View 3 RepliesI've automated some things on my computer with some mousecommands. This works perfectly. However though when I'm away for a couple of hours and I've got my program running (which is needed) the screensaver won't kick in due to the mouse movements. Is there any way to bypass this? So that a black screen is showed but the program still does its work.

View 5 Replieswhen i attempt to debug a program in visual basic studio 08 the black screen dissapears immediatly and i cannot read anything that appears. not sure if it is an option or a bug, but it makes the system relatively useless.
View 4 RepliesI have a htpc project that I am working on. The main program loads dll plugins which are basically other win forms. On each of these forms, including the main program, I use a picturebox (a double buffered picturebox) for the background image and then draw everything on it by hand. Whenever I load the form from the dll and show it, I get a weird flicker. It looks like it is the previously used double buffer. Is there any way to clear the background double buffer before the flicker? Or am I going in the wrong direction?

Notice the black screen with the white lines on it or the flash of the desktop after I click "Movies." How do I get rid of that?
Can I make a certian function that will fade out [make a black screen that fades out for 2 seconds], then come back? Is that possible? ON A FORM.
View 3 RepliesWhen the dialog pops up, the screen dims down almost as if they overlapped the screen with a transparent black layer of some sort. This is easily accomplish able by creating a black form and having its opacity set to half and starting it maximized-which I'm already doing. The problem with this though is I need to do this within a form, so using a panel or anything is out of the questions since transparency really grabs the background image and not the actual controls underneath. Plus I feel if adding a form to another forms controls depletes it's ability to use it's opacity property.The form I need this in is my cash register. It is full screen but if my menu auto hides it still resizes. It has two parts, the order(panel to the left) and the payments(panel to the right). As you could imagine I want the payments portion blacked out until the order is capable of accepting payments(the payment due is greater than 0). Or I'm thinking it fallows the mouse, you mouse over the payments and the orders panel blacks out, and vice verse.
Plus I have tried googling this but no one seems to have the answer on other forums.. Everyone gets confused and the thread ends short with no solution. Apparently though experts-exchange has the answer, but wants me to pay... so no. Wish their site would stop showing up in my google results.But did have an idea of what I could do. My best guess was I could take a snap shot of just the panel I want to black out. Set it as the background image for that panel THEN use my overlay panel(back color sent to black) overlapping the appropriate section with it's transparency set to half.. But still I'm not sure how to take a snap shot of just a particular.control..
My application allows users to specify a logo. When they choose the logo I need to scale the image to accommodate my application's use. Everything works great except for transparent GIFs, the transparency is not preserved and it is converted to BLACK. Here is my

I've been testing an application I'm working on in Windows 7, Vista and XP. If I'm using XP then I get a couple of solid black blocks after the items listed in the ListBox. They are absent when running the same application in Vista or 7. I have the enable application framework checkbox unchecked. I haven't tried changing that to see if it makes a difference.

I start either, a VB.Net or VBA procedure and within 30 seconds the Excel worksheet (previously displayed) blanks out. In both VB.Net and VBA,ScreenUpdating = False. View 1 RepliesI need that my application have a splash screen, this splash must update a label with messages that i sent from the main form constructor, in the end of the constructor i need to close the splash, the splash must accept key presses, so if the user press some keys I'll show the login screen, by default the login it's the same of the machine, and this is useful for debugging/tests purposes.Basically i need to send text to another thread, and get a boolean value from the same thread to know if the user pressed the correct combination of keys to show the login form.

View 2 RepliesI'm writing a piece of software at the moment which will require a form be full screen at all times. However, I am slightly plagued by the fact that my users will have varying screen resolutions. This makes placing controls etc very difficult. Any good techniques / tips to ensure that control layout looks consistent despite the screen resolution when an application is full screen. I'd like to try to avoid having to programmatically re-size and move controls based on screen res as this is a pain in the royal backside.

I'm trying to display a small popup form next to a DGV cell that is clicked. I can set pixels by using the following code, where intX and intY ade dimensioned as integer and &HFF00 is the Hexadecimal for red.
SetPixel(hDC, intX, intY, &HFF00)
After I finish plotting all the points I want to clear the screen back to all black or white or any predifined color. I was able to do this in earlier versions of Visual basic by using "CLS" but this is not available in the current version. how to clear the screen? Should I use one of the earlier versions (.NET Framework2.0, .NET Framework 3.0, etc, etc)?

View 3 RepliesI need a series of sentences appear on my screen one after the other. I want to have the possibility of:
1) adding new sentences (as many as I want);
2) make them appear randomly;
3) control the time until the next sentence appears (or may be go to the next one by press of a button) (for EACH sentence(for short sentences shorter for long longer));
4) terminate the operation any time.
I imagine it like this: I start the program/application/file -> first sentence appears e.g. "I like ice cream" (randomly out of those that are in the body of the program or in the outside text file) -> it stays on the screen for 2 seconds (controllable) -> next sentence appears e.g. "Lisbon is the capital of Portugal" -> 2 seconds (controllable) -> "Apple is a fruit" and so on in a loop randomly choosing the sentences until I terminate the run of the program.
So my question is: What is the script? And what exactly do I have to do to realize that? My VB level is: installed it yesterday, learnt how to create a button and make "WELCOME TO VISUAL BASIC 2010" message appear on my screen, search all over the internet trying to solve my problem but found only how to generate random numbers.
