i'm working with an usb interface and i control relays with it. when i close my exe. and re open i don't see witch relays where switched on.
and because my program shows a light bulb witch indicate turned on or off but when i open it, it first shows everything of also those who aren't.

Sep 25, 2011I want to create a "Project file" feature. so the user can resume their work right from they left off.Let say I have object Car and that object have some properties. How do I save this properties using xml so I can load it again later?The tricky part is I have many Car object, not only one, and they all have the same variable name. I dont know how it works but it was setup like that.so when the user click save project my program will save all the Car properties and when the user resume their work everything is will be the exact same thing from they left off. Jan 14, 2012I haven't used VB in decades and I'm restarting with what I thought would be a simple program. I have two fields on a little form, both of which display a date (dd/mm/yyyy). Field1 is an entry field except on load where is contains a date calculated from field2 (which is 'now' upon application load). Field1 is 'now' + 10 days. This is the default state.
Once loaded (with the data described above), the user can input only in field1. Field2, an inactive field used only for display, is field1 - 10 days. After 15 seconds, fields 1 and 2 revert to their default states as described in the first paragraph. I'm getting all messed up with the 'on load' state. I'll start playing with the timer once I get the initial stuff done.

As you can see, when I enable/disable my checkbox it enables/disables my textbox.
The thing is, I have more than one textbox, how can i add more textboxes to be enabled/disabled?
I tried using If TextBox2.Enabled = True AND TextBox1.Enabled = True Then
TextBox2.Enabled = False And TextBox1.Enabled = False. (of course fails)

For some reason the checked property is not binding to drop down menu item's checked state. The binding works for text boxes and other controls. I have tried to bind both using the checked property, and checked state property. Auto check on click for the menu items are set to true.
Anyone have any recommendations in getting the app-settings property binding to work without the need to manually set that info and manually run My.Settings.Save?

When I add the required components and click on the button, my app simply disappears, closes, goes right back into a stopped state. No errors, No Warnings, No issues. Nothing. Its as-if there is a stray "END" just before the IF statement. (But there isn't) Its stopping right at the IF statement. My app (THEIR CODE) just makes it disappear and "Stop". The code was working about an hour ago, but now nothing, and thats the only code on the project.

The Javascript is not changing the state of the checkboxes in Internet Explorer (v9). Asp.net - Finding All Use Of Session State?
Feb 3, 2011I'm looking for some smart ideas on how to quickly find all usage of session state within an existing asp.net (MVC) application.
The application in question was the subject of outsourced development, and has been running fine in production. But we recently realised that it's using InProc session state rather than (our preferred route) StateServer.
In a small scale test, we switched it over to StateServer, and all worked fine. However, when we deployed to production, we suddenly experienced a large number of errors. I'm not sure if these errors were caused by this change (they were actually complaining about database level problems), but removing the change allowed the application to function once again (this may have just been because it caused a recycle to occur).
So before I try switching it again, I'd like to perform a thorough audit of all objects being placed in the session (I'd previously taken a quick look at a couple of controllers, and they seemed fine). If I had full control over the code, this is the kind of place where I'd just comment out the class (to compile and find the various ways of reaching the session class), then comment out the accessors, hit compile, and visit each error. But I can't do that with built in .NET framework types.
I decided to try using Reflector. I've analyzed the "Used By" for each of the following:

Apr 12, 2011I have a label's value that is posted back from a previous page and I want to use this label to do a simple calculation in the current page, but when I do the calculation the page (refreshed) the value of this label and automatically deleted the value (Since there would be no value in postback when it refreshed).

Check For Program State And Act Upon That
Aug 15, 2011Here is, basically, how my application works:
When windows starts, my app starts. Whenever my app is running, it hides the desktop, taskbar, etc... When a button is clicked in my application ("Start program"), then my application will set its visible property at false and another application will start.
Everything seems to work perfect except I need a way for my application to set its visible property back to true, but only once the other application that was started earlier, is closed (no longer running.)
My thought was that I could use a timer to check for the applications state every so many seconds:[code...]
I have 2 concerns with this:
1. A timer checking this every few seconds will invoke unneeded stress on a computer since they are running for sometimes very long periods of time.
2. There is a better way to accomplish this that doesnt rely on a timer.

Checking State Of DNS Server
Dec 6, 2009My ISP's DNS server goes down all of a sudden sometimes. This is very annoying while surfing the internet. So, I'm trying to make an application which has the following characteristics :
Runs in system tray
Pings the server periodically
Notifies when the server becomes unreachable/active
Now, I know that the existing workarounds are to use OpenDNS or ping <IP Address> -t in command prompt. I don't want to use them... the reason being that the former gives much higher pings than my DNS & for the latter, I'll have to switch windows.

Aug 20, 2011I'm developing a program (VB.NET Form) that has printing function, then i have to alert user when an error occurred such as paper out, paper jam or etc. I found that .NET has WIN32_Printer class use for retrieve printer information and status. I can get printer status (Idle, Printing) correctly except offline, but for DetectedErrorState... always get 0 if printer has no problem and 2 if any problem found. (from reference 0 means Unknown and 2 means No Error) How can i get printer state correctly? Is this related to printer manufacturer or their driver? Because their application can alert correctly, i guess that driver never return value to WIN32 Class.
