you know how you can call the Trim function like this TrimmedString = SomeString.Trim Is there a way for me to make a string manipulation function in that format? A Period instead of Parenthesis?
I have a Label that is being updated with numbers and some symbols, and when the Length is > 13 it automatically trims the right to the closest space or sysmbol. How can I trim the right end of the string to maximize characters. [code]
I have a web application where the user uses an HTML editor to input some formatted text to show on the website. This text is stored, as HTML, in a database. It turns out now, after some time, that users are sometimes entering whitespace (newlines, spaces, etc) before and/or after the text they are entering, and this whitespace shows up in the rendered text on the page. Multiple sets of this text are displayed top to bottom, and due to this whitespace the separation between bits of text varies, which doesn't look very pretty. So, I've been asked to get rid of the whitespace automatically.
Seemed like an easy task at first, I'd just call Trim on the string. But that won't work, the 'whitespace' when rendered isn't actually whitespace at all, it's a bunch of <br /> or <br> or <br></br> tags, or spaces such as, even empty paragraphs <p></p> sometimes. So calling Trim won't help, I need to get rid of all the tags that would render as whitespace.
The HTML editor control I'm using may or may not have built in support for this, but it doesn't matter, the database is already full with texts that contain these newline tags, so the best option I can see is to simply trim this whitespace before displaying it on the page. [Code]
I'm receiving a byte array from a network device by using the TcpClient class and as I have no idea how much data will be being sent I have to just declare a buffer that is X number of bytes long and keep reading into that until I've got all of the data. I then convert this byte array to a string using Text.Encoding.ASCII.GetString but the problem is that this gets any null bytes that were at the end of the buffer after the string and it includes them in the string. This then means when I do String.EndsWith it doesnt work as I would expect it to because there are just loads of 0 bytes at the end of the string.
Once I had realised that was what was happening (which took a long time as these null bytes are completely invisible when you are looking at the data in String form) I thought fine I'll just use Trim on the string but I've found that this doesnt make any difference at all. I thought Trim was supposed to remove any blank space from the start/end of a string, which I assumed would include empty bytes as well.
So is there any alternative I can use that will trim the empty bytes off the end or do I have to do it the 'manual' way and loop through my byte array before converting it to string and remove any null bytes? One thing that has just popped into my head as I'm typing this is to try using the Chr method and pass it 0 and combine that with Trim like so:
i wanted to ask how to make picturebox1 ,to which functions are already assigned, perform the same function as picturebox2 ,to which no functions are assigned. For example:I have already made picturebox1 and have assigned it alot of function like when play button is pressed then picturebox1.visible = true and when we press pause button picturebox1.visible = false. So now i decided to make a theme and have to remove the picturebox1 and want to allow the picturebox2 to havefunction of picturebox1.But when i disable the theme the function of picturebox1 should go back to picturebox1.
I am trying to convert a DLL function call which has the Callback function routine called within the DLL function call. The DLL function call signature is like this:
I've got a basic logon form where if you enter the right password/username, it redirects you to the "MainMenu" Form How can I make a function called "checkLogon" that checks the username/password text to a variable in that function?
I am having a problem with the BackOrdered Function of my program. I can`t get it to say anything but 0 when I run the program. Another problem I am having is the input box pops up like 6 times and it`s only suppose to once. [Code]
I have some functions in my VB.NET DLL which I can 'hide' from my VB6 app by using the following: <Runtime.InteropServices.ComVisible(False)> But is there a way to make a function ONLY visible to COM clients and not to .NET assemblies? This way I can use Shared methods for the .NET side avoiding the need for an instance declaration.
I am creating a VB 2010 program that lets your select the program(s) you want to install (chkbox) and hit run. Then have it launch the installer ( the file is across the server) and accept the predefined keystrokes to proceed through the installation process. Afterwards, it starts the next install. Below is the code that I have. What i cant get to function is the unit accepting the keystrokes, its almost as if it wont take focus ( even when i have used Appactivate and threading.thread.sleep). I have even gone so far as to identify it as a process to manipulate the thread. To be honest, i'm at a loss and need any help at all. The final sub that contains "btntest" is where I am at currently in my attempts. [Code]
I'm working with this new API that returns some XML. The problem is that the developer has chosen to indent his returned XML and it's driving me nuts. So, I thought I'd just trim it and then use it that way. But it's not working. here is what I'm getting back from the API:
The code, of course, comes back in a StreamReader object called reader. So my plan is to write the UNTABBED XML to a text file. I thought this would work:
dim output as String = reader.ReadToEnd() dim xml as String
'open the file in a try/catch statment. Won't include that here
.... ....
'Now, we're going to remove whitespace using String.Trim() and write it to a file:
xml = output.Trim()
Then I close the file and move on. The problem is that the String.Trim command isn't working! When I open the file, the indentations ARE STILL THERE and it's throwing everything off.
I'm a bit confused at why this code does not trim "say" but instead only the first letter "s".
Public Class Form1 Public Declare Function GetAsyncKeyState Lib "user32" (ByVal vkey As Integer) As Integer Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
I just started learning visual basic in VB 2005 express today, and the only other programming language I have used is AutoIt. Now in Autoit there is a function called "pixelsearch" where it allows you to specify a color, and coordinates left, top, right, bottom to search for a pixel that matches the specified color Example:$psearch = pixelsearch(0, 50, 100, 75, 16172309)
I have a VB.Net exe application that has a function in it that contains my encryption method that is used through out my application. This function is used to generate all my encrypted passwords and files etc. therefore for obvious reasons I do not want this to be visible to end users. In my application this is fine as it is compiled as a .exe. However I want to now create a ASP.Net web based version of my application.
Now here comes the question, if I was to create a web version of my application then this function would be visible to the end users along with a large number of other functions that if edited could bypass security and license control.I would like to know what is the best way to keep my ASP.Net webbased version secure from tampering, or is ASP.Net not the best for this?
I`ve this function search if process is running so where do i have to add this ? Public Declare Function OpenProcess Lib "kernel32" ( _ ByVal dwDesiredAccess As Long, ByVal bInheritHandle As Long, ByVal dwProcessId As Long) As Long Public Declare Function CloseHandle Lib "kernel32" ( _
At present I am trying to publish a program which I changed an IP address in but it is bringing me back two errors which are as follows:
TRIM IS NOT A MEMBER OF SYSTEM.NET.MAILADDRESS
and
DATABASECREATIONSCRIPTS IS NOT A MEMBER OF RESOURCES
What I cannot understand is why these errors are appearing as this program has been published before (not by myself) and is working correctly. All I have changed is the IP address which the program connects to in several different places. No hardcoding has been changed.
I am trying to use socket to transfer byte to client. I define Byte(1024) because I am not sure how many character is the server sending! I don't know how many index of this array has been occupied!?
I have this string that shall come in from another file. The string has maximum length of 102 digits. I need to compare the string with numbers in a pair and delete those from that string.
e.g - 6125223659587412563265... till 102
numbers that compare with this string-
first set - 61
new string = 25223659587412563265
second set - 36
new string = 252259587412563265
and so on. the set of numbers shall go to maximum of 51 pairs = 102, which shall give an end result of string = "" How can i achieve this in a loop?
this is not answer, this is editing the question. i dont know why but the edit button just vaniashed so i have to edit question here. No duplicates will ever be in this string. and in the end when compares are done, i want to see what numbers are left in pairs.
I'm writing a simple application in vb.net and need to output some information to a log file for diagnostic purposes. In order to ensure that the log file doesn't get too big, I need to trim it to a certain number of lines (say 5000). For performance reasons, the trimming doesn't have to occur each time a log entry is written out nor is it critical that trimming occurs (for example, if the application crashes prematurely).
However I'm not really sure the best way to trim it. Loading the entire log into memory and then re-writing only the last 5000 lines back out would work, but I'm sure there is a cleaner and better way to do this.
