I have been looking everywhere trying to find how one can code for the datagrid width. I have figured out the individual columns but I want to code for the entire grid width. I am trying to code the datagrid to be the exact total of all of the columns eliminating the horizontal scrollbar and then next I will eliminate the vertical scrollbar for any account that has less than five records.

Width of DataGrid is 880. The default width of 5 columns of data table in DataGrid is 100. So for 5 columns width used = 500. So an empty space of 380 left at the right hand cornor of DataGrid. I want to fill this empty space with these 5 columns. I want to increase the width of columns so that it fully covered in DataGrid.

is there any way to stretch a datagrid's control columns so they would take all the space width of the form?I can set datagrid's dock property to bottom so it will take all the bottom by height but the right side of the data grid will stay empty which is not good.If I set datagrid's dock property to right it jumps all over the form...So I need a way to fill up my datagrid's bottom and right (width) side so I would not have empty space.

I want all the listview columns to be in auto width. I tried adding the next line of code but then only my first column fills my entering listview width. All other columns are not affected!

What I am trying to do is fill the contents of the datagridview with the cell contents. There are two ways to do this.
1) Either set the DGV width to the cell contents width, or
2) Autoadjust the width of the cells to the width of the DGV.
how to implement either of these two approaches?
This Winforms app has a toolStripComboBox within a MenuStrip container that displays Culture Info languages.The toolStripComboBox's width is not expanding to accommodate the size of the string. The strings are dynamically added to the combobox from underlying code. How do I get the comboboxe's width to expand? But the width of the autosuggest dropdown box is not same as that of combo box and so it looks weird.I tried changing the value dropdown width property but it changes the value of normal dropdown box (seen after clicking down arrow on combobox), and not the autosuggest dropdown box.So what code or property needs to be set to make autosuggest dropdown box the same width as that of combobox width?

What I am trying to figure out how to do is resize all of the buttons in width when the panel is resized in width. [Code] Is there something simpler to do this as I will eventually have 3 panels with 8 buttons on each one that would need to be resized at the same time. In VB this was controlled by an index and a for next loop, but I see no way to create a control array for all the buttons when they are on separate panels.

In VB .net, even though the pen width is set to 1, the thinnest lines are way too "thick". The equivalent line width in VB .net using a pen width of 1 is about the same as the DrawWidth = 4 in VB6. So, my question is, how can I print very thin lines to a laser printer in VB .net?

View 2 RepliesThe problem is that if you never enter anything into a cell for a new row then that cell is never validated. This is a problem because I have columns that should not be null. I am doing the check in the row level validation and storing the information about which cells are empty that should not be empty. The row level validation works fine and the row level validation error indicator goes on,(red exclamation mark at the beginning of the row) but I also need a visual indicator on the individual cells that are in error.
I am thinking that setting the HasError property for the cells that are in error should cause them to display n error style (the default red border). Is there a way to this this either from XAML (perferably) or from code?Alternatively I could cause those cells to re-validate when the row editing is finished. Does anyone know how to do this?
when ever the form resizes I want my combobox (placed in a toolstrip) to increase or decrease in length to make sure it fits. Say it's about 500px before the combobox and I need about 200px after it. How would I do this? I've tried the various methods for the textbox, but I can't get it to work with the combobox.

I have a custom datagridview control. I am loading data into it row by row. The control does not resize its cell width to its content. It only does so if I set autosize column property to Fill or AllCells. The problem is I can not use autosize because its killing my performance as I am loading large amount of data into the grid.
The cell does not display the contents completely, it just clips it. e.g for "sampletext" it would display "Samplet..." .
I want the cell to be resized according to the cell that contains the longest string value.

View 4 RepliesI have a comboboxcolumn in a DataGridView. I have loaded int with string data that appears in the dropdown box. I have added an event to it for an SelectedIndexChanged. What I am trying to do is autosize the width of the cell in the column based on the string chosen in the drop-down box within this SelectedIndexChanged event. This seems to work but it does not work off the initial selection change. When I select the desired string in the dropdown box the width of the cell does not autosize. I am not sure why.
I was trying to get around this by wrapping an IF stmt around the autosize logic by saying if cell value = "" then cell.width = Max Width of all loaded strings/ However, I can't figure out how to access the string array loaded into the dropdown list

What im trying to do is, when I click on any row on my datagrid(dgvCompositions), all the cells(16 columns excluding ID column) in that row must be loaded into the 16 textboxes I have (txtB1, txtB2, txtB3....)
So when I click the row, and the entire row is highlighted the text from the cells get loaded into the textboxes.
I know how to pull data or text from specific cells clicked

I have searched alot but can only find info on moving entire rows bound between 2 datagrids, but noting on moving single cells. I have some code below that works ok from DGV to textboxes but not from DGV1 to DGV2.
