Recored Arrow Keys And Then Tell Computer To Enter Arrow Keys?

May 23, 2010

So I found this little morpg. The game is fun but really repetitive. I would like to simplify some of the tasks in the game. I do not know how to start this project. How can I recored arrow keys and then tell the computer to enter the arrow keys? One of the objectives in the game is to run around a farm 2x and scare away any wolfs. So the commands would be "arrow key up" for 30sec and then "arrow key right" for 4 sec and repeat. I have worked with robots in real life for some time. We would fill arrays with such instructions. One of the most fun things to program! But I have no idea how to do this in VB.

3D Object Rotation In 2008?

May 19, 2009

I'm developing a sun shading analysis tool, and part of the analysis involves rotating a house (modelled as a cube consisting of 8 points) by the solar azimuth and solar altitude angles. The reason for this is to determine if the wall in question is facing the sun, and if so I run a shading analysis using a scanline algorithm to determine the percentage of wall plane that is in shade from a tree in the yard (this is modeled using overlapping 2D polygons). The purpose of the rotation and tilt of the object is so that the wall plane is directly perpendicular to the sun, so that the analysis can be done in 2D as opposed to 3D.

I first rotate each point of the house (which is stored in an array) through the azimuth, and then tilt it up through the solar altitude angle. I have set up my 3D coordinate system using the standard right-hand rule for orientation of the x,y,z axes. I'm using a basic rotation matrix as follows:For the azimuth, I am rotating around the z-axis, so I am using the following matrix transformation.
[x',y'] = [x*cos(azimuth) - y*sin(azimuth) , x*sin(azimuth) + y cos(azimuth)]For the altitude, I am rotating the object about the x-axis to tilt it up. I use the initial z-coordinate and the transformed y'-coordinate for the altitude tilt calculation. Each point, when completely rotated and tilted, will have a distinct set of coordinates: [x', y'', z'].Individually, the rotation and tilt work fine. But when I try to do them consecutively, I run into problems.

VS 2010 Search Listview: Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object?

Jan 18, 2011

I'm using the following code to try and search a listview (I got it from msdn):

Dim atem As New ListViewItem = ListView1.FindItemWithText(TextBox2.Text, True, 0, True)

If atem IsNot Nothing Then
ListView1.TopItem = atem
End If

Then I got the " Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error highlighting the following line: ListView1.TopItem = atem So then I tried this:

Dim atem As New ListViewItem atem = ListView1.FindItemWithText(TextBox2.Text, True, 0, True)

If atem IsNot Nothing Then ListView1.TopItem = atem End If it still isn't working.

Flattening An Object Hierarchy Using A Shim Class - Initializing Derived Object Properties From The Base Object?

Jul 10, 2010

I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:

newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class

flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class

Code example:

Public Class derivedObj
Inherits baseObj
Private _newProperty1 As String[code].......

Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? The following code uses reflection to iterate over the properties individually, but I suspect there may be a better way.

Code example:

' property names are in the string array fieldNames

'baseObjQuery is an ienumerable of baseObj

'derivedObjList is a list of derivedObj[code].....

Is there a simple way to initialize values for the properties in the derived object based upon the values of the common properties in the base object?

Iterate Through The Keys And Values Collections Of A Dictionary Object Using An Index?

Apr 25, 2009

I have a VB.NET project where I am able to iterate through the keys and values collections of a dictionary object using an index:

MyDictionary.Keys(idx)
MyDictionary.Values(idx)

When this code is taken from the test project and placed into the real project I get the following error:

'System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary(Of Double, String).KeyCollection' cannot be indexed because it has no default property.[code]...

In the line in sub search that says "dtf.Keys(idx) = 0" place your cursor after the right parenthesis and backspace you should get a tooltip that says, "<Extension> ElementAtOrDefault(index as Integer) as Double - index: the zero based element of the index to retrieve.

Key Up And What Are Arrow Keys

Dec 18, 2010

I want to change the "a" and "d" to key controls left and right perspectively. and I am having some trouble wiht the key up event. KeyChar works for KeyDown (after I forced it to) but not for KeyUp (even though they share the same things). I finally figured out how to get the picturebox to change its picture, but now I am stuck at this part. getting an animation in, and when im done moving, get the animation back to the idle picture. im also having a little bit of trouble with movement. pictre - as a split second of movement and (space) as a split second of not moving, when i begin moving, lets say it goes this way (there is a space right after the first -, so that was a split second that it stopped and then started continuously started moving again). how can i make it so it goes nice and fluid once you start moving? also, if i were to press any single key while holding A or D down, it either stops and i have to press the key again to move it move or, it goes in the other direction(if I hit a then d, or d then a). and in the key up event, id like it so when the a (or d) key is up, it goes back to the stand animation, and when moving, it goes to the moving animation.
