VS 2010 Ribbon EditBox Dimensions (width)

Apr 12, 2012

I am creating a ribbon for an Office application using VB.NET in Visual Studio2010. I drag an edit box onto the ribbon but am unable to resize it. How would I do that? I want the user to be able to enter and see up to about 20 characters. StringSize does not do the trick.

Read Dimensions (video Height & Width) From Specific File?

Jun 11, 2011

i'm working with visual studio 2010.I need to read out the resolution from a MPEG file. So that would be the video width en height.I think I need to create a button linked to an openfiledialog.show(), and then get a property from the specified file, by passing it on to a function.My question: Does vb.net has build-in methods to gather the property of a file? Or does one know a free com component that does it for me?

Array Dimensions - Error Message 'ReDim' Cannot Change The Number Of Dimensions Of An Array?

Oct 20, 2011

I'm upgrading my VB6 project to VB.NET and I found one of the problem below relating to dimensional array.Here's my VB6 coding :

Private Function ConvertMatrixToBase0(ByVal MyMat() As Double) As Double()
Dim i, j As Long
Dim ConvMat() As Double[code.]...

When i port it over to VB.NET, i encountered error message 'ReDim' cannot change the number of dimensions of an array. for the line highlighted in red. And I suspect that VB.NET need to always define the exact dimension of the array during the declaration. But for the function above, for the array of 'MyMat()', I do not know what is the exact dimension every time it runs, and that is why i need to check the dimension of the array.My question is do we have any solution in dealing unknown dimension array in VB.NET? As in VB6, we can just define Array() instead of Array (,) in VB.NET.

.NET WPF Ribbon 2010 .net 4.0 Does Not Work 3.5 Does

Jul 4, 2011

I just installed Microsoft Ribbon for WPF 2010 on 2 different windows 7 boxes. If I make a .net 3.5 project it works fine but a .net 4.0 it does not.I can load the sample ribbon application and it works but when I drag the ribbon controls over they just make a transparent box. I notice it does not make the XAML correct. Here is the code, 4.0 on top then 3.5 below it. Is there some setting or option I need to change?

<ribbon:Ribbon Height="136" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Name="Ribbon1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="618" />
<ribbon:RibbonGroup Height="100" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="72,36,0,0" Name="RibbonGroup1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="200" />

VS 2010 Using WPF Ribbon In WinForms

I was wondering if it is possible to use the WPF Ribbon in windows forms(they added it in .net 4). I know about the ElementHost Control which works fine for created controls, but it doesn't seem to be able to host default controls, I could create a wpf control and put the ribbon in, but that seems like a terrible hack.(And lots of work since there are lots of controls related to the ribbon)

But the width of the autosuggest dropdown box is not same as that of combo box and so it looks weird.I tried changing the value dropdown width property but it changes the value of normal dropdown box (seen after clicking down arrow on combobox), and not the autosuggest dropdown box.So what code or property needs to be set to make autosuggest dropdown box the same width as that of combobox width?

Printed Line Width Too Wide Even When Pen Width Is 1?

I have a drawing program written in VB6 that is capable of printing very thin lines to a laser printer. In VB .net, even though the pen width is set to 1, the thinnest lines are way too "thick". The equivalent line width in VB .net using a pen width of 1 is about the same as the DrawWidth = 4 in VB6. So, my question is, how can I print very thin lines to a laser printer in VB .net?

VS 2010 DataGridView - Null Reference On Setting Column Width?

Jun 9, 2010

I have a databound DataGridView, and I'd like to keep one column in front, with a slightly smaller width than the default. The grid's AutoSizeColumnsMode property is set to Fill so that the columns fill out the entire grid. This makes the first column equally large as all others, which is why I need to set its width manually. The smaller column is the first one with the checkboxes. I have two grids that I need to do this with, and for some reason it works just fine with the first grid, but gives a null reference error on the second grid...

Here's the code for the first grid (working fine):
vb.net
Public Sub UpdateTodoGrid()
' Load todo items
todoGrid.DataSource = _TodoManager.LoadAll()
' Set backcolor
For Each row As DataGridViewRow In todoGrid.Rows
[Code] .....

As you can see, the code is exactly the same (except for not setting the BackColor of each row and not using the ReadOnly property*). When I run this code, it gives me a null reference error ("Object reference not set to an instance of an object.") on the line where I set the column's Width. Obviously 'col' is not Nothing (otherwise it would have errored before that line), and there's nothing else there that could be Nothing... I assume that something happens internally in the grid when you set the width of a column, and that there is a null reference there, but obviously I have no control over that.

The grid's are absolutely the same, as the second grid is just a 'copy' (meaning I copy/pasted it in the designer) of the first. So all their properties are equal. I thought maybe the ReadOnly properties were the problem, but I tried putting them in in the same way and the issue did not go away... The first grid is not ReadOnly (because the checkboxes need to be editable), but all rows except the first are, while the second grid is completely ReadOnly.

I did try and able to get the matching items to new array. But I am expecting to get the unmatched items only. I am expecting to compare both arrays and put only the item '3' to a new array which is in arr1 and not in arr2
e.g. arr1 -> {1,2,3} and arr2->{1,2} should result a new array with 3
arr1 -> {1,2,3,4} and arr2->{1,2} should result a array with 3,4
Is there any way of doing this for older version of .net framework without using Enumerable.Except
