View 2 RepliesWhat I am doing is creating a simple login and register system. I am going to save the information of each user into a text or ".dat" format and have them placed into a folder called "accounts".The small problem that I have is the "Forgot Password" option. I can't think of how to search all the documents for the e-mail or the username.So basically I need to know if it is possible to do a small search for the e-mail through all the documents in the "accounts" folder.
-I know another option may be databases...but I don't completely know how to use these.
-I have general knowledge of arrays
I have an SQL database, and 50 text files, and Visual Basic 2010 Premimum,I need to find a specific line of text in the text files and then take the next 37 lines of text and save them in my database. I need advice as to point me in the right direction

View 1 RepliesI'm having some difficulties chopping up a word document. I think the problem may be that it's 900+ pages, but I'm not completely sure.The separate documents within the document file are separated by x of 100 documents. I'm trying to split at the "of 100 documents", however when I try to split the string that I put this word document's contents into, it will only split with the first letter I give. So, when I try to split it by "of 100 documents", it will only split by "o".

Dim oFile As System.IO.File
Dim oWrite As System.IO.StreamWriter
oWrite = oFile.CreateText("e: est.txt")
oWrite.WriteLine("TEST")
oWrite.Close()
Which works, but I would like to have it so instead of creating test.txt it names the document using multiple input text instance.
I have a favorites bar in my web browser and when I display them on a toolstrip as a toolstripbutton but the bookmarks are stored as a string collection in my.settings and It only displays the url of the bookmark (not the document title of the site)Is there a way to have a toolstripbutton that has the text of the Document Title of the url and the url as the tag of the toolstrip button?
View 11 RepliesI want to make a program that sends text in the text box to a form on a website and print the page as .xps
View 2 RepliesOk so here is the HTML of the page:
<!-- Generated by F12 developer tools. This might not be an accurate representation of the original source file -->
<html lang="en" xml:lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head>
<meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="content-type">

I have declared an array of text boxes created dynamically at run time. The textboxes are assigned some values by user. The text boxes are located in a Form so that once the user fills in the info and clicks the "ok" button, these values are passed at the back end and the form dissappears. However the user can bring back the form again by clicking another button.
The problem is that once the form reappears, the information previously provided in the form remains. Even the user clears the text boxes to provide new value, the text boxes at code behind do not receive these values.
In my desktop, I have folder containing some word document files. I want the filenames of the documents in that folder. So, I used:
Dim strFiles() As String = IO.Directory.GetFiles("X:Documents and SettingsXXXDesktopvvvvv", "*.doc")
All filenames are stored in that array. But it would also include the temp document that Word generates. I am somewhat confused on how to remove this from array. I only need full filenames of the actual documents, which excludes the temp document.
How can I make my text box go to the enterd web address, through the user's default web browser?(And not by creating an actual web browser in the application..)
View 5 RepliesI have a TextBox and I want to allow VB syntax, but when I run the site and try to save the VB code to the database, I am getting an error. I believe the error has something to do with the VB code.I have put the httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0" setting in my web.config, and I've added validateRequest="false" in the directive at the top of the page, but it didn't resolve the issue.
View 1 RepliesNeed to design a program that can encrypt and decrypt messages stored in simple text files using a private key stored in a separate file. Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. It should be set out in the following format:
Example (the "@" is the separator):
@
The character The Code End of line
A @ 4gh EOL
B @ 84!9 EOL
Has to use the 256 ASCII character codes. The separator will be used to separate the character and its corresponding code.Here are the pseudocodes I have come up with:
 Read any private key file
separator = readline(file);
while not EOF(file) do
tempStr = readline(file);

But this creates a Problem. If someone pastes code into the RichTextBox It only highlights the last Line. So is there a way to get if the user typed the text in with his keyboard or pasted it from the clipboard in the text Changed event?
