I have 3 controls in my Form.Two Dropdowns and one textbox.My task is if i select a value in one Combobox then the related text should be display in other two controls.Ok I wrote a code in "SelectionChangeCommitted" event and now i am getting the values correctly.

View 10 RepliesI have a tab control application, each tab loads a particular user control and each of those user controls will then add other user controls that are used amongst other the user controls. For example, I have an "ucQuotes" page and an "ucInventory" page, when the specific tab is selected, the "uc****" user control is loaded on that page, and in the case of "ucQuotes" and "ucInventory" they both use a control called "ucPartNumber"; a user control consisting of a combobox, textbox, and button. I have no issues reusing the shared user controls, in this case. My problem arises with my "ucQuickPrice" control, as it is always present at the bottom of the tab control form (separate from the tabcontrol, but on the same form), and it too uses ucPartnumber.
Here's my issue, as I type into the ucPartnumber combobox, the text I type does not appear in the combobox, it appears in the textbox of the ucPartnumber control that is being used on the tabcontrol page. There are no shared instances of ucPartNumber, nor do I have this issue between typing on one tab page and the text showing on the user control of another tab page.I tried just creating the ucPartNumber controls on the ucQuickPrice control, not adding a new instance of ucPartnumber on the .Load event, and the issue persists.
The combobox(s) in question are bound programmatically with about 40,000 items, ".datasource = dataset.tablename" not to a bindingsource. Autocomplete is set to none, I added code to utilize tool tips and the basic combobox filtering functionality. Is this a bug, or is there something I'm neglecting? I'm about 95% complete with this application, and this just happened today. I made the decision, to just reuse the ucPartNumber control on the ucQuickPrice control (originallly it's size and orientation would not fit, but I added some coding to detect what parent is adding ucPartNumber and to change its appearance accordingly). Before, I made this change, I did not have this problem. And, in trying to go back to how I had things set up before the change, the problem will not go away. if the whole control within a control verbage I used is a bit confusing, let me know and I'll try to better explain what is happening. At this point, I'm going to close and reopen vbexpress, as when I started this ordeal, vb started acting weird and wanted me to save all my work, it usually does this before locking up.
I thought I saw how to do this but can't seem to find it now.Is there a way to set the properties of all controls on a Form by Control Type?Meaning, if I have 5 textboxes on a form can I write code like .If page.contol is TextBox then
textbox.forecolor = Blue
Then when the page loads is sets all the textboxes forecolor on the form to Blue.
How I could go about checking a typed value in a combo to the values in the combo box. I am making a system to select lockerID and Supplier ID I want the user to be able to enter the value in the combo box as well as select the value form the list in the combo box. Here is the code I have been trying.

Again a little (for me) tricky thing:Supose you have a ComboBox control with predefined values - to keep it simple, let's add some colors:
- Blue
- Green
- Red
- Yellow
Now you have a TextBox control as well. If you type into the TextBox BLUE (non-key sensitive) I would like to make it recognize that this value already exists. It does not have to do anything else except for notifying me about a match.I do think that the TextBox1.KeyPress or TextBox1.TextChanged event is what I need but I have no idea how to compare to the ComboBox1 items. I've tried to create an Array of my ComboBox1.Items but didn't get much more than errors. Can anybody help? I am sure it is quite simple however, I can't get my mind set to go in the right direction
This is my first web-based application using VB 2008. I had no idea where to start so I just chose the 'Wpf Browser Application' and started adding the controls on the form and naming them the same as I would do with a normal non-web-based vb app. I ran the XBAB file under bin/debug using IE and the form showed up but I couldn't enter text or anything even though the textbox was set to enabled?
View 7 RepliesI need to test a string of text that needs to contain a certain type of char values. The known is allowing of a-z,A-Z,0-9. But the variable (which will be coming from a database field) will be the allowed symbols. The allowed symbols will look something like:!@#$%^&*()
So using regex, how can I check a string of text to make sure it ONLY contains a-z,A-Z,0-9 AND the allowed symbols as shown above? Remember, the allowed symbols is dynamic at run time so I need to somehow be able to plug that in to the method at run time.
The following examples would be valid using the above symbol string:

Test1234
The following example would NOT be valid:Test1234%_

On form load I load my information into a data grid view but if the user wants to add more information or edit what is selected in the DGV I will enable some text boxes and a combobox to show the selected data. I have not issue loading from the DB into the text boxes but the combo box has me a bit stumped. I have 3 columns in the database, periodno, start date and end date. I want to display the start and end date concatenated together. When the user selects a period and hits the button I want the dates to set a variable with the periodno that matches those dates.

i am working in windows appl vb.net 08. And i am working in Access DataBase.I have one Table Called "Person" . In this "Person" Table one Column Name Called "OtherName". In this Column binded in one of the Combobox in a Form.But the Problem is "OtherName" Column having the Null Values.Before i bind this Column to Combobox i want to convert this NULL Values to String. I'm using vb.net 2008 and I want to be able to format the way numeric values are displayed in the datagridview control.
My datagridview control is being populated from data stored in sql server 2008, what I am after is for a value to always show 2 decimal places, even if the number is a whole number. e.g. '1500' to display as '1500.00'.
I have already tried using the following commands in my sql statements:
CONVERT(MONEY, Value) AS Value
CONVERT(DECIMAL, Value) AS Value
But this doesn't seem to display correctly in the datagridview. for 1500 I get 1500.0000 and 1500

Ive been trying to replicate a listbox type control that ive seen on applications such as: Limewire, excel, etc where there is a Heading in limewires case lets say name, that you can resize to how ever big you want the colomn name to be (like a splitter) is there a control I can easily add or should I keep on working on buttons and resizing =)

All my functions are in a module and I will just call them in main form. So in module how can I find that user control and change its values? I tried writing a function in user control form. So basically what I'm trying to do is write data from an XML file (a "save file") back into the form. My controls are in all different group boxes (makes it much easier for showing and hiding groups of controls dynamically). I thought about and am putting each control's Parent name into the file, but can't figure out how to get that parent name back into the DirectCast within a For...Next loop so it will actually cast the data into the control.

I want to make it so you can type a name into an input box and have it go into your combobox1. Then also have it to where you can load a list of names into your combobox from a text file where the text in the text file would be like this

Do I just bind the TEXT property of the COMBOBOX to the field in the DATATABLE?
This appears to be working fine - but I'm a bit confused about the purpose of SELECTEDVALUE in all this. I'm not binding to that.
