I am using a datagridview as an input screen for repetitive inputs of a similar nature. Once I have saved the data, is it possible to clear the input in the grid for the next round of inputs. At present, all I seem to be able to do is clear all the rows and then create a new set of rows.

View 1 RepliesI have DataGridView control which i populate with some rows from the database the database table which i work with changes a lot so every 30 seconds I re-query the database to check if there is new record or existing record changed or record deleted, I can't clear and re-populate the grid view because people might work with it and they're might doing some changes in some rows.
so if the row was changed i just want to update the changes in the existing row without recreating it, if some row deleted i want to remove it and if a row was added i want to add the new row.
My below codes in a button click event populate data in the grid upon the user click the button.
1. How do I know that my commandtext did not find any matching data to popup the message to the user - No Records found.
2. How do I clear the data in the grid before executing the below codes.

I was using this old method of creating a bunch of rectangles when I need to get the location of a certain point within a grid so I could draw images on the grid. The thing is, I don't want to use rectangles, I want to be able to just round the location as if I were using rectangles. I need it to be able to round the point (66,70) to (50,50) so if you can imagine a grid and the mouse position being within that square in the grid, I need to get the location of the upper left corner of that square.

I have a reset button created in my VB form, but don't know how to code it so that it will accomplish what I want. I want it to clear the form's text boxes so that new input can be entered. I could just code an end statement but this closes the form, and I want to keep it open to continue working with it.
View 6 RepliesI have built up an interface in VB2008 with many textboxs and labels on. When I click "New", I would like to clear all the textboxs and labels, i.e. each with a NULL value. Meanwhile, I also would like to clear all the arrays behind the program, i.e. the arrays which are not shown on the interface but is important for the calculation.The only way I could find out now is to clear the textboxs, labels and arrays one by one. So if there are 100 textboxs, 100 arrays, I have to write 200 lines in total. Obviously, it is not expected. Is there any other quick ways to directly reset everything to the beginning when the interface is just opened?

like if there are 4 fields in grid : emp_id , name , age , salary
and id column is of type combobox then on selecting the particular emp_id from the list , its coressponding name get displayed in the same row and then user can enter the other fields.similarlly when the emp_id get selected in the 2nd row of grid then 2nd row column "name" get filled.

This works fine. But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well.

Thus the subtotal field in the 1st row would equal the sum of the shown quantity field for the entire grid.The next row would include its value and all those beneath it. Its subtotal value would be less than the subtotal of the row above it (by the quantity value of the 1st row). My code for the grid is very simple I just can't figure out how to add this iteration.

View 5 RepliesAs I understood , The property grid is given an object which it can manipulate by extracting its Properties using reflections.
My problem is that I have a set of Parameters that is determined during run-time , thus I can't staticly compose a class with properties to represent this set.
I have two idea in mind to solve this problem but both are complex and will probably consume lot of time , infact i will say they are not practical under my time constraints. One is to use Reflection Emit in order to define a class dynamically and the other is to dynamiclly build a C# source file and then compile it using CodeDom.
Can Property grid behave in a different manner( other then extracting the Properties of an object using reflections ) that can suite my problem?
I want to say that the reason I went to the property grid from the begining was its ability to provide realy nice Data Retrieval UI for common types.For color you autometically get a palette , For dataTime you automatically have a nice calender. I would like to get those things automatically If possible.

What I would like to do is scroll the grid, so that the row that the program is 'looking at' is in the middle of the grid.
