how do you select the column in VB2008 as i can't see any similar command ?
How set a width for an individual column in DataGridView? I make my datagridview fill. But the problem is The column index 1 is not fit on the datagridview. How can I set an assigned width so that I can managed the spaces.

I want to split up the arraylist so I can use the name and the email address in an email routine i.e. Dear John Doe, yada yada
I need a few columns in my datagridview to have the font be aligned to the right, but no matter what code I use it doesnt work.
I would also like my columns with numbers to always have 2 decimals.
And lastly I would like the right side of the column header to be blank and not movable. I can do this by adding another column to my table with a blank name and then set the width to fill, but the problem is I can just move this around, which is not good, I want to freeze it so it looks good. I do want to be able to move around on the other columns, just not this one. Unless there is another way to do that?
I am currently using a recursive search to get all of the files in a directory as well as in all subdirectories of that directory. At the moment (as a temporary solution to make sure the script worked) I have all files with their respective directories listed in a listview (2 separate columns).
View 3 Repliesi have datagridview populated with stock code, name and description.And i have docked my datagridview to the bottom. so whenever the form is resized, the bottom section will be occupied completely with the datagridview.But i want to display one extra empty column and multiple empty rows to completely fill in the datagridview.The extra empty column width will be adjusted to the right end side of datagridview.And the no of empty rows will be generated based on how many is required to fill up to the bottomSo that i can create datagridview with full column and row even though some columns or rows are empty.

I have a datagridview and few testbox. User types in the details into the text box and when pressed enter it adds to the datagridview. Now the question is user will be allowed to save the rows into a text file but it in not saving in a proper format ie i am getting as:

I am using DataGrid control in VB. I have created a DataTable at runtime and added 5 columns in this Datatable. I binded the data table with DataGrid control.
Width of DataGrid is 880. The default width of 5 columns of data table in DataGrid is 100. So for 5 columns width used = 500. So an empty space of 380 left at the right hand cornor of DataGrid. I want to fill this empty space with these 5 columns. I want to increase the width of columns so that it fully covered in DataGrid.
I set the width for my ListView columns in the designer, in run time they always shrink back. I have no idea why, could anyone shed some light on this for me - possibly a solution to keeping them exactly the way I set them in designer ?

View 8 RepliesI have an integer array which contains the different col widths for an range of excel worksheet.when i use Range.ColumnWidth= ColWidths (Colwidths is the int array), it takes lot of time to do all the process (i.e opening excel , formatting range, setting values)But when i use Range.ColumnWidth = 15 then all the process is done in a flash.Why using an integer array takes time? I did even try replacing int array with string array, but same time taking result?

I have students who will be enrolled into a course. The student grid view has many columns like client_no, student_name, date_of_birth, address, etc. There are over 100000 students so I will need to filter the student grid view to find the correct student to enroll in the course. Once they are found, the user selects them and somehow moves them to the enrolled grid view. If a student drops out then they would be removed from the enrolled grid view.This process needs to be easy to understand and use. Are there any examples available or other suggestions on how to do this?
View 1 Repliesis there any way to stretch a datagrid's control columns so they would take all the space width of the form?I can set datagrid's dock property to bottom so it will take all the bottom by height but the right side of the data grid will stay empty which is not good.If I set datagrid's dock property to right it jumps all over the form...So I need a way to fill up my datagrid's bottom and right (width) side so I would not have empty space.

like if there are 4 fields in grid : emp_id , name , age , salary
and id column is of type combobox then on selecting the particular emp_id from the list , its coressponding name get displayed in the same row and then user can enter the other fields.similarlly when the emp_id get selected in the 2nd row of grid then 2nd row column "name" get filled.
This is a VB .NET application where we are showing the output of a SQL statement in a Datagrid view. using .NET 2005.We need to get the seperators of the headers on the grid control to be the same colors as the GridColor on the form. See the picture below:We've tried looking through all of the properties of the DataGridView control, and found some interesting things that looked promising such as the DataGridViewAdvancedHeaderStyle, and DataGridViewHeaderBorderStyle, but none of it seems to allow you to change the colors on it.Does anyone know how to do this without remaking the entire thing with a GDI+ control?

setting the width of the gridview when i used the property AutoGenerateColumns to AutoGenerateColumns="true". And the gridview is databind in code behind. If i am using gridview1.columns(0).width it raise error.
And the GridView1.Columns.Count is always zero because the grid view is databind.
