VS 2008 Stretch A Datagrid's Control Columns So They Would Take All The Space Width Of The Form?
Apr 27, 2009
is there any way to stretch a datagrid's control columns so they would take all the space width of the form?I can set datagrid's dock property to bottom so it will take all the bottom by height but the right side of the data grid will stay empty which is not good.If I set datagrid's dock property to right it jumps all over the form...So I need a way to fill up my datagrid's bottom and right (width) side so I would not have empty space.
This might be a simple question, but how do I automatically have my form adjust it's width to the size of the screen on startup? I also need it to dock on the very bottom of the screen at startup, and it needs to stay above all other open programs.
I am using DataGrid control in VB. I have created a DataTable at runtime and added 5 columns in this Datatable. I binded the data table with DataGrid control.
Width of DataGrid is 880. The default width of 5 columns of data table in DataGrid is 100. So for 5 columns width used = 500. So an empty space of 380 left at the right hand cornor of DataGrid. I want to fill this empty space with these 5 columns. I want to increase the width of columns so that it fully covered in DataGrid.
I have one data grid which contains a column which contains long string values. When I edit it, the text box which appears is very small. I want to increase the length of text box.
I have a datagrid on my form that has a dataset bound to it via the datagrid properties Tables collection. I have the PreferredColumnWidth property of the datagrid set to 75. How can I change the column width in code to match my column header text?
I need to stretch the form according by the users screen. My application has to run maximized, but other users may have different resolutions sat and they won't see the whole program or will see it smaller than their screen.
This may affect the resolution, what code would do that?
maybe something like: get resolution (x:y) and set size width and height but I would still need to stretch all the other controls within the form as well.
I have some questions formating my datagrid and its columns but unfortunately unsuccessfully. How to change the alignment of a DataGridViewTextBoxColumn? I could only set the alignment of the whole datagrid. I tried to do this by code but it didn't do anything: datagridOnlineStores.Columns("osowner").DefaultCellStyle.Alignment = DataGridViewContentAlignment.MiddleRight I tried defaultcellstyle but it doesn't do anything then is there any way I could change the color of the border of the whole datagrid because it's black I don't like it.
I have a datagridview and few testbox. User types in the details into the text box and when pressed enter it adds to the datagridview. Now the question is user will be allowed to save the rows into a text file but it in not saving in a proper format ie i am getting as:
Quantity Name Rate -------------------- 12 wers 30 2323 ertd 40
I set the width for my ListView columns in the designer, in run time they always shrink back. I have no idea why, could anyone shed some light on this for me - possibly a solution to keeping them exactly the way I set them in designer ?
I need to set some of the columns in a DGV to specific widths. What I am looking for is to line the columns up with the labels above them. I am trying to do it like this(the numbers are just for testing):
what I might have to change in the properties of the DGV for the code to set the widths, I've changed so many that I am not sure what the default settings are any more. Also the look of the form is not open to suggestion as this is what the customer wants.
how to adjust the width of the listview and also the datagridview to the width of the form.Because I want it to be able to follow the form's width and when maximized the form, the listview or the datagridview will also be maximized to the form's width.
I have an integer array which contains the different col widths for an range of excel worksheet.when i use Range.ColumnWidth= ColWidths (Colwidths is the int array), it takes lot of time to do all the process (i.e opening excel , formatting range, setting values)But when i use Range.ColumnWidth = 15 then all the process is done in a flash. Why using an integer array takes time? I did even try replacing int array with string array, but same time taking result?
I am retrieving data from a table and displaying it in a datagrid, how can I make the columnwidth variable depending on the size of the text field being returned and do it in the code ?
I have been coding in Visual Basic with Excel for a while and am now getting into using databases within the code. I have been looking everywhere trying to find how one can code for the datagrid width. I have figured out the individual columns but I want to code for the entire grid width. I am trying to code the datagrid to be the exact total of all of the columns eliminating the horizontal scrollbar and then next I will eliminate the vertical scrollbar for any account that has less than five records.
How can I make it so that when I re-size my program all my buttons and text boxes move with it. I don't know how to explain it, but it's like if I have a button in the center of my form and I re-size my form I want my button to stay centered not just have the form stretch out.
I'd like to call my function "Selection_PickInfo" using the Link buttons created, but I'm having the issue of not being able to actually pull information from these links.
I am wondering if anyone has any idea how to make the controls stack and fill up the available space left by a control if the control is hidden or removed from the UltraGridBagLayoutPanel.
If I hide [Textbox 3] as of now, it will disperse the space left equally and pad the remaining text boxes with the space. However, I would like it to do this...
[Textbox 1] [Textbox 2] [Textbox 4] [Textbox 5]
Where all the text boxes will move up and [Textbox 4] will completely consume the space left by [Textbox 3].
I tried it and get an error but maybe I'm tring the wrong way. Can a usercontrol inherate an application defined class ie.. could you inheritance a classic rect class into a user control to add the hight and width properties to the control without having to do all the coding all over again? Currently I just declair a private instance of the class within the control and then encapsalate. It would be nice if I could just inherit all the functionality of my classes into controls designed to implament the classes.
I discovered a problem in C# (boo hiss!!!) but it applies to VB.NET as well.I decided to build a little app to load info from some audio files using Taglib-sharp (nice little thing it is!) and create a Winamp playlist from the loaded files. (I know it's lame, don't laugh! I just wanted to learn some C#!)I have a form with 2 DataGridViews. I load the first dgv with some tag info from the selected files. I then move those files from 1 grid to the other, shuffling their positions along the way.The annoyance I found is during form design. If I try and name a column in the second DGV the same as in the first (eg. "Filename") I get an error that says the name is already in use by another component. To me this is not right. The column is part of a separate object, shouldn't this mean that "Filename" in object1 isn't the same as "Filename" in object2? I even have to refer to the specific object to get the column's value in a row. [code] to access the column's value in the first row of dgvMine or dgvOther, then why does the darn designer care if "Filename" exists in dgvMine and also in dgvOther? Shouldn't they be separate declarations "within" each of dgvMine and dgvOther?
