I have an application that opens up Excel, reads some information, then closes Excel. I developed this application using Microsoft Office XP 2007. A few weeks ago, my company upgraded to Microsoft Office 2010. The applications still works fine, but I can not compile in VS 2008 anymore. I get the error message: "Error 3 'Application' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'." I have updated my COM reference to Microsoft Office 14.0 Object Library, but the same message appears. View 3 RepliesI have a project which contains a large number of lookup tables, and I have all of these lookup tables represented in a single typed DataSet, which contains TableAdapters for each lookup. I've designed an editor for these lookup tables, which should allow editing of one of these at a time. My front-end is written in VB and WinForms, the back-end is a SOAP web service; I can successfully pass the changes to the DataSet back to the web service, but can't find a way to use a TableAdapter to update the single table that has been changed.
What I'm trying to do is instantiate the appropriate TableAdapter for the updated DataTable by sending the name of the table back to the web service along with the DataSet, then referring to the TableAdapter with a dynamic name. The normal way to instantiate a TableAdapter is this:

What I'd like to do is this, but of course it doesn't work:

adapter.fill will just add duplicates, but adapter.clear before that is not an option.

I have a form with comboboxes, if the user doesnt select a value in the box I want a null to be sent to the database. The insert works fine, i look at the record in the db and see the null. The update doesnt work. gives me a n "Update statement conflicted with foreign key constaint....."

As I step through the selected value of the cbox 5 is shown as nothing (which it should be because the user didnt select a value for this combobox). I assume this needs to be a null instead of nothing to get written to the database. the combox boxes need to match a primary key in another table so sending a 0 would also result in the forieign key error since the related table does not have a 0 ID field.

I'm running Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SP1 and SQL Server 2008 R2 and I'm using vb.net coding. Any other information that you need to know, just ask.I've got a form in a master/ details setup that has one table in details view in the top half of a split container, and another table in a dgv in the bottom half of the container. Everything is working well except for one value. My dueDate value always reverts back to the date set when the record was made, which is the default value put in when a new record is made. It doesn't give me any errors to work off of, and I've even went and coded the update by hand with this code:

All that happens when I hit save is my due date will revert back to the old due date. I have no clue what would/could cause this. I've went through to see if anything that would store the original dueDate (from a check I set up in my coding) is coded somewhere it shouldn't be, but all it does is make the check that something had changed while on the form. it takes an array of all my text boxes and checks it with an array made before leaving the form. Nowhere else is the original dueDate saved.

I need to select some user datagridview settings (such as column width, column visible, etc.) from my database. Then I run a loop to change those settings. I have my application set up with ClickOnce. It has been successfully published to my web site. I don't have updates performed automatically but on demand. I have a button that the user can click if they want to check if an update is available and install the update if it is. Here's the

After clicking the button a message box appears and says, "Update is available for download" as you would expect but after clicking the ok on the message box my application goes into a not responding state and I have to close it with the task manager. The application builds successfully and I have a reference for System.Deployment added to the project. Everything in my application works fine as long as I don't try to do an update. Any suggestions on what I should check or do? It should actually say "no updates are available for download" since the version of the program that is being used is the most current version.

I've double checked to make sure none of the dates are invalid or null, but when the bolded statement executes, the following sql runs through the trace:

Of course it's going to fail if LINQ is passing in where 0=1 every time. Shouldn't it be using some unique row identifier, (in my case, the salon id), to update the specific row?
