I'm trying to do a multiple file copy and I can't seem to get anything to work properly. Currently I just have one form with a source selection which is an open file dialog and I can select multiple files. But I'm not too certain where to go from there. What should I be using for the actual file names them selves?I'm not sure what I need to do in order to get the file names of the open file dialog in order to copy them.
This one has been troubling me for some time , i keep coming back to it researching it for a couple of days on and off then get disheartened and give up for a while.Basically i want to copy one file in to multiple folders that have the same structure except for one distinction
I have a document that has bookmarked tables I create a new document using this document as a template I then loop through the tables and cut them off to the clipboard I would like to save each of these tables as a variable or value and paste them back in a user definied order This could be like Table1,Table7,Table1,Table2,Table4 Or any combination required I have looked at Clipboard.SetData and GetData but just cannot seem to store the tables I can do text, and images of pictures but cannot seem to get tables working?
I found this program and am amazed: [url] The promises is simple: copy larges file, to multiple removable drives in one go (instead of creating one separate process per copy), in order to make the copy FAST.
Publisher comments: "Rapid Copy is capable of copying data to the several destinations in one time. Lightning fast, Rapidcopy make backups and copies to up to 8 drives simultaneously." This was made using DotNet, since the framework is a prerequisite. Big Question: Is this REALLY possible? Does anyone here have an ideia on how this can be accomplished using VB.NET?
I created a Right-Click Menu option for files. When the user clicks the menu option it will copy all of the file paths to the clipboard. The following function I have will retrieve all of the filepaths to the clipboard. The problem lies in adding the filepaths to the listbox. If I turn single instance application off the result is multiple instance of the application for each filepath. Say for example I selected 2 files and clicked my right-click menu, I wind up with 2 instance of my exe with each file path added to the listbox, 1 in one listbox, the other file path in the second instance listbox.
Public Sub getthepath() Try Dim thefilepath As String
[code]....
Is there a way to loop through each file path from the clipboard and add them to the listbox through a loop?Several times I have tried different ideas I had that I thought would do it and I got odd results but never a good result.
I'm trying to write a program where people can click a browse button, click a file to copy, and then click a second browse button and click a destination folder. I've tried
and get the error "Could not complete operation since a directory already exists in this path 'C:UsersSamDesktop'."
FileCopy TextBox1.Text, TextBox2.Text gives me "The target file "C:UsersSamDesktop" is a directory, not a file."
Both methods work if I put C:UsersSamDesktop'filename'.'extension' in the destination. But I want the user to be able to select the destination without having to type a new file name.
I am wanting the most efficient way to copy a file with a progress bar updating the copy percentage.
This is the standard copy code I am using:
System.IO.File.Copy(source,target)
This is very fast and efficient. However, I cannot report the copy percentage. I have tried many functions that read and save a file by opening up the filestream and then looping while reading/writing the data. This enables me to report the progress.
Here are the functions that I am using:
Public Sub SaveBinaryFile(strFilename As String, bytesToWrite() As Byte) Dim position As Integer = 0 Dim BufferSize As Integer = 4096
i have this code to copy a file from one location to another but i am wanting to add a progress bar to show the % of the files copied, after doing alot of reasearch on the interent i carnt find any examples out there which does what i want it seems the way i am copying the file it would only increse the progress after its finished copying each file insted of increaseing the % of the bar per say 1kb this is my file copying
I found this code which alows you to copy files using the windows api, this code works perfect untill the directory that you are copying from contains sub folders (which i need to be able to do). I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction if not sugets an alternative.
I am making a program where I want to copy & rename a file. I want to copy a file from a directory which I can choose (by OpenFileDialog1.FileName), then copy or move it to a directory. This directory has been newly made and named (progdirCollin). Let's say the file is called cv.pdf then I want it to be moved to the new dir and rename it Collin.pdf. The extensions can also be .rtf or .doc and I want them to be left unchanged. So I want to copy or move a file, rename it, but keep the extension of the file, which can be all kinds of file (vb.pdf to collin.pdf or vb.txt to collin.txt.)
Explained : 1. Put in the name of the person = V 2. Pick a file with the openfiledialog = V 3. Make a directory with the name of the person in the appdir = V 4. Copy / Move the file to the new directory = V 5. Then rename the file to the persons name, but keep the .doc / .pdf / .rtf etc = ? All V = Done
What this code will do to the copy? vb Using source As New IO.FileStream("source path here", IO.FileMode.Open) Using target As New IO.FileStream("destination path here", IO.FileMode.Create) Const BUFFER_SIZE As Integer = 1024 Dim buffer(BUFFER_SIZE - 1) As Byte [Code] .....
Public Class Form1 Private Delegate Function CopyProgressRoutine(ByVal totalFileSize As Int64, ByVal totalBytesTransferred As Int64, ByVal streamSize As Int64, ByVal streamBytesTransferred As
I'm calling a 3rd part app which 'sometimes' works in VB.NET (it's a self-hosted WCF). But sometimes the 3rd party app will hang forever, so I've added a 90-second timer to it. Problem is, how do I know if the thing timed out?
Code looks like this:
Dim MyProcess as System.Diagnostics.Process = System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(MyInfo) MyProcess.WaitForExit(90000)
What I'd like to do is something like this
If MyProcess.ExceededTimeout Then MyFunction = False Else MyFunction = True End If
Before I begin I would like to mention that I am not a noob in VB, it's just I've never had to do anything this complex before.Basically what I want is to have a program that you can load a txt file in, have it copy key words, and paste it in a textbox so I can use it later on.So in this text file, there is a bunch of info, but I am only needing a certain part. Here is an example of a text file (actually a .dat file, but is easily read):
s t y l e T h e m e d s h y - A l p i n e V i l l a g e S e t S t y l e & h y - a v p o s t 1 H a n g 3 , V ¯s t y l e T h e m e d s h y - A l p i n e V i l l a g e S e t S t y l e , y - a v p o s t 1 H
I have a program that uses IO.File.Copy to copy files from point a to point b. Its slow, which is fine because there rather large files. I was wondering if there is way to get an estimate time to copy a particular file(s).
Example: File a will take 1 hour to copy, File B will take 30 minutes to copy. Estimate Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes.
how can i either copy/move/rename & delete a file in program files directory? [c ode]i already have the form which grabs the updated file and it save it to temp directory ready for copying, just stuck here as of the access denied.
I'm currently making a program in Visual Basic 2010 for my Course work, and I'm struggling a little as it involves a "log-in system."
The system will save the Users Information in a folder (Called UserInfo.txt) (Address, Password, Email etc..), and the folder name being the username of the User.
When an Admin wants to view or edit a User, I want the Admin to be able to select the User from a drop-down list and when selected, the information of the user loads in and is displayed in the text boxes bellow (on the same form). The Information can then be edited and Saved back to the file of that user selected with a "Save" button.
I have a client app written in vb.net 2010 which communicates with my auth server via php scripts. I had found and used code previously that uploaded a single file to my server. I'm now trying to convert the headers and code to make it upload multiple files in a single query. The first code block will be the original code by the original author (from a different site), and the second code block will be my current nonfunctional code.
I'm about 99.9% sure the problem is with the header which is being submitted to the server.
Dim filepath As String = IO.Path.Combine(Application.StartupPath, "filename.ext") Dim url As String = "http://www.FAKESITE.com/php/Upload/index.php" Dim boundary As String = IO.Path.GetRandomFileName
I have a weird behavior when trying to copy a file with System.IO.File.Copy. The file never gets copied. More than that, the call doesn't generate an exeption!
I am using VB.NET, Framework 3.5. I'm trying to copy in C:Temp and I do have the privileges. Or at least I used to...
I have written a program in VB 2010 that dumps documentation info into an Excel file. Basically, the Excel file is a log file that keeps track of revisions for design drawings at an engineering firm.
There are approximately 20 people that have access to this program. However, I've run into issues where multiple users may be using the program and trying to send info to the Excel file at the same time. The Excel file is set to read only. My program opens the file with write access, and dumps the info into the appropriate cells, then closes the file. If one person is in the process of using the program, it causes an error with another persons system if they try to use it at the same time.
In some cases, it causes my program to crash, and it leaves the Excel file open on someones system.
Typically, my program would only have the Excel file open for a couple seconds. So, the issues mentioned above are rare, but they do happen.
I'm looking for ideas to prevent this issue from occuring.
As a college project, I'm making a basic web browser, which contains all of the basic functions such as copy, cut, paste, delete, load a webpage, save as, print, etc. At the moment, I can copy from the HTML document, but I can't actually copy from the URL input bar. How do I do it so that when I click "Copy" it will copy the text to the clipboard, no matter what field has focus. So for example, if text in the URL bar has been selected, and the URL bar has focus, then copy that text to the clipboard; but if something in the HTML document has been selected, then copy that.At the moment, I'm using this to copy, cut, paste, etc. from the HTML document:
I made an application that searches for an text file and copy it toc: est. But when is find multiple files i cant copy it because it will overwrite the file in c: est *.txt.Is there a way i can copy a file and Keep the origional file name?[code]...
I am running Visual Basic Express 2008. I realize this forum category is for VB6 or earlier, so please kindly inform me of where to post this if this is incorrect. This is actually the first forum I have joined ever because I can't figure it out on my own and can't find the code off the website. I am almost done, i I have a ComboBox and 4 text boxes. At the bottom it has CLEAR, UNDO CLEAR, COPY ALL TO CLIPBOARD & COPY SOLUTION which does so for the ComboBox and all 4 text boxes. The format like this (CORP is the ComboBox):
CORP - Workstation - Won't power on - HOSTNAME/USERNAME PROBLEM/REQUEST: started happening today
[code]....
And then due to the ticket entry system we use, I have a separate COPY SOLUTION button and that works just fine, but that would read as:
Dispatching tech
Now here's where I'm caught up on, I need to take a textbox where I don't use it because I don't have a use for it dependent on the issue of the person I'm working with and it'll look like this:
CORP - Windows - Password Reset - USERNAME
But, this is where I'm getting stuck, it keeps putting stuff like:
CORP - Windows - Password Reset - /USERNAME or - Windows - Password Reset - /USERNAME
I have 2 sheets in a workbook that have links on them. I need to copy both sheets into this new workbook at the same time to update the links and not have sheets looking for the original workbook (it just temporary and deleted after the copy). I thought I had it, but I cannot figure out how to deal with the array that is needed (I copied the code from macro builder in excel)..
