VS 2008 Resume Parser With Noun Phrases

Mar 30, 2010

I have created a resume parser which as it stands now, opens word documents and parses the content for specific tokens. It also converts the doc into html format but my problem involves natural language processing. I was told to use the SharpNLP in order to recognize specific phrases, these are typically of the type:

VS 2008 Proper Way To Pause/resume A Thread?

Oct 6, 2011

I have a thread running on my application that checks a database every so often to decide whether or not to update nodes in a treeview.

Each treeview node represents a document and I have an open button that opens the document for the user.

When the document is opened, I wanted to suspend the thread that refreshes the node list until the document is closed.

I have MyThread.Suspend and MyThread.Resume. But the document viewer is on another thread.

I created functions for suspending/resuming the thread in the application. I have delegates in the viewer to call those functions from another thread. But I'm still getting an Error. "Thread is not user-suspended. Cannot be resumed" or something of the like.

But I realize that Suspend and resume are obsolete functions, so what class or objects should I be looking into and if it didn't take up too much of your time, a small example as well?

.NET Regular Expression To Split Multiple Words Or Phrases?

Mar 19, 2010

I'm using the code below to take a string and split it up into an array. It will take: Disney Land and make it two separate elements. If the string contains "Disney Land" then it is one element in the array. Works great, however it adds some empty elements to the array each time. So I just iterate over the elements and remove them if they are empty. Is there a tweak to the code below that will prevent those empty elements from occurring?

Private m_Reg As Regex
m_Reg = New Regex("([^""^s]+)s*|""([^""]+)""s*")
Dim rezsplit = m_Reg.Split(criteria)

So that in C# or VB get a match set of:

Essentially it splits on the spaces unless there are quotes around the spaces, then those words between quotes are considered a single phrase.

VS 2008 : Add A "resume Download" Feature To A Program?

Apr 21, 2011

its possible to add a "resume download" feature to my program as something doesn't seem to be right when I want to download the latest videos from my server. The application will download most of the video, but will then stop at random times. After the download has stopped, no more data will be received. Thats why I need a "download resume" feature in my application, so the whole file will be downloaded and corrupt files aren't being saved.

Here's my so far

Private WithEvents wClient As New WebClient
Private Sub wClient_DownloadProgressChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Net.DownloadProgressChangedEventArgs) Handles wClient.DownloadProgressChanged

[code].....

I was thinking of adding a timer to my project, and if data has not been received for more than "x" seconds, the file will in a "paused" state. The next step would be "resuming" the download so the file is downloading again.

Other Notes:The files download fine in IE and chrome. The files are around 5MB to 30MB in size and upto 10 minutes in length.

Pick A Word In Combo Box A That Has Specific Words/phrases In Combo Box B Show?

Feb 24, 2009

i wanted to link options selected from Comb box A (general) to specific options in combo box B (specific). I want to pick a word in Combo box A that has specific words/phrases in Combo Box B show. But not all the words to show in the combo box B if they aren't associated with the Word picked in Combo Box A. Ex.When "Soda" is picked in A, only "Coke, Sprite, Fanta" should be visible in combo box b, not everything else. This is the code i used to make the boxes, but i don't know how to link them.

Private Sub MainForm_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load

Me.xGeneralComboBox.Items.Add("Soda")

Ultimately what I'd like is a library that will parser an HTML file and raise events based on the tags it finds.

I can't use the 'New' on it, as it throws a error on the stream reader. And if it's throwing an error with that, i'd be curious what other errors it will throw. The file doesnt necessarily HAVE to be deleted, but it DOES have to be cleared out. (so the program doesnt have to reparse all the lines).

Getting Command Parser To Work - Isn't Generating Any Output ?

Apr 30, 2011

Getting command parser to work. I've made a new topic for this, because the old one isn't getting much attention, but also, I wanted to refine my questions, so that they would be easier to work with..

Here's how I have this code set up in my project..

I have a function module with public functions like so..

Code:

in my public class GameWindow I have the sub for the first rooms look command..

Code:

Now everything is going to be fed through a button click. User imputs MyString, and presses button. Here's the button code.

Code:

This isn't generating any output.. not sure how to go about getting it working. ha, I'm learning though...slowly, but surely. I like the hands on approach of implementing things into my project, and working with them. I learn better that way, plus the project'll get completed eventually.

What would be the best way to do this. I thought that possibly putting it in as an image might work, but I haven't tried that yet.

After I get this done, is there a way to add a button so a user can download my resume?
