lets say desktop)
3. User Opens application
4. User clicks the copy button (which is then supported by the COPY code)
The problem is that the copy code supports a Location such as; FileCopy C:UsersAdminFile.txt, E:File.txt
When the user copies the Files to desktop (lets say DIM), they have a different username so if they click Copy the copy code was set for C:UsersAdmin not DIM. I would like the code to be general so whoever copies the files wherever (Desktop, C:, Documents) and they click the copy button, the file is then copied to the Disignated Location.

I have been updating from VB6 to Visual Basic 2008.
My program builds and runs during development. I can run it from the in directory where it is created by default. If I move the executable to another location it and try to run it I get the message "... has stopped working" "Windows is checking for a solution to this problem".
