I have a form, which has the background color set to the transparency key color. On the form there is a picturebox with transparent backcolor and a picture that is semi transparent.Unfortunately the transparency doesn�t work. The form shows with a background, but not the background color I chose, but the gray control color. Nothing is transparent.The EXACT same thing works with another form.

View 1 RepliesIn my VB application I have a tabcontrol, with 3 pages, the first page is for some contact data, the second page wil show the website of your contact and the third page shows the location of you contact (I used the webcontrol). when I switch from page 1 to page 2 or wathever, the text in my textboxes disapears en my first page. It happens most of the times, sometimes it just works but most of the time it freaks out.

My program can detect when Aero is present, but it has trouble when the user is in Aero Basic because it doesn't use the transparency or glass look. I am wondering if there is a call to the dwmapi that can tell me if the computer is using Aero Basic.

View 15 RepliesI have one tool which we developed on visual studio 2010. there are basically two parts of my project, one is UI part which i wrote in VB and algorithm part which is in C++ on back end. When we compile C++ part it creates a .dll which is used by my front end VB program.
Now my problem is little weird since i am compiling and deploying this tool on windows xp machine but some of the users are using windows 7 64 bit machines and after running the program for about 5-10 minutes, it crashes on windows 7 with following error

i am completely clue less for this error since this program works fine on xp but doesn't work on windows 7.
I have an application that requires data be entered, and after entering, a button is clicked to process that data. Clicking the button works just as it should--the data is processed properly. In constructing a test module, I provide a set of data values, followed by:
btnWhatever.PerformClick()
Nothing happens. I have used this syntax for years, and it has always worked flawlessly. I have triple checked everything else and isolated the problem to the failure of the PerformClick(). The PerformClick() is in a test subroutine that does nothing but fill textboxes and labels with default data, then calls the PerformClick() on the button to begin processing. Again, the button works fine, the data is entered as it should be, but the PerformClick() does not fire the click event.
Label1.text += textbox1.text doesn't work, say they is 0 in label1 and i enter 1 in the textbox1 it adds it to the label like this

I've making a program that must crop 20 squares out of a larger image that is in a picturebox. Now I've created a Draggable rectangle control and set it's Background to transparent. This is working (kindof).
Now I have set my control to doublebuffered = true and it Removes tha annoying flicker.My problem is that doublebuffering creates a new problem. My control's parent is a picturebox with a large picture inside.When I move my control over the picture to select the area to be cropped it updates slowly I.E The control Is in a new area but it still displays the old area and then updates which is annoying.If you want to see for yourself create a new project with a picturebox with a Image inside with my Control as a child of the picturebox.

I have thought of possible solutions but they might well be much slower.#1 Copy the part of the picturebox that is under the control and paste it on my control.#2 Somehow eliminate the backcolor property thus eliminating the need to paint something over the control and only paint needed parts .
One of my programs uses transparency so that the form is the shape of the background image (.png). My problem is that everything works and looks fine on the computer I'm developing on (Win7) but when I run the program on my other computer (XP), instead of the transparency I get the background color (which is the same as the transparency color). Does anyone have any experience this problem?

So I have 2 data files, single dimension, that I'm trying to populate two rtb. If I comment one streamreader out the other will print. This also works in the vise versa situation. Does anybody see where I'm going wrong with this? They won't run together.

Has anyone succeeded in creating a class library solution/project in VB.net VS2010 4.0 Net Framework for COM to run on WindowsXP Excel 2003. I created a dll which changed specific data in an excel worksheet. The dll worked just fine on the development computer but wont work on any other. I downloaded .NET 4 framework onto the target PCs and used RegAsm.exe to register both the .dll and .tlb files in the registry. That worked OK and the dll is visible as a reference in excel and can be ticked. The error message I get is RunTime Error -2147024894(80070002): Automation Error The System cannot find the file specified.
I also tried creating a Setup and Deploy project in the original development solution but this created just a vbproj setup file which the target PC cannot read (no VS installed), I hoped the project would create an EXE file I could use. Does anyone know any links that describe how to do this type of stuff as most links I have tried are either for Windows Forms projects are are way above my knowledge. Maybe someone out there has already succeeded with this sort of activity?
I have Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition. I'm using it to evaluate functionality before purchasing the real thing, but I'm having trouble. I want to build a DLL that can be used on PCs other than my development PC, that I can call from VBScript.
I follow the hundreds of examples out on the intranet and things still don't work.I have built a simple HelloWorld DLL with a function that returns "Hello World".I've been through all the stuff about making the assembly COM visible, and the threads about Register for COM Interop checkbox missing. One person suggested editing the .vbproj file and adding a tag to turn on Regiser for COM Interop (which was not needed because it was already there).
Anyway, if I build my project and run my VBScript:

Everything works great. But....if I copy the DLL to another PC and register it with RegAsm, the VBScript fails with a "File not found" error on the CreateObject line of the VBScript.
In fact, if I unregister the DLL on my development PC and then register it with RegAsm, the VBScript now fails on my development PC. RegAsm said everything was okay and if I look in the registery using RegEdit, things look good, but it still doesn't work. The only way to get it to work again is to rebuild the DLL (which in turn, registers the DLL).
I'd like to be able to build a DLL which I can be registered and used on other PCs (without requiring those PCs to have Visual Studio 2010 EE and without requiring them to have the source and build the DLL).

Why won't the button close the form? I'm puzzled, I tried another button just in case with the same result. UPDATE: I set a break point on Me.Close() and it isn't reaching it when I click the button, I created a new button and the same thing happened.

Its my understanding that by adding the ScaffoldColumn(false) annotation to an property in a class, that property will not added to the view when doing Add View. However even though i have added scaffoldcolumn false to properties i dont want added to a Create form, they are still rendered inthe create view. Is ScaffoldColumn broken? On page 552 in Pro ASP.NET MVC 3 Framework by Freeman and Sanderson, it states "If we want to exclude a property from the generated HTML, we can use ScaffoldColumn attribute. I have an issue with my .NET application and it can only be reproduced sometimes and only on client's location, which makes it extremely difficult to resolve. In the application the forms authentication is used. There is a login page to which every anonymous user is redirected. After user enters username and password, it redirects to DefaultURL or some predefined page. The problem is that sometimes when user enters correct username and password, it doesn't login, instead it just refreshes the login page without any error messages. After several tries of inputing username and password, user is able to login to the system.
