Insert data Into A grid With 3 Columns?

I am trying to insert data into a grid with 3 columns, in VB6 you could select a grid's column number, something like this :
grid1.column=3
grid1.row=2
grid1.text ="hello"
how do you select the column in VB2008 as i can't see any similar command ?

I have a TCPListener demo setup and working. The demo program has been supplied by Bill Chung, here:[URL]..the Listener uses a DataGrid to output whatever data is received but currently it doesnt store it.

i have datagridview populated with stock code, name and description.And i have docked my datagridview to the bottom. so whenever the form is resized, the bottom section will be occupied completely with the datagridview.But i want to display one extra empty column and multiple empty rows to completely fill in the datagridview.The extra empty column width will be adjusted to the right end side of datagridview.And the no of empty rows will be generated based on how many is required to fill up to the bottomSo that i can create datagridview with full column and row even though some columns or rows are empty.

I have students who will be enrolled into a course. The student grid view has many columns like client_no, student_name, date_of_birth, address, etc. There are over 100000 students so I will need to filter the student grid view to find the correct student to enroll in the course. Once they are found, the user selects them and somehow moves them to the enrolled grid view. If a student drops out then they would be removed from the enrolled grid view.This process needs to be easy to understand and use. Are there any examples available or other suggestions on how to do this?

Now what i want is that when user select some option from the combobox then some of the cells only in the same row get filled automatically according to the selected option.
like if there are 4 fields in grid : emp_id , name , age , salary
and id column is of type combobox then on selecting the particular emp_id from the list , its coressponding name get displayed in the same row and then user can enter the other fields.similarlly when the emp_id get selected in the 2nd row of grid then 2nd row column "name" get filled.

This is a VB .NET application where we are showing the output of a SQL statement in a Datagrid view. using .NET 2005.We need to get the seperators of the headers on the grid control to be the same colors as the GridColor on the form. See the picture below:We've tried looking through all of the properties of the DataGridView control, and found some interesting things that looked promising such as the DataGridViewAdvancedHeaderStyle, and DataGridViewHeaderBorderStyle, but none of it seems to allow you to change the colors on it.Does anyone know how to do this without remaking the entire thing with a GDI+ control?

I have the below code that i am trying to have two datagrids with a grid splityter in the middle. The split seems to be working fine but the issue i am having is when I populate the datagrid it is growing in height and changing the splitter instead of leaving the height alone and adding scroll bars.
What simple thing am I overlooking?

In my datagrid view I set the header columns to speccific colors after the grid is filled:

This has worked fine, until I set the "Enable XP visual styles" on the project properties page. With this set, the colors dissapear from the header (although they still show up correctly in the grid). If I turn the flag off, the header colors are back to normal.

In the excel i have numers and text and "Service Pack", "Processor Speed" and "Numar procesoare(Number of processors)" and the values for these are numers. in the data grid when i import the excel those values doesn't appear, i receive the value "null".

I have an application that converts one database to another and one of the functions I use is insert_Note below. This application has multipule threads all inserting diffrent data into the new database. The code below works for a number of inserts ranging between 24 and 120 but then fails with the error:There are fewer columns in the INSERT statement than values specified in the VALUES clause. The number of values in the VALUES clause must match the number of columns specified in the INSERT statement.I you look at the code you will see that this cannot be the problem as the code works for some inserts but not all. What else can cause this error in a multithread applicationuld be welcome as I have spent three days on this and got no where!

There are plenty of SELECT (...) VALUES (...) statements and Parameters phrases to go with the VALUES. Those appear unhelpful to me as I have no form fields or datagrids and will be working with all the rows in a DataTable in a DataSet. Once started, this application will run to completion, writing as few as 10000 rows or as many as 250000 rows
My Task is to write out the contents of each specified DataColumn in the DataTable, one DataColumn at a time. The insert will also include the key columns and use the datetimestamp of the records as a criterion. Nulls in the specified columns are included.
My source is a DataTable, my target for the Insert is a "tall-skinny" table in an Access database. There is a smaller DataTable that is related to the source DataTable, if I was writing from within the AccDB I would use Joins. I have created a DataRelation, but have no idea how to use it in this context..
I have tried many different SQL statements but they all fail on Select. Here are snippets of the code:

I have a datagridview with 5 columns on it. It has two "views" according to whether the user is logged in or not. If they aren't logged in all 5 columns are readonly. If they are logged in 2 of those columns become usable but the other 3 are still readonly.
My issue is "how do I allow someone to add a row to the grid without turning off my readonly columns"?
I know that I could change the readonly status for the columns and then change it back after I add the row...but I was hoping for something easier. Or at least only to unlock the "new" row area, but leave the rest alone.
Is it possible to set readonly on dgv cells as well? Or just on the columns and grid object?
