I have a datagridview that is bound to a datatable. When the form is displayed, the column headers have no sort glyphs and the columns will not sort.
I don't see a property on the form that controls column sorting - at least not one that's obvious. This is an area of the code that another developer wrote originally, so maybe there's something going on that I'm not aware of.

I have an unbound datagridview with a whole bunch of columns.I need to sort based on 4 columns, the first three are simple strings, the fouth is a date string (which in itself presents a problem, since it wants to sort lexically but I need them in date order).

The data coms back fine and is presenting in the DGV without any trouble, but I don't like the order the data is being returned in.A long solution might be to modify the SProc to return the data in a different order, but I prefer to handle this on the UI for simplicity. Also, I know the user can re-order but that presents a specific poblem in the way the columns are structured.Is there a way to programmatically change the order at runtime?Here's the ode I have on the UI. I have an application that converts one database to another and one of the functions I use is insert_Note below. This application has multipule threads all inserting diffrent data into the new database. The code below works for a number of inserts ranging between 24 and 120 but then fails with the error:There are fewer columns in the INSERT statement than values specified in the VALUES clause. View 2 RepliesI am workinng on an aopplication using the DataGridView.My intent is that the DataGridView is displayed with four columns, the user clicks on a row in any column and the complete record for the selected item is displayed and the DataGridViewis no longer in view.
The code to do this is in the event "dgvCollections_CellContentClick" and the function works exactly as I want it to.The problem is that when I want to sort by a specific column I click on the column header and not only does it sort , it calls the 'CellContentClick' event and the details form is displayed, which I do not want to happen.Is there a way around this problem other then using the "dgvCollections_CellContentDoubleClick" event to select the detail? This was what I did as I sterted this project and I found that the double click was very sensitive and often did not work. The single click is much better for the eventual user.
