Open A .csv File Via Openfiledialog And Then Display Information On A Datagridview

I am trying to open a .csv file via openfiledialog and then display information on a datagridview...What would be some ways to approach this? I have tried reading the file, separating the values by commas and placing them in a string followed by placing the string into a list. I place them in a list because I have more than one string of text I want operated in the CSV file. How can I display each string of separated values onto my datagridview?
I'm making an MP3 Player using windows media player, I know how to use an openfiledialog to open a single file, But how do I use to to open a whole directory, Like of music files, And then add the file names into a listbox so they can just click on them to play them? I'd like to just use the title of the song like
Artist - Song title instead of like C:usermusicArtist - Song title.Mp3.
way to display the name of a file in a textbox from an openfiledialog (including the file type) For example: Instead of "C:Users eadme.txt", to display just "readme.txt" in the textbox.
Edit: AND if possible, how to display the inverse, too ("C:Users", instead of "C:Users eadme.txt" or something)
Let's say, when you click a button it just opens a specified .txt file and adds the data of it to a listbox. I mean automatically, without that file opening dialog showing?
im trying to make an application which on start ask the user to browse for a .lnk file Once the lnk file has been browsed,the application is shown and there are two buttons
1.Launch
2.Exit
When The Launch Button Is Clicked,The .lnk File which the user browsed to at application startup should open. On exit,well it just exits the application! and the openfiledialog should pop up only for the first time the user ever opens the application.the file path should be stored in a .txt or .ini or registry file so that next time he doesnt have to browse for it again..how would i go about doing this!Here is my code so far! I am having a funny problem with OpenFileDialog that I just cannot solve. Using VB.NET 2008 Pro.
Problem: I run my program and click the menu item associated with this OFD and the OFD opens fine. When I select a file and click OPEN the dialog disappears then reappears. I click OPEN again and it disposes itself then loads the proper file into a form. The same thing happens with the CANCEL button as well.
Question: How do I go about coding the OFD to open a file that has been double clicked on thus bypassing dialogresult.OK . I can't seem to find an answer to this.
I am currently working on a school database that I am having troubles with. I have the Table Adapters, Binding Source, and DataGridView all working, along with the Insert, Update and Delete Commands. I have the user open up the SubjectForm. On this form the user is looking at a DataGridView of the subjects table and everything that is in it. When the user clicks add new on the right side, it opens up a new form called AddNewSubject. When the user gets done adding the new subject in, a dialog box appears and says that the subject was added successfully. After the user clicks exit, it takes them right back to the SubjectForm where the DataGridView is. My question is, how do I update the data in that grid so that after the user clicks exit on the AddSubject Form, the new data will appear in the grid? I have tried a combination of things and they haven't worked. I will add my code at the bottom.[code]....
I'm curently trying to get information displayed in a listbox from a selection made in a datagridview. For example a user selects an artist from the treeview control and it displays all the albums by that artist in the datagridview. Once a user selects an album all information for that album is displayed below the datagridview in either a listbox or listview control. I've tried dragging the conrols from the datasource and it' won't drag onto the listbox. What do I need to do to get it so that it will display album, artist and track information?

Im using visual basic 2010 and im building a program that will basically, you click on something in the list it will automatically open a .dat file pull the information that it needs, and then proceed to enter it into a box on the right. I have a program that needs to display a playlist of songs, for a band performing someplace, from a .txt file. The songs in the file are listed as follows:

The first line is the song's title and group name. The second is the songs genre. The third line is the songs length, 4.25 is 4 minutes and 25 seconds.upon clicking a button, I need to display a playlist from this .txt file based on the number of minutes the band has to play, minutes entered into a TextBox, and the songs genre, selected from a ComboBox. The songs cannot repeat and must be random.I have already coded the program to read the .txt file but have not clue where to start with the rest.

When I select multiple paths from openFileDialog in my listBox control enter only one path by try. This is probably because that I use OpenFileDialog.FileName. I wish to load all selected files in one time...but in this case Add(OpenFileDialog.FileNames) give me the value stringArray in same listBox. I suppose that maybe exict peace of code through ItemCollection which give me opportunity that I import all file path in one try in listBox control. It was interesting because how I may implementing matrix between openFileDialog and listBox..
I am trying to select a folder in a very similar way that we do using "OpenFileDialog". I searched for different sites and did find something but all of codes were tweaking "OpenFileDialog" and selected files..... I have seen applications where the select dialog box does NOT show the "File Type" as well as the "Open" button has "Select" name on it. Any idea how to get such dialogbox?
I want the title bar to display the name of the file currently open or untitled (and maybe a * when it is unsaved) by the way this is all for a little notepad like program. and secondly, I would like there to be a button that the user can press so that the current document can be opened up into a internet browser so the html code inside if any will appear as a webpage.

Ive figured out how to open a file to read and then display it, and i can probably work out how to write a string to a file. The part i am stumped by is this. Say i open a text file with the following text I has a badger i then want to correct this to I have a badger.
Its just an example and not for a grammar corection program. What i want to do is detect what was said and alter it acordingly. I presume this would come under string manipulation but i cant find any details on this.
I am using VB2005 and trying to put an application together.What it needs to do is retrieve information from a binary file, possibly alter that information, and put it back into a new file.The file is a .wav file with data appened to the end. There is an additional section at the end of the .wav file which stores xml data.I have found that if I open this in a hex editor and make a 1:1 swap on any of the bytes that the application that the file is for can still read the XML.If I tried to add or remove characters from the XML then it would not read. I located a header byte and incremented it to resolve this.
This worked as an excellent bandage to do conversions where the data always needed to be changed to the same thing.What I have been asked to do is build logic that allows for different things to happen depending upon what data is contained within the file.The method that I am currently trying to impliment is:
Read through the file with a system.io.binaryreader
Searche for a bytestream that will signal data is coming
For example:

And then extract all the data till the end of element marker "<" It seemed like there should be a better way and I was looking for some insight. If I proceed with this method, I will have to read the file one time to gather the information and then a second time to write it all out with the header modified for length.This is my first experiene with working with binary files in this way.Also,I've been experiementing with building a string and slapping it back in at the end using the binarywriter.write(string) method.I noticed that it was putting in header characters before the string.These seem to change if I change the length of the string.At one point it was d0 07. Later it became e7 07. Does anyone know of a way to prevent this header from being inserted?
I tried a for each loop to grab all of the characters from the string, convert them to a byte array and deposit the byte array into the file, but the header remained the same. When I write the byte array generated from a system.io.binaryreader I do not get this header.
I have a database that contains a file path in 4 of the columns. I am using VB Express 2008 on Windows 7 (I have already figured out the 32bit to 64bit problem while working with access databases). This path is generated from code on another form. I have a datagridview that contains the path in a columns. i want to be able to click on the file path column and the file (in this case it is either a .jpg or .pdf) opens.
