Now what i want is that when user select some option from the combobox then some of the cells only in the same row get filled automatically according to the selected option.
like if there are 4 fields in grid : emp_id , name , age , salary
and id column is of type combobox then on selecting the particular emp_id from the list , its coressponding name get displayed in the same row and then user can enter the other fields.similarlly when the emp_id get selected in the 2nd row of grid then 2nd row column "name" get filled.
I am creating a form for work where managers can report when they find a customer's personal information laying around on a desk (we work at a call center where agents answer calls for a wireless cell phone provider, so we take personal information security very seriously). Anyway, I am wondering if there is a way to have a text box autofill with that manager's windows username (since they will need to be logged into their own profile to use the form).
i have datagridview populated with stock code, name and description.And i have docked my datagridview to the bottom. so whenever the form is resized, the bottom section will be occupied completely with the datagridview.But i want to display one extra empty column and multiple empty rows to completely fill in the datagridview.The extra empty column width will be adjusted to the right end side of datagridview.And the no of empty rows will be generated based on how many is required to fill up to the bottomSo that i can create datagridview with full column and row even though some columns or rows are empty.
I have a SQL db that holds the records for my page. On my page I have a details view I want to populate with records from my db. I can populate the records just fine, I need to be able to populate in records based on a user selection from a drop box?To clarify, on my main page I have a drop down list with years (ie. 2011, 2010, 2009), and a drop down containing account codes (ie. six-digit numbers). Based on what the user chooses for the year (for example 2010) and the what they choose for the account code (for example 123456) I want to populate the details view (which is on a seperate page) with only those records from 2010 and with the account code 123456??
What i am trying to achieve is that there are 7 columns in my db table. one is primary key and rest 6 are integer columns. Now my application will allow user to input 6 values. I want to compare 6 values entered by user to those 6 integer columns and if in any row 3 or more columns match user's input Primary key of that table is returned..I have tried using queries, cursor, nested loops and i am still unable to achieve my results..

The problem is related to triggering event handlers when the user makes an input into a combo box, you might even call this a complaint.I have a combobox with a DataSource and ValueMember and DisplayMember. There is no DataBindings to worry about at this point. The combobox is DropDownStyle = DropDown and I havealso enabled AutoCompleteSource = ListSource and AutoCompleteMode = SuggestAppend.The datasource contains a list of Countires, and when the user types in an entry or chooses an entry from the combobox, I should be able to detect what the user has selected ortyped immediatley after the selection, some would say it's the very purpose of the combo box.Which event would you choose to deterine what the user has entered or Selected? few events come to mind:
I have students who will be enrolled into a course. The student grid view has many columns like client_no, student_name, date_of_birth, address, etc. There are over 100000 students so I will need to filter the student grid view to find the correct student to enroll in the course. Once they are found, the user selects them and somehow moves them to the enrolled grid view. If a student drops out then they would be removed from the enrolled grid view.This process needs to be easy to understand and use. Are there any examples available or other suggestions on how to do this?

It deals with making my data grid pretty by making one row white the other blue. I am simply drawing a blank on how to make that extend the whole height/width of the data grid, keeping the styles so it doesn't look empty. Also, if it is possible, not allow the extra rows to be selected.

I cannot figure out how to incorporate the number of days into the input box then get it to loop and count the number of times the User inputs in the number of days. Then I have to incorporate it into the equation to get the total distance D = MPH * Hours. What I have right now wil not count up the number of days and locks up after I input one number and will not add anything to the listbox. Because I also have to make sure that they cant add nonnumaric values and the number of hours per day cannot exceed 20. I have put things in and taken them out but it has been 2 days and I am lost now
This has worked fine, until I set the "Enable XP visual styles" on the project properties page. With this set, the colors dissapear from the header (although they still show up correctly in the grid). If I turn the flag off, the header colors are back to normal.
I am using a datagridview as an input screen for repetitive inputs of a similar nature. Once I have saved the data, is it possible to clear the input in the grid for the next round of inputs. At present, all I seem to be able to do is clear all the rows and then create a new set of rows.

I'm trying to save what the user types in the vb code Dim user as Inputbox("") for example in a .txt file i can save the textbox and listbox but i cnt figure out how to save the inputbox i really need this to be saved the most.
I need something tje user can type in data to such a parts QTY cost etc. There are no predefined parts list so the user can enter any part name/Number and there is no limit to amount of parts that can be entered.
Does anyone have any idea what might be useful. It was thinks of a listview bu i can't see that you can type into that. I cant use comboboxs because there are no predefined list and i know there is some way to generate text at runtime (i think) but i don't know how to do it and i would prefer a clearer approach.

Instead of computing the result for each value of variables in combo boxes 1 & 2 separately. I want to compute the result for all the values of variables in both the combo boxes. This whole collection of computations is to be displayed in the Data Grid View, while on top of each column I want combo boxes with the same values as combo box 1 & 2, to optimize the selection from Data Grid View.
