I am pretty familiar with how to use the webbrowser control. I know how to autofill forms using the getelementbyid code but I'm having a problem selecting from drop down menus.

I am looking for some design "best practice" or heuristic to address performance issues on a webpage.Basically, there are dropdown menus with up to 10,000 choices and each is in an tag. So I have many thousands of extra nodes in the DOM model. I think this is slowing down the javascripts that parse the document after it loads, but also it is slowing down the initial page load to get out all that data.I would like to lift those drop downs off the page entirely, so instead of combobox style controls, it will have a link to a modal popup which will contain the picklist. I think preloading and caching these popups on the client will prevent the slowness of loading the initial page, and get all those 10,000s of off the DOM so that the existing script performance will improve.
With my limited experience in web development, I am not sure if the best thing is to create some sort of page/control/service/etc for the initial approach.Once I am confident I am using the correct approach, I should be able to work out the details.
I am creating a program that make a person select different options and in other boxes it will populate the choice the person makes. Example is the program is fora car wash and if you choose standard or deluxe it will show in the other boxes what comes with that package.I got the program to work except when going to select a different option it still keeps the old info and displays the new info as well. I tried like at the bottom of the procedure Exteriorlist.Items.clear() and it would clear and never display the info. I am still working on the project I am trying to get the print option working properly I am just needing help in figuring out how to clear the info when I select a different package.

View 4 RepliesUsing Webbrowser, I've managed to automate PDF downloads for several of the websites used by our company. I'm still a beginner at this process.Many of our PDF downloads, however, are from a Wells Fargo service called Wholesale Lockbox Image. The problem is that this Wells Fargo site expects the user to select items from a treeview as part of his query criteria. I don't know how to make Webbrowser select these treeview nodes programmatically.
Although I don't know anything about Java, the treeview is definitely a Java control. I know this for several reasons.(1) The instructions on the website specifically state that the the treeview won't draw until Java is installed.
(2) A standard Java splashcreen appears in the little treeview pane until the treeview actually begins to draw. The HTML code has an <OBJECT> tag which includes this attribute: ARCHIVE = "JWLTreeView2.jar"
Using Microsoft's mshtml library, I've tried looping through the elements on the page but can't find anything corresponding to the nodes in the treeview. I've also tried applying EnumChildWindows to the IE window, but here too I found nothing specific to the nodes. When I hover Spy++ over the treeview pane, it only identifies the pane as a whole, not the individual nodes.Furthermore, even when I select the nodes using my mouse, I don't seem to detect any corresponding alteration of the Webbrowser's HTML document (unless I overlooked it somehow).Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make Webbrowser select the treeview nodes programmatically?Oddly, I noticed that if the user saves the webbpage to his harddrive and then loads it into his browser from there, he can still see the treeview and select items (even without logging in to Wells Fargo), although if I bring the page home, the treeview is gone. I guess this means that IE is storing/caching the java file somewhere on the company machine, although I don't know if this fact would help solve my problem...

One of the tasks included selecting a server name from a dropdown menu (SELECT tag). I was able to get a collection of all of the OPTION tags and use HTMLElement.SetAttribute("selectedIndex","indexVal ue") to select the server I needed.The website recently went through a redesign and now there are no OPTION tags. It appears that the values for the SELECT tags are added by JavaScript dynamically. I have tried using HTMLElement.SetAttribute("selectedIndex","indexVal ue") directly, but I am unable to select what I need.

I really like the coding speed that vb.net provides, but I don't like the possibility to forget to declare variable types, return types of functions, etc. and that is why in each class I use[code]..
Is there a way to define those two options on the project/solution level?
the combo box style 1 has both the drop down option but also a manual entry option. I need to know how to code it so that when you manually enter data, it takes that data and places it in a text message "The shipping charges for "data" is $15" displaying in a text box. Shouldn't be hard but have developed a mind block.

View 11 RepliesI need to select all the comboboxes on a form with a for each loop. I have about 19 comboboxes and I need to select each one. I tried to do
for each box as combobox in me.controls
But that gave me an error and i now tried this:

That selected only the comboboxes but the problem is i need to access some data that is specific to comboboxes (aka the selected item(s), if its blank) but those properties are not present since "box" is a control, not a combo box.

1. When the control is not Focused and the user clicks inside the control, I want to highlight all text within the control. I expect to use SelectAll() to accomplish this.
2. When the control IS Focused and the user clicks inside the control, I want standard actions to occur; i.e., the user can click-and-drag to highlight, double-click to highlight,
3. When the user leaves the control (clicks on something elsle), if the control is empty, I want to populate it with pre-defined text. If it's not empty, leave text as-is.
I'm having problems, though, with figuring out #1 and #3. I have tried Enter/Leave, GotFocus/LostFocus to no avail. With Enter/Leave, the text will highlight the first time a user enters the control, but I can't seem to get the program to think the user has "left" the control. That is, the "Enter" code will not fire again.
I also thought about using the Click event, but I don't want the SelectAll() code to fire for EVERY click in the TextBox controls.

I have a TreeView that I am using for display purposes only. I don't want the user to be able to select any of the nodes. Setting the enabled property of the form to False doesn't suffice since it changes the entire look of the nodes.
I tried canceling the select action in the BeforeExpand event. It kind of works. It selects, then de-selects the item. I'm going to play around with other events to see
