I know what regex.split does. I know what the first parameter is. The second parameter is what I'm confused by. I think it is using the word "go" as a delimiter to split the first parameter into an array of substrings. But I don't understand what that refers to.

I am currently working on a visual basic console application in Visual Studio 2005 which takes various csv files from an osCommerce web shop, processes them and writes the data to TAS Books accounts software with the aid of the Infoplex COM module.
I have 2 functions, one reads each line of a csv file into an array, and the second function uses Regex to split the lines array into the various fields before they are added to a structure.
There are something like 5000 records (lines) in the csv file, one example is as follows;

My problem is that due to the formatting of the product description in the example csv line above, it fails the Regex match and therefore fails to read.
I know this is because my pattern is wrong, but I'm not sure how to solve it, I think all I really need is for Regex to split the line by the "," between each element, this might be a little difficult because some of the descriptions contain both , and " but never one after the other.
How could I add array values and populate the results in a specified text box?Then repeat for each line after. Then get a final total.
For example:

The assignment called for a VB.Net (not web based) program that would accept user input for the loan amount, interest rate, and term of loan, and display the monthly payment of the loan then list the loan balance and interest paid over the term of the loan. the list will be longer than the screen so use loops to display a partial list, hesitate, and then display more of the list. So, I did exactly that and the program works fine. However, after submitting this program for grading, The instructor for the class tells me, "One thing you should work on is not using a timer to pause.
You should not use a scroll bar either." He says I should work on loading the results into an array or use a loop with a counter that can be used to display a given number of results with a more results button for displaying more (but without a scroll bar?). Like I said, this program works fine and I am not asking anyone for any specific code (some sort of example would be great but not necessary) What I am asking for is an explanation of how I would go about loading results into an array to be used for displaying just partial results at a time in some way other than I used here: [Code]

I was told that to return the search to an array, I add the return toarray() at the end.
Now obviously Im not getting errors, but I am also not polling the results that are in fileslist.toarray(). I've looked at arrays quite a bit, I see their functionality if they are defined like myarray(4) with 5 declared array values... its an array with 5 value places. And to read from any one of the 5, you'd say something like msgbox(myarray(3)) to call the 3rd place in the array.
Well, as you can tell from the code, I am putting a variable amount of information into the array, How can I call that information? If I scanned a folder with 300 files, how can I call the results of that array and put them in a text file, or console, or messagebox through them? And assume I am doing it through a button click event. So, button click to read all input in the array to console or something like that.

What is the best vb.net based search method that would permit me to search for i.e. "Sheet2" and be able to obtain "Cats"? I attempted to ascertain the index number of "Sheet1" with:

I seem to be having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to add the results from a mySQL query to an array in vb.net. Right now, I only understand that you have to define the dimension of the array, however this is shy of impossible since the dimension of the array will change due to different results from the query. What is the proper way to take my results and put them in an array?
View 12 RepliesI've to make a program that reads an arithmetical sentence from a textbox, e.g 12.3*34+4*5-3 and then on another textbox identify and display what is the content of the first textbox, for example taking the last ex:
If I have this input:

The output should look like this:

This program should only read this operators like (+,-,*,/).I'm have in mind 2 ways of doing it, one with regex and the other taking the first sentence, put it on an array, then trim it, and somehow get the values of the array and identify if it is a number or a decimal number and if it's an operator and then display it.
The difficult part or the part that i can't conceptualize is how to implement it with regex (it should be easier with a regex format than storing it on a array).I write a bit of code, I used an array to store and then to print the numbers and I used the split function to separate the math operator, but I dunno how to print the operators and the tags.

I've created a program that requires students to answer addition questions.I have the code so that it calculates if the answer is correct, along with outputing the correct answer into a textbox.If the answer is correct the textbox background colour changes to green.If the answer is inocrrect the textbox background colour changes to red.I've done this using an array, and I want to use this array to calculate how many questions the students have answered correctly, and output them onto another page.I'm not sure is something like this would work:I was thinking about giving the textbox that outputs the grade score a value of 10. I am having an issue where I am using regex.Replace to replace part of a string. The basic idea is that I want to capture the beginning of the string then replace the end of the string with a value from code. For an example pretend I have a string that says "Test Number " followed by number and I want to increment that number. I capture the "Test Number " but when I try to concatenate that capture with the new number it treats the capture ($1) as a literal and replaces the entire string with $1[new number].
