The error message says... "Operator '&' is not defined for type 'DataRowView' and string " "." And the only way I can get it to work is to pull out the & operator and change that line of code to this.

The SelectedItem text shows up in the controls current state while debugging, correctly.. but after I finish the execution it shows up as "System.Data.DataRowView"?

Jun 18, 2012I have a vb.net 2010 form with 22 data bound controls from two tables held in a dataset which is navigated by a bindingnavigator. This successfully adds deletes and updates. However what I need is when adding a new record I need some of the fields to be pre filled out. More specifically I have points balance fields etc which could be any value but will normally be 0 on a new customer so I want to initialize them to 0 when adding new records.

But I want the Cost property to be displayed in a label as I add each item into a ListBox. In context, I add an item from a listbox into another and when I do the Cost of each item will be added into the label. Like a checkout system and that's the running total.

VS 2010 Data-bound Controls Validation?
Aug 24, 2011I'm currently working on a data entry application in VB.NET and I'm using data-bound controls by simply dragging the table from the Data Sources window onto the form. It's my first time doing this, but this will save me quite a bit of time since this table has plenty of fieldsAnyway, my problem is that when I enter an invalid value in a textbox and then delete the text it won't let me select other controls or even close the form!
For example, say I have an Age field in the DB, which is an int and I mistakenly type "," on its textbox. Then I decide I actually want to leave that field blank (considering it allows nulls) so I just delete all of the textbox's contents, after doing so, I'm not able to switch focus to another control or close the form.

Mar 23, 2009I have a DEM file(Digital Elevattion Model File) and I am trying to open the file,where we have Latitude and Longitude values inside the DEM file.And, Now I have opened the file using Filestream and Read the file using BinaryReader.But, I am having a trobule in getting the values of Latitude and Longitude.I am getting Byte values randomly as 1,202,31,271 etc.But, we dont have latitude and longitude values more than 180,and also I am not getting 16 bit UInt values.For example, the values should be like Latitude 20.00416666666667 and Longitude 39.99583333333333.So,read the correct Byte values of the DEM file.The code I have used till now is:

When a new user enters his user name & password, I want to add these on a data table that has two columns: User, Pass. Datagridview Bound To Bindingsource: Displaying Both Old Values And The New Values
Mar 23, 2011I bound datagridview to bindingsource. The bindingsource has its datasource a collection Called Rates which is a collection of Rate items. The rate object has a property called VALUE. I need the user to be able to edit different values for the collection; However, on the datagridview, i need to keep displaying on one column called OldValue the existing Rate value before the change while allowing the user to edit that value in a second column called NewValue.
In other terms, One colum OldValue will keep the existing values from the DB before being edited by the user, this column OldValue is readonly. Another column NewValue will display, the 1st time, the old value from the DB (similar to OldValue when we do the Fetch from the DB), but it`s editable column, so the user can modify each value in the column NewValue without overriding OldValue cells. For now, I bound both columns OldValue and NewValue to the same property VALUE of the Rate object,

Retrieving Values From One Form To Another?

-DoctorAppointment
-DoctorSchedule
the DoctorAppointment form has all the details about the doctor and the patient and one Schedule button which will show the DoctorSchedule form When I click on any value in the DoctorSchedule form like Monday or any other day and click on save button it opens a new DoctorAppointment form and store the Day value in the text box of the form. The old DoctorAppointment form stays as it is but the new DoctorAppointment form that appears after DoctorSchedule Save click it removes all the earlier values (doctor and patient Details) that were present on the DoctorAppointment Form.
I want that after the Save click it should not call any new form instead the Day value should come on the old form including the Doctor and Patient Details.

Jun 23, 2011Im taking over a project that pulls information from a database.Currently I have everything I need except the username.The person who setup the project did it as a web project so he used the MemberShip class to create unique user keys based on the person's username.
The username is not stored anywhere in the database only these userID keys.
The client wants a desktop app that mimics the website behavior of writing to the database.
Problem:I ask the user to enter in a username at the login. The username connects to the database on the server.I have no way of grabbing any user info after this point as the primary key(USERID) is a unique key and not a username. Is there a way to convert a MemberShip ProviderUserkey into a string Username or am I screwed?

Mar 7, 2009Finally got to the point of having a work webservice using php and nusoap. I can retrieve values and send. Now what I want to do retrieve multiple values into a data grid, I think. What I want to do is retrieve various messages specific to that user. At the moment I retrieve values individually but as there may be more than one result I assume the datagrid may be the way forward. Now the question is how can I retrieve this information. Currently my data returns in the following format.

Combobox Taking Values From Another Table Than That To Which It Is Bound?
Mar 18, 2010I have looked all over the web for a way to set up a VB 2008 combobox but what I have seen makes me shudder! I want to , as In Access VBA, set the recordsource/datasource for the combobox i.e. the list shown in the combobox, to the values of another table (currency) and then when the user selects one of these values to store it in the (already) bound field of the combobox (to another table). In Access of course there was a wizard for this sort of thing, but in VB 2008 looks like it is just lots of code.
