I use "dgMatrix.Rows(r).Cells(c).Value = x" to assign individual numeric values to individual cells in a DataGridView control. My question; is there a similar way to change foreground color and make bold the text in this cell, by specifying the individual row/column cell location?
For example; for cell (row 3, col 5) in the DataGridView make text in cell say red and bold or blue and bold so as to highlight and distinguish individual cell contents. As needed, I will also need to reset these properties (foreground back to automatic/black and font from bold back to regular); the reset could be done globally to the whole DataGridView as opposed to indiviaually by cell.
I am creating a Rich text file editor, and I want to change the font of the selected text with the font dialog. Here is my code (editor is the rich text box)

I had an old program that I upgraded from VB6 to VB 2008. I am creating a program similar to it in VB 2008. There is a piece of code that I tried to enter into the program I am creating now from my old program. It tells the computer that if the label's text is a certain text that is on the clipboard, then the text size will be smaller.

When I insert this code into my new program, it doesn't recognize the "VB6" in the code.
How can I get the same result in the program I am currently creating?

I basically use a loop to add columns to my datagridview and then set the properties of the columns. i want to create a html editor. to get started, i want the app to be able to find certain words, and change the font/color/size/etc. as for <a href=""><b> and so on, without changing the rest of the text after the selected text was modified. i'm sure that it has something to do with RichTextBox1_TextChanged for text that is being typed and just a button click for modifying selected text.

View 9 RepliesI use a fontdialog box in my application allowing users to change the font details within my application. This works fine but unfortunatly I don't seem to be able to set the values in the dialogbox as they are read only.
Basically if the user has Bold Wingdings set and wishes to change it to something else then when they open up the fontdialog box I would like to be able to set the font to wingdings and bold so the user can see what they previously selected. Word seems to do this so why cant I?

View 1 RepliesI need a few columns in my datagridview to have the font be aligned to the right, but no matter what code I use it doesnt work.
I would also like my columns with numbers to always have 2 decimals.
And lastly I would like the right side of the column header to be blank and not movable. I can do this by adding another column to my table with a blank name and then set the width to fill, but the problem is I can just move this around, which is not good, I want to freeze it so it looks good. I do want to be able to move around on the other columns, just not this one. Unless there is another way to do that?

imagine an array of data containing a gray scale image and you want the bar chart (say 20x20) to display a section of that image as both the magnitude of the data and its shade of gray. if you were to look vertically down on the 3D barGraph you should see the section of the image. Is this at all possible? The projetc relates to clutter intensity in a radar image if this interests you.
View 2 RepliesI have a combo box which will store a list of RGB values generated when the user makes a custom color in the color dialog. The values are stored in the combo box in RRR, GGG, BBB format. I have this working. The code for this is as follows:

View 2 RepliesI have a combobox called cbMaterialType on a windows form that's bound to a table in SQL - everything loads great and the combobox displays 'Material' items as it should, in that table I have two fields - Material (as mentioned above) which is a char(25) and InStock which is an nchar(1). If the InStock field contains a '1', I'd like the individual material to be green in the combobox, if '0', then red. I have the simple code in the drawitem event of the combobox as follows, but can't seem to get any results at all:

View 16 RepliesI've been writing a weight program for flooded pressure vessels and I'm having trouble retrieving the data from the text files I've been saving. I know how to write the data to the text file, but retrieving it with OpenFileDialog is not so easy for me.The user has individual text boxes that they input strings or numbers into and when they save the file, each text box input is written to one line in the text file. For example, the first text box is for the username, therefore the first line of text that is saved is the person's name, the second text box is the customer, thus the second line in the text file is the customer name, and so on.
(Actually, the first line of text in the saved file designates whether English units were used or Metric units because when the user retrieves the saved file, English units will open one form and Metric units will open a separate form, so some If...Then statement will need to occur).I need to be able to read the first line, have either my "EnglishForm"form open or my "MetricForm" form open, and then have each subsequent line of text be displayed in their corresponding text boxes. I know I need to use ReadLine or LineInput, but I don't have a clue what to do.Assuming the syntax I've displayed below would just magically work (if only life were that easy), it would look something like this
