Test A String Of Text That To Contain A Certain Type Of Char Values?
Dec 1, 2011
I need to test a string of text that needs to contain a certain type of char values. The known is allowing of a-z,A-Z,0-9. But the variable (which will be coming from a database field) will be the allowed symbols. The allowed symbols will look something like:!@#$%^&*()
So using regex, how can I check a string of text to make sure it ONLY contains a-z,A-Z,0-9 AND the allowed symbols as shown above? Remember, the allowed symbols is dynamic at run time so I need to somehow be able to plug that in to the method at run time.
The following examples would be valid using the above symbol string:
Test1234%
Test1234
The following example would NOT be valid:Test1234%_

I need validation for string to comply with next: no space char starts with one delimiter char ends with one delimiter char has no other char as delimiter char. Updated sorry missed that should only be one delimiter char at start and at the end

I have the following query
Dim get_rmf_2 = From rmf In t_rmf _
Where rmf!NIVP = nivp_rap
When i run it i get an error :
Operator '=' is not defined for type 'DBNull' and string "test".
I suspect this is because the column "NIVP" in the datatable contains null values, I've tried yhe same thing without null values and it works. So how can i make this work ? ; the column "NIVP" really has a row "test" , and a normal SQL query works fine.

i am working in windows appl vb.net 08. And i am working in Access DataBase.I have one Table Called "Person" . In this "Person" Table one Column Name Called "OtherName". In this Column binded in one of the Combobox in a Form. But the Problem is "OtherName" Column having the Null Values. Before i bind this Column to Combobox i want to convert this NULL Values to String. Why i need the values in STRING means , In my code i using this Combobox as a filter in SQL Query. If i didn`t change the Null Value to STRING , The Combobox SelectedText or SelectedValue is Showing Nothing. So i am not able to get the Record.
Whn i write a Sql Query to Combobox and apply filter in WHERE statement like Combobox.Selectedtext or Combobox.SelectedValue In "Selected Change Committed Event" then i should get the record in the Output right but unfortunatly i am not getting the Record. The Record Count in DebugPrint showing 0.

i have a form with 12 text boxes. I'm trying to get the data from those text boxes to "save", and when that form is opened again have the data be inserted back. This form has different time slots so I need to be able to have it save and repopulate based on what time slot I am clicking on. I was going to have it read the data by splitting it with commas, then inserting them back into the correct fields but it's not working. I had it write the results to a text file and they get written correctly and inserted back, but the problem with that is it only reads that text file so every time slot I open up gets the same data. Below is code I used to get the data when the Save button is clicked. [Code]
Problem is I get an error saying "Char values cannot be converted to Integers" on the first line, the (","c) part. Plus even then I don't know if this would do what I want. EDIT: Ok I fixed the error and got it kind of working, but now I have a new question. Now, I put a button on the form that I can use to load the data when I choose to just to test. This works, it takes the data from each time slot and loads it back when I click the button. New question is how can I get it to load as soon as I open the existing appointment? Putting it in the form load event won't work because it checks for data before there is any in there.

I'm writing a program in which I want to list the values of some of the properties on every control on every form in the application. I can do this for simple controls like Buttons and Labels, but am having a problem when it comes to a complex control like a ListBox. I know how to extract the data when I laboriously code each ListBox individually. The problem is how to do it when it's a generic object buried inside two loops

I have built a DataTable from my database. Then I am looping through the rows and trying to access a string, however the value is being returned as each character in the string.
For Each theseRows In DisplayForm.MainTab.Rows
If theseRows.Item("Last_Name") = userLast And theseRows.Item("First_Name") = userFirst Then
[Code]....
The Trap_Code values are two or three letter strings, the returned value is each letter once at a time. The loop seems to cycle through the individual characters of the string as an array rather than display the entire value, which is what I was hoping for.

The following code:
If checkboxList.Items(i).Selected Then
.Fields("DESC1").Value += checkboxList.Items(i).Text + ", "
End If
should produce output such as "A, B, C,(space)", which will then be bound to a dynamically created GridView. I would like to remove the last two-char string, that is ",(space)". How can I do this?

Basically the first letter of a string must be a certain letter. At the moment the only way I know how to do it is as follows:
If sConsignmentNo(0) = "J" Or sConsignmentNo(0) = "C" Or sConsignmentNo(0) = "U" Or sConsignmentNo(0) = "N" Or sConsignmentNo(0) = "H" Or sConsignmentNo(0) = "S" Or sConsignmentNo(0) = "V" Then
Basically listening the same thing out over and over. Is there a way I can say, If sConsignmentNo(0) = ListOfValidEntries i.e J,C,U,N etc?
Using Visual Basic 2008 and cant use regex!
