how to strip html code from a string? I know how to do this in Visual Basic 6 using Regular Expressions 5.5 as a reference, but since I switched to VB.NET 2008 today, I am quite unaware on how to do the same.

Is there a more efficient way of doing this than adding &""""& for every double quotation mark in the html code when building the string? I need to store the HTML code as a string. I am finding "[tablerow]" within an existing document with StreamReader and want to replace it with my string value (html code) when writing it back using stringwriter.
I'm importing data from 1 database to another. I've been requested to strip all HTML content, as its messy and not valid, and just keep the links. I currently use the following VB.NET function to strip all HTML tags from a string of content:
Public Shared Function StripHTML(ByVal htmlString As String) As String Dim pattern As String = "<(.| )*?>" Return Regex.Replace(htmlString, pattern, String.Empty) End Function
I'm looking for a way of stripping all, but a (anchor) tags from the content. For example if I have the following HTML content: <table><tr><td> Lorem <a href="[URL]">Ipsum</a> </td></tr></table>
This will simply become: Lorem <a href="[URL]">Ipsum</a> How can I do this?
This may sound really stupid but I have to ask cause I'm not finding this answer anywhere.I have an application where the user will need to sign up for a new user account on the website [URL]..However when I am using Firefox's plug-in Firebug to view html I am getting something totally different than when I just right click on the site and view the page source.
What I am trying to do is to get the captcha from the website and display it in a picturebox on the application so the user can view the captcha, solve the captcha and then the app post is back to the service for a response.
Here is the source that I am getting using Firefox's Firebug to inspect the element:
<td> <input type="hidden" value="Oo3Jo1I8bgzK68agMqo3s79ZZib2OkbK" name="iden"> <img class="capimage" src="/captcha/Oo3Jo1I8bgzK68agMqo3s79ZZib2OkbK.png" alt="i wonder if these things even work"> </td>
[Code]...
Why would the two be showing me two different versions of the HTML?
And how would you be able to grab that source to view in a picturebox using webclient?
The projects program is designed to open files output by another program, allow the user to edit the files content, then send the file to a specific bookmark within a word template. Unfortunately most of the output files by the 'other program' are html format.Question Is there a way to strip out HTML from the file when it has opened in my text area within the program? I found one or two online guides but haven't managed to get them working.
I would like to know please how to check whether a string exists or not in a html code. I'm executing a for loop. Each time it checks a different url, so I want to be able to check each time if for example "<img" exists .
P.S: What's the difference between using

I have a axwebrowser control and through it I am editing my website page On my main site page I have an attribute that I need that makes a field readonly..Although it is important to leave it like that on the site, I still need to edit the field through the Vb.net application. Only way to do this as what I see is to remove the readonly (Without doing all the website through VB.Net)Is there a way to edit the code on the site through VB.NET in order to remove the readonly attribute and be able to edit that textfield? [code]I just need to remove this readonly attribute here..Again I am using the axwebbrowser (COM)
I need this, so let's say I have this html </a> </td> <td class="alL">21,442</td> <td class="alL">99</td> <td class="alL">13,444,999</td> </tr> All those numbers always change. But they're in the same line always Now I wanna get "99" which is at <td class="alL">99</td>

I am trying to get source code from a webpage. Webbrowser control is giving me the required information that I am looking for. But I want to use httpwebrequest but its giving me different source than webbrowser documenttext.
I am trying save a value from an input tag in some HTML source code. The tag looks like so:
<input name="user_status" value="3" />
I have the page source in a variable (pageSourceCode), and need to work out some regex to get the value (3 in this example). I have this so far: [Code] Which works fine most of the time, however this code is used to process source code from multiple sites (that use the same platform), and sometimes there are other attributes included in the input tag, or they are in a different order, eg:
I have fetched the html page and stored it as a string and now wish to parse it. I tried the following but I cannot get all the text between the following tags.
<entry...</entry> If Not String.IsNullOrEmpty(_html) Then 'get all href tags in the html page

Dim phoneNumber As String = "077 47578 587(num)"How do i strip the above string off every character which isnt a number. So only the numbers are left and then check to make sure it is 11 characters long?
I know Val() is a VB6 function, but one thing I like about it is that you can wrap a string in it and it will "extract" the numerical value from the string if there are other things present (i.e. Val("123 Main St.") returns 123). This is the way my teacher taught us to use it. I know about the .TryParse and .Parse methods of the different data types, and how those can be used to check for a numerical value, but is there a replacement that can strip any non-numeric value from a string to put it in an integer (or double, single, decimal, etc.)?
I need to keep the first 5 words from returned string, stripping of the balance.eg. I want to keep "Stackoverflow is an amazing resources" from the word below Stackoverflow is an amazing resources for developers?

I am totally new to VB and I'd like to know, for example, when a user clicks on "Print" in the menu strip on the keyboard should automatically press "Ctrl+P", because the original print dialog, and the WebBorwser print dialog is toootaly different.

"Form1" has a ToolStripContainer1.TopToolStripPanel which contains a ToolStrip with buttons. The buttons work on ONE click when "Form1" is active. If I click on another window and then return to "Form1" the ToolStrip buttons take TWO clicks to activate. The first click returns focus to "Form1" and the subsequent click fires the button event.I want the buttons to work on the first click and not require two clicks.Note that ordinary buttons on "Form1" that are not part of the ToolStrip work on the first click when returning from another window/form?
