Design A Program That Can Encrypt And Decrypt Messages Stored In Simple Text Files Using A Private Key Stored In A Separate File?

Jun 13, 2011

Need to design a program that can encrypt and decrypt messages stored in simple text files using a private key stored in a separate file. Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. It should be set out in the following format:

Example (the "@" is the separator):

@
The character The Code End of line
A @ 4gh EOL
B @ 84!9 EOL

Has to use the 256 ASCII character codes. The separator will be used to separate the character and its corresponding code.Here are the pseudocodes I have come up with:

 Read any private key file
separator = readline(file);
while not EOF(file) do
tempStr = readline(file);

DB/Reporting :: Database - Access Denied To A Text File (since It's Stored In The Program Directory In The Program Files)

Sep 20, 2010

I have a program where a lot of the required information for it is stored in text files. I simply read this information into large arrays. However, I don't think it's necessary to load all the information each time. Rather, it would be more efficient if I could simply search through a list of items to find the one I need and then use the data from it, or to find a similar name and use it elsewhere.

Would I be right in using a database? And is database programming done in SQL? I have a book on it telling me to use the SQL Server (IIRC), so I shouldn't be doing it in the VB.NET Express GUI?

Here's an example of what I would do:

Hex = 03 00 => dex number 003
Search in file Pokemon Dex Numbers
003 returns Bulbasaur
Check Bulbasaur base stats in the base stats file
etc

So basically I'm reusing a lot of information. I think a database would be best and it would all be internal right? I'm getting complaints about access denied to a text file (since it's stored in the program directory in the program files).

So to cap up the few questions I have:

-Databases are done in SQL and not inside the GUI?
-Databases would load internally?
-I could search a database without having to load it into like an array or something?

Drag A .txt File Onto The Txtbox, The Content Of The Text File Is Displayed In The Textbox?

Mar 3, 2012

I have a textbox on a form that is set to allow dragdrop operations from txt files.Basically you drag a .txt file onto the txtbox, the content of the text file is displayed in the textbox.All is working fine, however after the textfile is displayed in the textbox, the text box text is for some reason is highlighted.I don't want the text to be highlighted (or selected) after it's being displayed on the textbox.Second issue, after I close the file that I dragged, for some reason even if I didn't make any changes to the file, it is acting as if the file has changed.In another words, if I open a text file using my MenuItem Open item, and if I do not change the file, If I close the file it's fine it closes.However, if I close a file that I draged into the text box and then close the file without changing anything in it, the stringcompare function is telling me that the file has changed... I can't understand why.

Text Values Are Not Stored At Text Box Declared Dynamically

Jan 13, 2010

I have declared an array of text boxes created dynamically at run time. The textboxes are assigned some values by user. The text boxes are located in a Form so that once the user fills in the info and clicks the "ok" button, these values are passed at the back end and the form dissappears. However the user can bring back the form again by clicking another button.

The problem is that once the form reappears, the information previously provided in the form remains. Even the user clears the text boxes to provide new value, the text boxes at code behind do not receive these values.

Way To Save Textbox Text To .txt File?

Nov 7, 2011

What is the easiest way to save txtbox text to .txt file? Ofc I also need to choose the folder Im saving the text file. And it is possible to save that text file "to that program" ? I mean if I wrote textfile and click a button (to save text) and restard whole application can the text be saved somehow? If this is impossible (or too hard for me^^) I also need help with loading that saved text file: By clicking button it will open that txt file I saved before.And then (In my opinion) the harder one: If I need to save more than a textbox text.. In my current program it would be good to save (by clicking button) at least labels' texts, numericUpDowns, checxboxs, etc (the data that user had given) from just one form. Not to save whole program, one form is enough. So how this? That file doesnt need to be able to read by another program (like word, excel, etc). And again, the same vice verca. I also need a button which opens that saved file. (And now my english skills came to end)but this button click must also "place the values".For example if I have clicked checkboxs 1, 2 and 4 -> saved file -> opened -> it must show those checkboxes as checked. The same with everything else too (labels, numerics..)

ASCII Text Formatting - TextBox To File?

Oct 22, 2010

So I'm using a plain TextBox to display output from an ongoing background process. I've created a 'report string' that displays in my textbox like it has 3 columns; there's a VariableName, a VariableValue, and a VariableEffect (showing how applying that variable to the process affected it).In my textbox, any VariableValue entry that has 17 or greater characters gets 1 tabstop between Value and Effect; any entry 16 or less gets 2 tabstops, and any value 7 or less gets 3 tabstops which very neatly lines up the 3 columns.

Compare String From TXT File And Textbox Text

Aug 23, 2010

First I create a class which have a string property
Property stdName() As String

Then I open a text file and put into array of that class
Dim arrStudent() As Students
Dim allstdinfo As New IO.StreamReader(dlgOpenStudentsFile.FileName)
Do Until (allstdinfo.Peek() = -1)
Dim strAllstdinfo As String = allstdinfo.ReadLine()
Dim arrStudentLine() As String
[Code] .....

Finally I run a for loop and compare the stdName property with textbox.text
Dim counter As Integer = arrStudent.Length
(debug here)
For i As Integer = 0 To counter - 1
If (String.Compare(arrStudent(i).stdName, txtStdName.Text) = 0) Then
lblPhoneNo.Text = arrStudent(i).phoneNo
End If
Next

And I add watch:
