The refresh routine i have used will only work once....This program is part of an application i am writing to allow users to customize/modify the windows xp source.Here is my code:

Way To Refresh Desktop Wallpaper
Feb 14, 2011I have a logon script which changes the desktop brackground picture in the registry. The only problem is this change isn't applied until the user logs off and on again. I currently use a small program which uses SHChangeNotify(&H8000000, &H1000, 0, 0) but this will not refresh the wallpaper. I was also hoping this would refresh the Taskbar because I change a registry setting which removes a toolbar.

Nov 9, 2011I am using VB.net in VS2008.I wrote a screensaver that cycles through pictures. When the screensaver exits it sets the desktop background to the last picture loaded using API call SystemParametersInfo(SPI_SETDESKWALLPAPER, 0, sFilePath, SPIF_UPDATEINIFILE Or SPIF_SENDWININICHANGE).The desktop wallpaper refreshes for WinXP and Vista but not Win7.In Win7, if I run the screensaver as an EXE then the desktop background changes when the program ends. If I run it as a screensaver I need click on the desktop and press F5 before the desktop shows the new desktop background (or click and drag with the mouse to show pieces of the new desktop background).I have tried to add delays and even force a refresh by using SHChangeNotify(SHCNE_ASSOCCHANGED, SHCNF_IDLIST, Nothing, Nothing) but with no success.

When switching to a new desktop it starts a new instance of my app in that desktop (works) and on the form load event it says process.start("explorer.exe") <- here is the problem. It only shows a window not the actually bar.Also this may be important it shows the window, but when I navigate to explorer.exe 'C:Windowsexplorer.exe' and open it there. The explorer bar does show up.

Apr 1, 2009I have a client database, with a form which shows a full list of all my clients in a DataGridView. The Load Event of the form fills the dataset - which works fine.
Under the DataGridView I have a link to 'add a new client' which opens a new form and prompts the user for the new client's details. On clicking Save, it excecutes a SQL stored procedure to insert the new client directly into the SQL database. This also works fine.
On closing the 'Add new client' form, it returns to the form with the DataGrid (which was always visible). However, the DataGridView (populated from my DataSet) doesn't show the newly added client.

I made sure the call was being executed by sticking a MsgBox line in the procedure, so I know it runs - yet it doesn't update or refresh the DataSet.This is exactly the same code that is in the Form Load event, so why does it not work? If I close the main form and re-open it, it reloads the DataSet and shows the newly added record.I've also tried putting the code in other Events rather than Form Closing and still it does not work.

IDE :: Visual Studio 2008 IDE Refresh?
Nov 21, 2008is anyone else having a refresh issue of the overal IDE. When I switch between my code behind and my form pages in both web projects and windows forms projects, the design page does a complete refresh about 75% of the time. Changing ID names to form controls takes forever due to another refresh.Also, loading of web projects take forever, even ones I have just started that have only 2 or 3 pages in them. It's like the design interface needs an optimization of some sort.It seems to me that Visual Studio 2008 is not as robust and efficient as 2005. When VS2008 SP1 was released, I was hoping I would see these things go away, but they have not. Are these issues that others are experiencing as well, or do I have an isolated issue?If others are experiencing, any ETA from Microsoft on a fix?

Jan 27, 2010I have several custom controls inside my project, just added a new class and then inherit the original control. For example i have a Custom DataGridView Control (CustDGV), that defines several properties in the constructor of the control.Now i have one problem and one issue, the problem, if i change the CustDGV i don't know why, the forms that are using the control doesn't update the changes... The only way it's removing and adding it again.. not very useful when i have several event's already defined for the dgv.How do i force the form to update the control?The issue it's that some of the properties doesn't get applied, for example i set the column header height and the disable resizing in the constructor, but if i run the code this two properties doesn't get applied, i need to define them in the form where i use the control to get the results that i expect..The order of the properties in the constructor? The properties in the properties window override the constructor ones?

May 24, 2010I have a form whith a DataGridView.When the DGV is double-clicked another form opens representing a single record. When this form updates back to the database and closes, how can I automatically refresh the DataSet in the original form containing the DataGridView? As it stands now the original form still contains the deleted record.I suppose handling the original form's Focus/Lost Focus events and refresh the DataSet might work, but is this route a bad idea?

Dec 11, 2009I have a VB.NET application and a timer that refreshes the webbrowser every 5 seconds on the application. Now it works 100% fine with Windows Vista. It also works fine on another computer that has Windows XP. But when i come to run this application on my server that has Windows XP installed the application will just not refresh. Is there anything that i can do to code it to FORCE refresh the browser every 5 seconds?

Feb 9, 2010I have a datagridview in Visual Studio 2008. I am using the binding navigator to add rows to the grid. I have two text boxes on the form that I am using as the data entry method. I have dragged these onto the form as details items from the dataset and placed them below the datagrid.
I hit add item item on the navigator, fill out the test boxes and then hit the save button on the navigator and it sends the data to the database but is doesn't not update the datagrid. The only way that I can seem to correctly display the new row is to use the Datagrid fill method
