I need some further help regarding this thread [URL]..I use this Query
SELECT Kunder.anstnr, Kunder.FirstName, Kunder.LastName, GetJoinNames([Bestn.Anstnr]) AS Weeks, Bestn.Manad
FROM Kunder INNER JOIN Bestn ON Kunder.anstnr = Bestn.Anstnr GROUP BY Kunder.anstnr, Kunder.FirstName, Kunder.LastName, GetJoinNames([Bestn.Anstnr]) And this function in access and it works quite well
I am trying to convert a DLL function call which has the Callback function routine called within the DLL function call. The DLL function call signature is like this:
I am having a problem with the BackOrdered Function of my program. I can`t get it to say anything but 0 when I run the program. Another problem I am having is the input box pops up like 6 times and it`s only suppose to once. [Code]
Possible Duplicate: Convert Null to zero in access databaseI'm using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express to create ASP/VB.NET page to connect with a Microsoft office Access 07. Here's my issue:
In Access if a query were to compute the sum of different fields where there is a likelihood of one or more fields being NULL, you use something like NZ. Is there any equivalent Function for handling NULLs in VB .NET?
I'm use the code below to retrieve the SUM of the column "BudgetAmt" from my DB but get InvalidCast Exception was unhandled error because the BudgetAmt and/or AllocationPersonnel holds no data:
Dim strSbCode As String = cboSubSubOrg.SelectedValue.ToString Dim budgetYr As Integer = CInt(cboBudgetYr.Text) personBudget = CDec(transDetailsDT.Compute("SUM(BudgetAmt)", "FundSource = '02101' AND DataSource = 3" _
I am creating a VB 2010 program that lets your select the program(s) you want to install (chkbox) and hit run. Then have it launch the installer ( the file is across the server) and accept the predefined keystrokes to proceed through the installation process. Afterwards, it starts the next install. Below is the code that I have. What i cant get to function is the unit accepting the keystrokes, its almost as if it wont take focus ( even when i have used Appactivate and threading.thread.sleep). I have even gone so far as to identify it as a process to manipulate the thread. To be honest, i'm at a loss and need any help at all. The final sub that contains "btntest" is where I am at currently in my attempts. [Code]
I'm trying to call a Dll function which looks like this (in the C/C++ Dll):declspec(dllexport) void execute(char** ReturnMsg, char* serverAddress, char* commandLine)
The VB 'wrapper' function looks like:
<DllImport("TPClient.dll", EntryPoint:="execute", CallingConvention:=CallingConvention.Cdecl, CharSet:=CharSet.Auto, ExactSpelling:=True)> _ Public Shared Sub tg_execute(<Out()> <MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr)> ByRef returnString As System.Text.StringBuilder, _
I have a recursive function in this function i am adding some value to path variable here i want to acess this value outside of function for this what changes i will do in this function.
Private Sub GeValuePath(ByVal ParentID As Integer) Try dim path as string =""
I work with Access and VB6 for quite a while. I have read the thread of Phillip Maerz, but there was still the problem that the Function names had to be written in the delegate array. Thats why I started a new thread.Following Problem:How can I call a funktion dymacally, something like thisPublic Function Test1()Returns 1End Function Public Function Test2()Returns 2End Function Sub Main()dim i, r as integeri=2
Public Function DBConnection(ByVal path As String) ' This function makes the database connection and returns the object ' to reference it.
[code]....
As you can see, I want to initialize a database connection and return it so I can use it in my forms. This function is in a module and my variables are as follows:
Public cn As OleDbConnection Public cmd As OleDbCommand Public dr As OleDbDataReader
But I'm not sure how I can use this in my forms, do I just call the function DBConnection and then proceed with my SQL statements? Also, I need some opinions. My application relies on a MS Access database. Is it better to initialize the connection on Form_Load and then close the connection when the user closes the program, or open and close the connections as the queries are run? I'm planning to use some database queries on multiple forms hence the reason I was putting it into a module, but I'm not 100% on how I should proceed with this.
how could i build a search function button which will access my database? as the search item match the database , there must be a window pop up to show the searched data from the database.
I coded a program to access a Microsoft Access 2010 database. The program is written using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. I get the error message that the database I'm trying to access is in an invalid format. look at the code below to see what I missed. The error is in the datasource statement.
I work in MS Visual Studio 2008, I have a VB.NET Solution which has three Projects, BusinessObjectLibrary (object properties), DataAccessLibrary (object functions such as selectAll, exportToExcel) and WindowUserInterface (UserForms c/w Controls)In my WindowUserInterface (project) I have a form called "rolFormGrid.vb", on this form, I have a DataGrid that gets filled with a function called "selectAll" when the form is loaded, I also have a button that calls the function "exportToExcel" and I have a Progress Bar called "rolProgressBar" ***.
In my DataAccessLibray (project) I have a class called "ROL_Adapter.vb", and in this class resides the function called "exportToExcel" which has all the code to create an Excel Workbook. When this function is being called, it can takes close to a minute to export to excel. We all know how users can be impatient if they do not see anything happening in the foreground when an application is working, that is the reason I want the progress bar.
I am trying to duplicate the Match function in excel for use in Access. Public Function Match(T() As Double, TTM As Double) As Double ReDim T(LBound(T) To UBound(T)) As Double
I need to access a DLL function which has a void pointer argument (probably written in C/C++). In VB6 it could be accessed by declaring the argument as 'Any'. VB2008/VB2010 does not know this variable type 'Any'.
I tried instead: Object, IntPtr, UIntPtr, Int32(), Long e.t.c. but there always occurs a compile error or a runtime error.I did a lot of Internet investigation but could not find any answer.
How could I build a search function button which will access my database? As the search item match the database, there must be a window pop up to show the searched data from the database.
I created a access table with three fields, CustomerID, FirstName, LastNameI set the CustomerID field to the primary key and the type of AutonumberIn my VB app I dragged the three fields over to my form.I clicked on the plus sign at the top and it displayed -1 in the customer field, I entered a First Name and a Last Name and press the save button. I repeated the process 2 more times and the CustomerID field went from -2 to -3.I looked at my table in acces and all three records showed 1, 2 & 3 as it should. When I exited the form and then open the form again it shows record numbers 1, 2 & 3 as it should. How come it takes exiting the form and then back in to see the correct CustomerID's ?
Public Function StoreFields() Dim Lockbox, Cash_Deposit_Date, Batch_Number Lockbox = Xdocument.DOM.selectSingleNode("dfs:myFields/dfs:dataFields/d:tbl_GC100/@Lockbox").Text

I have tested the variables in the Functions and the are correct.
I'm working on an access database and there is a problem I can solve in a circumvented way but I was wondering if it can be done by using a function in query. The case: I have a main data table and 2 other tables joined to it.
maintable country | city...... | postalcode [code].....
From one of the tables I select the respective zone for the postal codes in the main datatable, ie. if the row's postal code column contains 1000 (just an exmple) then the postal code is searched in the "zone" table "from" & "to" columns using "between", and it results in for example "zone1" (zone column). This is a clear thing, it works okay. However I need to select the respective rate column (based on the rows' weight column) from the rates table selecting the appropriate zone.
I can solve this by a switch statment (select country, city.... switch( zone="1", [1], zone="2", [2] etc.) but it gets very tedious when for example I have a rate table with 15 columns, you can imagine that.My question is if I could create a custom function which returned the respective column based on the result of the zone column.is there some way to get the function's return value to be translated in the select statement? for example select country, city....getzone("rates",[zone]) .....
I know that the rates table do not follow the relational database's main principle and it should look like fromkg | tokg | zone | rate and it would work like a charm with "where"but these tables are changed regularly and I receive them in excel...but maybe transforming the tables each time by unions would easily solve my problem doesnt it?I'm still interested if VBA custom function could be used for such a purpose.
I failed at the title: it should be "access a function of a class from a module"Edit by Moderator: I've amended the title for you.I got a huge VBA program which opns an excel workbook.I want that if i press crtl + s excel dont calls his save function but my own written save-function.
The context of this question is that I am trying to debug performance issues (apart from the obvious ones I already know about and can find).I inherited a code base (VB.NET) for an ASP.NET app. This is an app that was developed way back in .NET 1.1 days, and was the first .NET app for a lot of the developers who worked on it.
In this code base is a class called DatabaseUtility that contains several Shared Public methods as well as non-Shared Public Functions and Subs for CRUD operations to the database (SQL Server).
It is common in my "BL" that a method creates an instance of the DatabaseUtility which essentially figures out what the connection string should be and opens a connection, as well as giving the developer a handle to the other methods contained within it.Dim utility as New DatabaseUtility()
Once I have that, I start to create parameters that I am going to pass to one of the methods in DatabaseUtility (like GetDataSet). There is a Shared method in my DatabaseUtility called CreateParameter which does essentially that. It creates a SqlParameter object so I can add it to a Parameters collection.
Now, the code base is littered with a lot of this:
utility.CreateParameter(...)However, because CreateParameter is a Shared method, I am not sure what is going on behind the scenes. I know because it is a Shared member that an instance of the DatabaseUtility is not created when I call it like this:DatabaseUtility.CreateParameter(...)
However, because I am calling it from an instance (utility), does that change the behavior at all?
Im trying to use DateTimePicker function and save the date to an access database. Everything is working somewhat how I want it to but not 100% yet. Here is my problem. When the program is running if I click on the datetimepicker and select a date and click my save button the date IS saved to my access database as it should.
but if i run the program and don't ever click on the datetimepicker (because it is already on the correct current date) and click my save button the date doesn't get saved to the access database. The closest I have gotten was to enable the ShowCheckBox option, If i run the program this way and select the check box but dont select a date then it will save the date to my db.
But I really need it to be able to save the date to the db without the user ever clicking on the datetimepicker. Is it just a simple line I'm missing? Im pretty new to this but Ill try to explain anything the best I can if you have any further questions for me.
quite new to database queries through VB. I have just created a DB using MS Access and I need to write data to it from my VB Application. Can anyone point me on which objects should I use to execute these write transactions?
I am writing a small project which first reads all the access database's in a web directory and shows the database names in a combobox. When the user select one of the names, the system connects to the database in question (still in the web directory), and shows the database contents.I have tried the following code:
Imports System.IO
Dim NetFiles As String = "http://www.myWebsite.com/db/"
Private Sub LoadAllLanguage()[code]....
Problem is I get an error from the LoadAllLanguage function: 'does not support URL formats'
I need to create password access to a front end menu by calling a function so far all i have is the following:
Private Sub btnLogIn_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLogIn.Click If txtPass.Text = "password".ToUpper Or txtPass.Text = "password".ToLower Then
i have a search function in my program in order to find records from an access database... all the other functions add/edit/delete are working just fine this is my code for search function: [code]
I am using vb to make a hospital system which works with a access database. i am having an issue with the updating function to the database, this time round instead of hard codding the connection i used the connection/data source wizard, in microsoft visual studio 2008 and there fore most of the code has been auto generated for me, which includes the insert, delete and update funtions from what i can find and what i have read vb is ment to also auto generate this which it is not. the funny thing is that i can close the program down and reload it (as long as i haven't opened the database) and my changes are still there but if i go and open the database and it hasn't changed. also i can change the database through the use of the Dataset connections in the datasource tab but not int he program the code ive found and believe that is meant to update the database
This is running off a couple of buttons i also have a update query but have know way of accessing it
