Change Properties Of Individual Columns In A Datagridview?
Sep 1, 2011
I need a few columns in my datagridview to have the font be aligned to the right, but no matter what code I use it doesnt work.
I would also like my columns with numbers to always have 2 decimals.
And lastly I would like the right side of the column header to be blank and not movable. I can do this by adding another column to my table with a blank name and then set the width to fill, but the problem is I can just move this around, which is not good, I want to freeze it so it looks good. I do want to be able to move around on the other columns, just not this one. Unless there is another way to do that?

Is it possible to give individual cells in a data grid view row different styles such as backcolor, fontcolor etc?
I do not mean giving the whole row a new style, only a specific cell.

I've been trying make a mdi notepad that can start up new instances of a "note" which is unique from the other notes as in you can save/change/cut/ copy/ paste in the individual notes without changing the properties of the other notes..something like a tabbed notepad but instead of tab control i have a mdi container. but i can't make it work. [code] problem with it is that whatever you cut/copy/paste in one mdi container richtextbox, it automatically cuts/copies/pastes in the other richtextbox controls in the other containers..

How to programmatically change foreground color and make bold text in individual cell location on DataGridView control (Visual Basic)?
I use "dgMatrix.Rows(r).Cells(c).Value = x" to assign individual numeric values to individual cells in a DataGridView control. My question; is there a similar way to change foreground color and make bold the text in this cell, by specifying the individual row/column cell location?
For example; for cell (row 3, col 5) in the DataGridView make text in cell say red and bold or blue and bold so as to highlight and distinguish individual cell contents. As needed, I will also need to reset these properties (foreground back to automatic/black and font from bold back to regular); the reset could be done globally to the whole DataGridView as opposed to indiviaually by cell.

I binded a datagridview with datasource, But its order was changed then I used Columns("ColumnName").DisplayIndex property to arrange the columns of DatagridView. Now I am exporting this DataGridView to Excel, All things are right but problem is about the column positioning, Columns in excel file are shown in wrong order (it shows order before I applied Columns("ColumnName").DisplayIndex property to arrange the columns of DatagridView). My question is that how I permanently change the Column index of DataGridView......?

Dim oSheet As Excel.Worksheet
Dim oMissing As Object = System.Reflection.Missing.Value

I have a DataGridView that has been dragged over from the DataSource Tab. All works good.I need to have the background color of some of the cells changed based on other columns in that same row. Such as, have the background color of a cell Red if the Status column (not shown) relates to 90 days overdue. The next row may be different.

I am learning vb.net and I am having trouble wrapping my head around the following... I can create several properties of a custom class and get/set values or I can create a method to set them all at once. If each property is going to allow read and write should I just make a method to assign values all at once? I assume that I am missing a very important piece here. Example: I can create 2 properties:

imagine an array of data containing a gray scale image and you want the bar chart (say 20x20) to display a section of that image as both the magnitude of the data and its shade of gray. if you were to look vertically down on the 3D barGraph you should see the section of the image. Is this at all possible? The projetc relates to clutter intensity in a radar image if this interests you.

I have a combo box which will store a list of RGB values generated when the user makes a custom color in the color dialog. The values are stored in the combo box in RRR, GGG, BBB format. I have this working. The code for this is as follows:
dlgChooser.ShowDialog()
Dim colorR As String = dlgChooser.Color.R.ToString()
Dim colorG As String = dlgChooser.Color.G.ToString()
Dim colorB As String = dlgChooser.Color.B.ToString()
lblTitle.ForeColor = dlgChooser.Color()
cmbRecent.Items.Insert(0, colorR & ", " & colorG & ", " & colorB)
cmbRecent.SelectedIndex = 0
The next part is to change each recent color's background color to match whatever color the values represent (so that it's easier to pick from the colors). How do I assign a background color to each item listed in the combo box?

I am developing an application in vb.net 2008 express edition that displays utility meter information. In one column of datagridview it shows the meter type in numeric code. When the user hovers over the the individual cells in meter type column i want to be able to show more descriptive info on what that numeric code actually means.
As an example the cell in datagridview will show 1254 the actual description for this numeric code is "Landis Gyr Focus AX SD 2S 7.2Kh"
Below is my code so far, every other aspect of application is working except for above.
Public Class Form3

I have a combobox called cbMaterialType on a windows form that's bound to a table in SQL - everything loads great and the combobox displays 'Material' items as it should, in that table I have two fields - Material (as mentioned above) which is a char(25) and InStock which is an nchar(1). If the InStock field contains a '1', I'd like the individual material to be green in the combobox, if '0', then red. I have the simple code in the drawitem event of the combobox as follows, but can't seem to get any results at all:
Private Sub cbMaterialType_DrawItem(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Handles cbMaterialType.DrawItem
If MaterialTableAdapter1.GetData.Item(cbMaterialType.SelectedIndex).InStock = 1 Then
cbMaterialType.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Green
Else
cbMaterialType.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red
End If
End Sub
I've never worked with any form of color in comboboxes before and this is my first attempt at the drawitem event.

datagridOnlineStores.Columns("osowner").DefaultCellStyle.Alignment = DataGridViewContentAlignment.MiddleRight
I tried defaultcellstyle but it doesn't do anything then is there any way I could change the color of the border of the whole datagrid because it's black I don't like it.
