Sep 15, 2009i want to read lines from one text file to 5 textboxes and when a button update is checked then i want the text in that textboxes to be saved in that file and the previous text deleted

Mar 10, 2011Is it Possible for me to read text from textbox control and write it to .txt file at specific location.
for an instance.... say below with quote is my Text in .txt file:
"THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMP OVER THE LAZY DOG"
and with programming code I want to change some text in the same sentance become....(see below)
"THE QUICK GREY FOX JUMP OVER THE LAZY CAT"
so you can see the word BROWN change to GREY and word DOG change to CAT

Mar 3, 2012I have a textbox on a form that is set to allow dragdrop operations from txt files.Basically you drag a .txt file onto the txtbox, the content of the text file is displayed in the textbox.All is working fine, however after the textfile is displayed in the textbox, the text box text is for some reason is highlighted.I don't want the text to be highlighted (or selected) after it's being displayed on the textbox.Second issue, after I close the file that I dragged, for some reason even if I didn't make any changes to the file, it is acting as if the file has changed.In another words, if I open a text file using my MenuItem Open item, and if I do not change the file, If I close the file it's fine it closes.However, if I close a file that I draged into the text box and then close the file without changing anything in it, the stringcompare function is telling me that the file has changed... I can't understand why.

May 17, 2010I am trying to populate text boxes from XML files. Depending on an ID the user selects the textboxes will populate. i can do the rest but i can't seem to get the XML file information to load. Can i get an example of calling an xml file up and simply adding the context to a textbox?

Nov 7, 2011What is the easiest way to save txtbox text to .txt file? Ofc I also need to choose the folder Im saving the text file. And it is possible to save that text file "to that program" ? I mean if I wrote textfile and click a button (to save text) and restard whole application can the text be saved somehow? If this is impossible (or too hard for me^^) I also need help with loading that saved text file: By clicking button it will open that txt file I saved before.And then (In my opinion) the harder one: If I need to save more than a textbox text.. In my current program it would be good to save (by clicking button) at least labels' texts, numericUpDowns, checxboxs, etc (the data that user had given) from just one form. Not to save whole program, one form is enough. So how this? That file doesnt need to be able to read by another program (like word, excel, etc). And again, the same vice verca. I also need a button which opens that saved file. (And now my english skills came to end)but this button click must also "place the values".For example if I have clicked checkboxs 1, 2 and 4 -> saved file -> opened -> it must show those checkboxes as checked. The same with everything else too (labels, numerics..)

I've created a 'report string' that displays in my textbox like it has 3 columns; there's a VariableName, a VariableValue, and a VariableEffect (showing how applying that variable to the process affected it).In my textbox, any VariableValue entry that has 17 or greater characters gets 1 tabstop between Value and Effect; any entry 16 or less gets 2 tabstops, and any value 7 or less gets 3 tabstops which very neatly lines up the 3 columns.

Jan 5, 2012Program Overview: Quiz Show based on answering questions, with A,B,C,D choice answers. If the player answers correctly he moves up the ladder with prizes. If he answers incorrectly his game ends, asking him for his name so he can be added to the scoreboardif the score is high enough. Program should use mysql database or msaccess database to hold the questions. There should be a section with master options protected by a password in which authorized person can update the question database using buttons.Problem: I will manage easily to implement sql database with buttons to add,remove questions , password will be easy too.
Edit: Everything is on the forms, some coding is done.The problem i am having right now is making scoreboard to work. I want the scoreboard to store 10 best scores ie. prize they won eg. 500 000$ and their name. They should be displayed in a textbox or a listbox in a two column system. Right now i have placed a listbox and a textbox on the scoreboard form and trying things out hoping its going to work.

Would reading the text into a buffer, then writing the buffer to a file be the best approach? Mar 6, 2011I tried to write a text written in my textbox to file.(a .txt). I scanned it to see if it contained any illegal characters, the program said that it did not. However, when I went to save it it said that the program performed an illegal operation.
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException was unhandled Message: Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A0005 (CTL_E_ILLEGALFUNCTIONCALL).
It created the text file but did not write the content of the textbox to the file.I can save the text in Microsoft word without a problem. Is there something wrong with the encoding for the textbox and how do I set the encoding for the characters so I can write it to a text file.

Feb 2, 2010I found several examples on how to write to dataset, but most of them involve a ds.fill(..) from a data connection and I need a simpler solution. Basically I want to create an xml file from the values entered in a few textbox. I tried different methods but can't make it work. What is the best way to accomplish this? One method I used was to fill the textboxes from an xml, but now how do I write it back to the xml once the user has changed the data in the textbox?
