Also, I can close the application and when start up again I want to get the time counters as the last time, so How can I store that data is normal txt file (I say txt to take advantage of the ini app file which is a txt).
I have a webserver and I upload files to my webserver from time to time. I have an ftp account which points to public_html that is main directory.
I though why give full access so I created another ftp account (e.g. test) which points to a specific folder. Now when I try to upload a file using test it fails.
For e.g.
the following code works: My.Computer.Network.UploadFile("d:ok.txt", "ftp://mysite.com/Test/okay.txt", "main@mysite.com", "mainpw")
- this is because this a/c has access to root folder of website
I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?
im trying to convert a 24hour time input in a textbox into a 12hour format and place the answer inside another textbox 1345 = 01:45 this and also whats the easiest way to block out a number like "1365" (01:65) from being entered/run ?

Using Visual Basic Express Edition 2008 I have nearly finished my application for checking player numbers in the Irish Lottery main draws. However, I would now like to add a countdown label which shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the next draw. My problem here is that we play the Irish Lottery on a Wednesday and a Saturday. Both draws start at 8.00pm.
It will send a message to a chat you are in every 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 minutes (you get to pick the time)I would like it to add up the total time they are gone (in minutes)so if they are gone for 2 hours and they choose 30 it will add up in a label saying "60". and when you stop it, it will send a message saying "Back from idle gone for "time" minutes. And if I can, Can I convert the minutes into like instead of "gone for 60 minutes" it would be "gone for 1 hour" (if not that's fine, that is just and extra I would like)
The code below finds a string from a text file and, if the correct month, - Monthcheck1, adds it as an item to an unsorted ListBox. I want to run through the text file again to find data for the next month. If I repeat this code for MonthCheck2, nothing is added. My question is: What is the convention for looping through the same file a second or third time?

Im sending packets through UDP, and want to get the time it takes for the server to receive the packet from the client. Would the best way be by adding a timestamp to the packet the client sends, and then use that time with the server to calculate the actual time it took to receive?

I am attempting to display time in a label on my MainForm. The label should display a stopwatch control's elapsed time in hh:mm:ss format. My code is displaying "00:00:00". I have defined the hh, mm and ss as variables but I can't seem to figure out how to use them effectively.
vb Public Sub RefreshTimeElapsed() ' Refreshes time elapsed display. Dim hh As String = Me.MyStopWatch.Elapsed.TotalHours.ToString
I am developing a portion of an application that deals with settings reminders and alarms for personal notes. I am trying to insert from a formatted datetimepicker( formatted to show time only ) the time a user wants to get a reminder of something he/she wants. The column in the MySql database is of type 'Time'. I was never succesfull in entering and saving the data. Either I was getting validation problems not allowing me to exit the datetimepicker after I choose the time. To resolve this issues I just made 'false' the option 'causes validation'. Now the problem is that the time is not inserted getting problems saying that :
Quote: Specified cast is not valid.Couldn't store <01/01/1753 00:00:00> in ntime Column. Expected type is TimeSpan.
here is the code for saving
Dim xtime As DateTime = New DateTime xtime = Me.NtimeDateTimePicker.Value Dim result As DialogResult
[code]....
This time it does not even insert a new row it just updates the last entry I have changing its time. This is strange as this happens only when I use the above two lines.
Ok i got the time and date in 2 datetimepickers called TimePicker and DatePicker.I want so when you click a button it will start counting down to that date and time. I dont know where to start can anyone give me some guidance. Or example code would be great.
I am currently running through a loop with 20 threads. These loops contain a series of 3 HTTPWebRequests (relatively CPU intensive). At the beginning, CPU usage never spiked above 10%. After about 7 hours of run time, CPU is spiking up to over 40%. I believe that this will eventually lead to the program crashing (it has before in less time, I modified some things and it seems to be running longer). What kind of intense CPU spikes are associated with threading? More importantly, how can the duration of runtime affect CPU usage by so much?
if the current hour is less than 21:00 (today) then show the remaining time in label3 as hh:mm:ss remaining. However, if the current hour is greater than 21:0
I know a Date time picker is dropdown activated but is it possible to have just the calander poping out, or should I start programining my own calander?
I've got a fun little question for you all. I am designing a program that allows you to click on a picture to input data in certain areas. What I want to do it pretty allow someone to take a look at a picture. Click the add point tool, then select an area on the picture where it places a circle. I then want them to be able to go back to the circle and modify data if necessary
When I run my VB application (as far as I know any application) within Visual Studio I get a bunch of exceptions listed in the Immediate Window. They seem to refer to system files, not the files I generate. They also keep generating as the program processes data. Here is a sample.
Quote:
A first chance exception of type 'System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException' occurred in mscorlib.dll A first chance exception of type 'System.ArgumentException' occurred in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll
[Code].....
Any thoughts as to what this is and whether it is a problem. The applications seem to run fine.
