I am still learning about Get / Post statements in VB, and wondering if you have to call the Get commands to images, and what not, or just the main Post / Get statement and the rest will auto-load?
I am an absolute beginner on ASP.net (VB.) Please pardon me if the question is too obvious for the experienced members.I tried to make a simple WebRequest in the async mode in case the target URL takes long to provide the data. In my code below, I just want to see if the callback block (RespCallback) is called correctly every time. If all goes well, lblResult should have the string '123' appended to it every time I click the button which calls the 'GetData' sub.
However, the lblResult only shows 123 after the first click. After the subsequent click, the lblResult only gets appended with '12', as if RespCallback is never called. When I tried to debug this in Visual Studio, the execution actually stepped right into the RespCallback part and the lblResult.Text watch actually shows '123123' but the resulting Web page always shows only '12312'
I am sure I am missing something basic here, but I just don't know what. I was even guessing that it has to do with browser cache (hence the result changes for the second time) but I don't know how to fix that either.
Im trying to create a software which can post into yahoogroups.I've done trying to log in yahoomail but my problem is when I am going to post in yahoogroups, I am turning back in to yahoo log in page.
The current version of my application was using the WebClient object to download files from the internet and all was working well until some users reported that they were getting server timeouts. I looked into this issue and decided to move to the WebRequest object as it allows me to specify a Timeout value. The problem is, when using it synchronously, if I specify a timeout value of -1, I am worried that in the event of some weird server anamoly, my application would hang as it would be waiting for a response that isn't coming. So then I thought of using the WebRequest ansynchronously.
I finally logged in to yahoomail using httpwebrequest. my problem now is how I am going to put a messagebox saying my log in is successful or not. for now im trying to login using a correct username and pass. Here's my code so far.
I borrowed part of this routine to download files, and it works great; except when I download text files the returns aren't written into the outputted file. I've tried different web request and techniques with no luck in solving the problem.
Test file:[URL]
Private Sub DownloadFile(ByRef FileSource As String, ByRef FileDestination As string) Dim request As WebRequest Dim response As WebResponse
I am trying to convert a DLL function call which has the Callback function routine called within the DLL function call. The DLL function call signature is like this:
My name is malky, a programming student currently learning visual basic 2010. I mostly know basic level of programmming (such as playing around with textboxes and such) and for my next project, I need to be able to call an executable file (the On Screen Keyboard to be exact) as my program first loads.
This might be a dumb question, but is it possible to call the beginning of a class from a different part of the same class? Here's the scenario... I have a class which has several subs in it. One of the last subs features a conditional statement. If that conditional statement is true, then I want the class code to be executed again, from the very beginning of that class.
I have a series of WebRequests in my app all formatted like this
Try request.Timeout = 30000 ' Get the response and read it to the end [HTML of a page]
[Code]....
After roughly 250 iterations of about 5-6 WebRequest per iteration, the app hangs and starts hitting the WebException "The remote name could not be resolved: 'hostnamehere' ". WebPages also don't load through my browser when this happens, I have to close the app for my internet to work again. This app is multithreaded and I was testing with 100 threads (in a threadpool, MaxThreadCount set to 20, addressof the sub which performs the WebRequests). A test with 20 threads yielded identical results - Same WebException also right around 250 iterations processing the same sub. I have tried setting the ConnectionLimit of the request to the thread count with no luck.
I am trying to call the below from another procedure in another class. The problem is that I am not passing the right parameters on (apparently). What value (and how) do I need to pass on as e?
I am trying to create a project in VB 2010 like I have in VB6. In VB6 I have a parent form which opens a child form. The child form displays calls (customers) on a spread sheet control that are on hold. The user selects the call in the child form, it calls a sub in the parent form passing a record number to identify the customer. The parent form then "pulls" up the call and and connects the user to the caller with all of the customers information. So, I haven't done this in VB NET and I have searched to see if this would be done the same way in .NET as it was in VB6, but I haven't found much decisive information. Is a parent/child form the way to do this?
I am trying to use httpwebrequest but I keep getting a message that says "Create is not a member of webrequest" every time I try and use the msn example code.
vb Dim myReq As HttpWebRequest = WebRequest.Create("http://www.contoso.com/")
I dont know what i did wrong Here is the code:Im trying to login to uploadee btw, a paid per download site.
Dim Postdata As String = "sec_login=sec_user_in&email_two=" & TextBox1.Text & "%40hotmail.com" "&password_two="& TextBox2.Text & "&x=0&y=0" Dim tempcookies As CookieContainer
[code].....

I am trying to implement the webrequest get and post methods. I am accessing a secure site that requires login authentication and was told that instead of sending a login request all the time; login to the site and capture the cookie and use this to send it in the header to get results from the page. In other words let us use google for example.
Lets say google required u to login before searching for something. Now I login through my browser and leave the site logged in. Now I send a httwebrequest from my program that includes the cookie authentication details in the request header and get results for say ?param=sports. Now when I increment the page number like &page=3, I am still only getting page 1 results. Here is some code:
I would like to search an online (internet) database and import the result in my own Windows program. As I understand from reading and searching I first have to do a get from the default (search) page to get the cookies for instance and then do a post providing the filled input fields and adding the previously collected cookies. So far getting the information seems to work but submitting the data back to get the actual search result doesn't seem to work. This is what I have so far: [code]Anybody that can point me in the right direction? I my assumption correct that I first have to do a Get and then Post the correct data back?
I think this is a simple question for you, but I don't understand other cases of webRequests, so I asked here: How can I make this webRequest asynchronous? Dim sBuffer As String Dim oRequest As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create(url) oRequest.Method = "GET" Dim oResponse As WebResponse = oRequest.GetResponse() Dim oStream As New StreamReader(oResponse.GetResponseStream()) [Code] .....
Does anyone at least have some related links on fetch requests and scraping?I am trying to implement the webrequest get and post methods. I've got an problem with my GUI. My program has to request a couple of websites (POST) and then store the responses in local files. While requesting the sites, a GUI textbox (tbLog) should inform the user, what site actually is being requested and a "STOP" butten should enable the user to stop the whole process. Now, when I start work, the GUI freezes and the user cannot do anything until all websites are done. There is no update of tbLog.text at all and no stop button can be pressed.Me.Refresh() does not help, to.[code]
I have a loop with WebRequest objects which I declare every iteration. I thought it would be more efficient to declare them outside of the loop and only modify the one parameter that changed but it didnt work. Why is that? It seems like the loop acts like a subroutine or other block that kills its objects at the end of each iteration. Is this the case? It seems other global objects like a text box can be modified this way so why not the WebRequest?
I want to write in a csv file that is in an url, but it`s not work look my code:how do i do to write in a file?Dim request2 As Net.WebRequest = Net.WebRequest.Create("http://www.bbb.com/teste_download/dados.csv")
I have a button on a form that is supposed to run an executable (compiled Intel Fortran v11) on the click event. Here is the code:
Private Sub RunButton_Click() Handles RunButton.Click Try System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C: estDir estCode.exe")
[Code]....
I'm certain the path is correct and I have verified that running the testCode.exe from the cmd window works as it should (testCode.out file is updated). When I try to run the process via the RunButton it appears to work...no errors are reported or caught. However, the expected output file is not updated indicating testCode.exe did not execute. All of the online support I have researched indicates this should work.
I have created a Windows Service that I am trying to use to call an Emergency Alert program that checks a database to see if there is an alert to display. This is the Timer in the Windows Service that I call the Emergency Alert program from.
I'm using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express: the C++ and VB versions.
There is some VB code that forms the body of a program, and all the GUI.There is also some C++ code that does some fast processing (lots of loops).
I am trying to call the C++ code, compiled as a dll, using:
Private Declare Sub CalcGraph Lib "Model.dll" ()
And at the moment keep getting the error: Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. Unable to find an entry point named 'CalcGraph' in DLL 'Model.dll'I'm fairly new to programming, so please be patient with me That said, I'm prepared to do the leg-work, and have already spent quite a while reading around on this and other sites. Nothing seems to match quite well enough to help me understand what's going wrong.
