View 13 RepliesI saved a file with the extension .doc. I use the RichText to write and save the text. I did not set any encoding type when I saved it. When I tried to open the file in the Richtextbox again, I got all the formatting characters in the RTF file. How do I correct this? How do I open and re-open a .doc file in the Rich Text box control without the formatting showing up in the box with the document contents?

View 2 RepliesHi, i'm trying to use the treeview to display the text of a rtf (rich text file) file when an specific node if clicked.HomeOMGWOOTFor example, if i pick OMG, i want the text of lol.rtf to be displayed on a richtextbox. But somehow i just can't manage to get it... I know to import the text of a .txt file to a textbox, but using the treeview makes it more complicated.This is the code im using right now:
Private Sub TreeView1_NodeMouseClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.TreeNodeMouseClickEventArgs) Handles TreeView1.NodeMouseClick
Select Case e.Node.Index
Case 0
[code]....
Another thing is, that i can't import the *.rtf text into a richtextbox and i don't know why.

View 3 RepliesI want the title bar to display the name of the file currently open or untitled (and maybe a * when it is unsaved) by the way this is all for a little notepad like program. and secondly, I would like there to be a button that the user can press so that the current document can be opened up into a internet browser so the html code inside if any will appear as a webpage.

I have written an app (CMSXML) that writes its output to a textbox, but the textbox only displays white. TextBox1.text returns the text I wrote to the text box.
I have started with a new application and what I write to the textbox, is visible in it.
I have set Textbox1.enabled = True and Textbox1.visible = true, but I can't get the text to appear. I think the solution is going to be pretty simple, but it has illuded me thus far.
Ive figured out how to open a file to read and then display it, and i can probably work out how to write a string to a file. The part i am stumped by is this. Say i open a text file with the following text I has a badger i then want to correct this to I have a badger.
Its just an example and not for a grammar corection program. What i want to do is detect what was said and alter it acordingly. I presume this would come under string manipulation but i cant find any details on this.
I am trying to open a .csv file via openfiledialog and then display information on a datagridview...What would be some ways to approach this? I have tried reading the file, separating the values by commas and placing them in a string followed by placing the string into a list. I place them in a list because I have more than one string of text I want operated in the CSV file. How can I display each string of separated values onto my datagridview?

I just want to open a form based on a users input into the textbox
Public Class MainForm

I already have it opening the form2 based on a click from the picture, but decided aginst that design. Also any design on form2? (below) I am storing values for tags inside the forms....
Public Class Form2
Private Sub saveButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles saveButton.Click
My.Settings.SaveTitle = TextBox1.Text

i have recently been developing a simple text editor designed for YML. i have come across 2 problems. 1. When i open a YML file to a textbox, the text seems rather messed up comparing to what im used to seeing (in wordpad and notepad++) 2. Most compilers and programs for typing code remember the column of the text above them like this:

I'm looking to, using an OpenFileDialog, open a file to a TextBox, named TextBox1. When you press the Button, Button1, it'll show you an OpenFileDialog
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
OpenFileDialog1.Title = "Please Select a File"
OpenFileDialog1.InitialDirectory = "C:temp"
[CODE]................
That's the code for my open file dialog, and now I'm confused as how to have the file opened using that file open dialog open up into the TextBox1.Text area.
I am writing code that will list all the words alphabetically in a report that has been typed in by the user into a textbox. The report must also list the line number that each word appears on.
E.g.
The cat and
dog played
together in the
garden
Results to be displayed:
And 1
Cat 1
Dog 2
Garden 4
In 3
Played 2
The 1 3
Together 3
I know this is a very simple question. But somehow I cannot solve this problem. I have a listbox and a textbox. I want to display the text in the Listbox when typed in a textbox.

View 3 RepliesI'm using VB 2008 and reading data from an access 2003 database.I have a query setup in access - read in as a 'view' in vb ... that is showing results of first pass yield. total good parts... total bad parts... and percentage of yield.in my access query - i have the percentage displaying properly using the column format in access... however - on my form - the data source comes in as a textbox...by default.I can't seem to google the right question - but right now on my form, even though the dataset recognizes it as a double precision number - the option in the datasource tab - shows it as a text box or data grid right ...
so on my form i have the text box or details option... but my text box shows the percentage as a long decimal ... .98936524 or whatever... what's the correct string i need to format the textbox.text to display a percentage?I tried format(val(textbox.text), 0.00) that didn't do anything... and I did this under the form load section after the data sets were filled.
How can I count how many rows are returned by a dataset and then show the total number of rows as extbox.text and read-only so that the user can only see them but not change them?
so far I have this but it dosent return a number and says it cant find table 0:tbRecordsFound.Text = ds.Tables(0).Rows.Count
how can i make a textbox accept a drag and drop (if i drag and drop a txt file onto it, how can i make it open)Well, If it is not worth it, it is not fun - you say programmers are boring but i say they are worth it.
