We have a web service that provides auto insurance quotes and a company that provides an insurance agency management system would like to use the web service for thier client but they want to pass the web service raw xml instead of using the wsdl to create a port, the object the service expects and calling the web method. The web service has performed flawlessly by creating an object like so

I have a VB.NET project where I am able to iterate through the keys and values collections of a dictionary object using an index:
MyDictionary.Keys(idx)
MyDictionary.Values(idx)
When this code is taken from the test project and placed into the real project I get the following error:
'System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary(Of Double, String).KeyCollection' cannot be indexed because it has no default property.[code]...
In the line in sub search that says "dtf.Keys(idx) = 0" place your cursor after the right parenthesis and backspace you should get a tooltip that says, "<Extension> ElementAtOrDefault(index as Integer) as Double - index: the zero based element of the index to retrieve.

I have a problem detecting whether one of the arrow keys is pressed, all the other keys seem to be detected apart from the arrow keys??? I have set key preview to True........ It detects the arrrow keys BUT ONLY if I have NO other controls on the form??? example..
Me.Text = e.keycode
It works, but then if I add a button for example, it stops.

I would like to create/use a system-wide independent universal 'counter object' that can be called via COM in a thread-safe manner. The counter object will be passed an ID to identify which counter to return, handle the counting, 'persist' the count (occasionally), have reasonable performance (as fast as possible) perhaps capable of 1000 counts per second or better (1mS) and be accessible cross-process/out-of-process. The current count status must be persisted between object restarts/shutdowns.
The counter object is liklely to be a 'singleton' type object implemented in some form of free-threaded dictionary, containing maybe 10 counters (perhaps 50 max). The count needs to be monotonic and consistent, (ie: guaranteed unique sequential values).Each counter should have a few methods, like reset, inc, dec, set, clear, remove. As a luxury, I would like to have a variable-increment (ie: 'step by' value). To support thread-safefty, perhaps some sorm of critical-section or mutex call. It just needs to return a long/4byte signed integer.
I really want something that can be called from anywhere, including VBScript, so I figure COM is my preferred solution.The primary use of this is for database keys. I am unable to use autoinc or guid type keys and have ruled out database-generated counting systems at this point.I've spent days researching this and I have really struggled to find a solution. The best I can find is a free-threaded dictionary object that can be instantiated using COM+ from Motobit - it seems to offer all the 'basics' and I guess I could create some form of wrapper for this.

How could I loop through a list of the keys that are available in the 'Keys' enumeration? It seems like it should be something easy to do, but I'm not having any luck finding a collection that I can loop through.

So I found this little morpg. The game is fun but really repetitive. I would like to simplify some of the tasks in the game. I do not know how to start this project. How can I recored arrow keys and then tell the computer to enter the arrow keys? One of the objectives in the game is to run around a farm 2x and scare away any wolfs. So the commands would be "arrow key up" for 30sec and then "arrow key right" for 4 sec and repeat. I have worked with robots in real life for some time. We would fill arrays with such instructions. One of the most fun things to program! But I have no idea how to do this in VB.

I need to capture the left and right arrow keys in Form1.KeyDown event so I can use them as hot keys. Instead they seem to be assigned to tab order (move focus to previous/next control) and the KeyDown event never gets called. How can I remove the arrow keys from tab order and use them for my hot keys instead?

I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class
Code example:
Public Class derivedObj
Inherits baseObj
Private _newProperty1 As String[code].......
Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? The following code uses reflection to iterate over the properties individually, but I suspect there may be a better way.
Code example:
' property names are in the string array fieldNames
'baseObjQuery is an ienumerable of baseObj
'derivedObjList is a list of derivedObj[code].....
Is there a simple way to initialize values for the properties in the derived object based upon the values of the common properties in the base object?

I tried a couple of the send keys and they will not send any keys at all. I need a true Space bar input (SendKeys does not work for me). Also, I would like this to work on 32 and 64 bit computers. Let me know if you know of any good examples. I would love to have the ability to send a string in the future, but I can add that feature myself. [code]

I've tried everything here, but the Amazon Load Balancer API just will not accept my signature.
Whatever I try, I get a "403 SignatureDoesNotMatch" response. I'm probably missing something obvious, but having spent hours trying to figure out what that is, I'm at the end of my tether.
Here's my code:
Public Sub DeregisterInstanceFromLoadBalance(ByVal strServerID As String)
Dim strURL As String
strURL = "http://elasticloadbalancing.amazonaws.com/?"

I have a VBA script that connects to a site.On that site, it puts in criteria to filter on a database. It then submits it.A pop up window appears asking to Open / Save / Cancel. I don't know how to interact with that window.It is possible to Save, and specify the download location without having to use Sendkeys?Note: There is no file to directly download. You have to run the report and it kicks back the file.I know this is VBA, but I think VB.NET has probably has the same result.

Given a texbox, how can I completely ignore non-digit characters? So if I press "A" or "Z", those characters would never appear in the textbox. I'd like to run a bit of code if the user tries to input digits and if he tries to input non-digits too..
