I have a program which runs mainly though a NotifyIcon in the bottum right of my windows screen (XP). Whenever I open the ContextMenuStrip that appears when the icon is right clicked, a box also appears in the task bar. I also have nested menus inside the menu (mouse over one item leads to another menu), and each additional menu also creates a taskbar box upon appearing. So once I am at the third or fourth nested menu, there would be 3 or 4 windows appearing in the taskbar. After the menu disapears, so do the windows in the taskbar. How can I stop the taskbar from displaying boxes to represent these menus? I have done nothing in my code as far as I know to create this type of behavior. I have searched for similar problems but have found nothing similar. There is no "showintaskbar" property for these items as far as I can see, and no other property that I can find which would affect this. I have investigated the owner of the contextmenustrip since I read the owner may effect these type of behaviors, but that doesnt seem to be helpful as there isn't an owner property of the contextmenustrip.
I need to make a web browser that uses my home internet connection from anywhere.I plan to have the web browser connect to my router/computer where it will request the desired web pages and have the page data sent back to the browser client. The browser must only have a connection with my IP, and not request the web pages from their web URL.How can i do this and what will i need to set up on my home computer?
I am trying to make it so that my form application can have hot links to any other program on your computer by simply having the user input the target path of the program and also save that so the user does not have to do it all over again every time.
Using the following If GeBrowse.DownloadString("URL GOES HERE").Contains("CHECKS FOR TEXT HERE.") Then Something goes here If there is no apparent internet connection, how would i create an error handling Message box or something of the sort?
I'm currently working on a VB 2008 course of Michael Halverson, and I'm stuck at an assignment where I'll have to expand a previous wood order program so customers can add woodcuts to their orderIn the newer program a customer can define 4 coordinates (x & y for startpoint and x & y for endingpoint), after clicking on the button 'Next cut' a line will be drawn on screen (in PanelCuts) with a maximum of ten lines. After finishing, the coordinates must be saved in the order.txt, and when the client re-select the order in the main order program, they can review and adjust / remove the already specified cuts.Right now I'm at the point that the you can enter the coordinates, and the line will be drawn.
- What's the best way to store the submitted cuts, in a Label? array? or something else?
- When the form reloads, how to displays all previous made cuts? Can i count the numer of cuts and with For i = 1 to combined with SelectedItem. Split() ? [code]

had 3 courses in computer science 10 years ago and decided to go into economics. After a 6 year and continuing career in economics, I decided to dabble in code to assist my economic career. In this pursuit, I have developed some neat things, but I have a simple problem. I code an application, hit build, hit publish, receive a setup and manifest, then put it on my usb drive. Plug the usb drive into another computer. Drag the setup and manifest to the hard drive, hit the button, a graphic regarding Launching Application comes up, then immediately a window comes up stating:
Cannot Start Application.Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files. Contact application vendor for assistance.
The errors stem from the manifest file. It says downloading the file (file path) Hello.exe.manifest did not succeed. It then follows with 3 lines of filepaths for the Hello.exe.manifest.
I am running VB 2010 express. I made a slot machine game for my mother for her birthday one Computer A. I moved the published files to Computer B as described above to test before giving to my mother. The game isn't too important at this point because I tried to test whether the game itself was the problem or if it was my error in lack of knowledge of how to deploy. As such, I created a program called Hello. In Hello, there is simply a form1 and a button1. When clicked, button1 displays a messagebox with some text. Not a rocket science program.
My intention is simply this:Allow the Hello program to be put on another computer via a USB drive and then installed. The two computers are not networked and let's assume the second computer cannot connect to the internet. When I go to the wizard, I select the location I want to publish to. In this situation, my desktop.Next, I select CD-ROM/DVD-ROM instead of UNC path or website. I don't know what UNC path is. I presume CD-ROM/DVD-ROM would be similar to USB drive in that it is a removal data storage item.I chose that the application will NOT check for updates. Finally, I receive this:The application will be published to:
file:///C:/Users/ComputerA/Desktop/
Where I find the files, put them on the USB drive and try to install on Computer B.Also, for more information, I can use those files on the originating computer and they do SUCCESSFULLY install and I can use the application. I have not figured out why it will not install on another computer.
I have a small webbrowser but when I try to navigate to a certain webpages the webpage show a warning to force me to upgrade my webbrowser also internet explorer:"Upgrade your browser for a better Myspace experience. We recommend one of the following browsers to provide the best and most reliable experience on Myspace. Please visit Settings, and select f12 Developer Tools. In this window, make sure "Browser Mode" is set to Internet Explorer 9 and "Document Mode" is set to Internet Explorer 9 standards"
I have a number of FTP routines all based on the code below. Why does this take 15 seconds to run the first time? [Code] If I use an FTP program like FileZilla or CuteFTP to connect to the same FTP server they make a very much quicker connection. Any ideas?
I'm using VB.NET 2010, and Microsoft SQL Server 08 Express. I've never done a data bound project before so forgive me if I have no clue what I'm doing.
I have a dataset that I created through the wizard, to pull the data and their types from the database tables and prevent some of the headaches of creating the tables and data types individually.I am looking for where the database connection for the dataset is defined at so I can change this. The reason being is I have added a database connection dialog where the user will select the location of the database server and I am wanting to pass the connection string from what the user selects to the dataset so the dataset uses this as its connection string instead of the default one I defined in the wizard.Where is this defined at so I can change it?
What is the best practice way of detecting internet connection?
From Windows Vista onwards, a status is set in windows that is displayed in the task bar. However, I cannot call this function/api/whatever, since some of the client pc's are still on xp, and only due for upgrade in 18 months.
so do i use and request something like [url]... to try and see it it works, and on the catch block set the return value to false, or is there another way?
Second part of this question, If no network connection is available, I can use [url]... to dial a connection. Will this use internet explorer's settings, or dial the connection marked as default in DUN?
