WebRequest - Download A Webpage With JavaScript Output?
Jun 23, 2009
I'm creating an application where I want to save a webpage to a file. The webpage has a Javascript function written into it. See below
<html>
<head>
<title>Javascript</title>
[Code]....
There is a reason for this. I will be required to retrieve data from a Javascript API. The API can only display data on the webpage and somehow I have to retrieve it from the webpage.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 but with .Net Framework 2.0. Haven't tried out 3.0 or 3.5.
i am using System.Net.WebRequest.Create(url) to download html code, but it missed some data. if i use IE to view page and click "view source", all data will be showed.
my code:
Dim req As System.Net.WebRequest Dim resp As System.Net.WebResponse req = System.Net.WebRequest.Create(url) resp = req.GetResponse()
was messing around with web controls and making auto login programs and I have been running across many websites that use java script to code their login boxes for some reason. I was wondering how might I edit the values and click on the sign in button if it is inside of javascript?
I've currently got a service that produces xml files every 10 seconds containing server information. I'm looking for a way to display this on a web page. I have been looking on the web for the best way to do this and it seems that using AJAX would be good as it allows the loading of dynamic content to be done in the background. However how can I use AJAX? Should I add a ASP.NET website to my visual studio project? OR should I look to use javascript & AJAX in something like dreamweaver? I'm very new to programming so i only really have a bit of experience in vb.net.
I am new to programming and trying to create an application to login to a website and download a report automatically. I am stuck at the login part. What i have so far:
I am looking to go to a URL/URI download the resulting string as if I had opened a file and then get it out into a String variable.
I have been stuffing about with IO.Stream and Net.httpxxx but haven't managed to get the elements to line up in the right way.
I get "the given path's format is not supported" from opening the page in the standard stream, because it's not in the local file system ... that bit i understand, the bit I don't get is ... how do I achieve the equivelent of:
Public Function GetWebPageAsString(pURL As String) As String Dim lStream As IO.StreamReader = New System.IO.StreamReader(pURL) Return lStream.ReadToEnd End Function
I read the following question to download a web page whose contents is coded in UTF-8. The page is then converted into a byte array, while I'm using a String to read contents from the page.
I need to turn UTF-8 into Latin1/ANSI since that's what RichText and MessageBox seem to use (I'm getting funny characters).
Is there a more direct way to donwload a UTF-8 page and convert it into ANSI/Latin1?
Edit: When callig MessageBox, accented characters are not shown as expected:
Does any one know how to download webpages that have a nonscript tag. I have used httpwebrequest and weclient but I always get the text in the nonscript tag. The only thing that i have gotton to work is the webbrowser but I have encountered many problems.
I am converting an old script from ASP to ASP.NET and would like some advice. The original ASP script used Response.Write to output information about what happened during execution. I have rewritten the entire thing in ASP.NET but it is new to me as an old-school C programmer. The job requirements include using the VB flavor of ASP.NET, btw.
I originally put up a TextBox and edited the text property to dump my final report. Now they want different colors for different message importance and I find that the TextBox can only do one color for all lines. I fell back to the old standby R.W but I get a message that it's not declared and from looking around I see that it's an issue because I'm calling it from the code behind and that is 'out of scope' from the HTML elements of the page itself.
My question is what is the best way to output information to the web page with different lines being different colors from a page's code-behind?
I'm using VB.NET 2008. I am building an application which had a webbrowser named "browser1". When I navigate a URL on it like [URL] it successfully loads the page. I am using the code to inject a javascript file in this page.
Dim mScript As HtmlElement Dim mHead As HtmlElement Dim jsPath As String jsPath = (SoftwareROOT.Replace("", "/")) & "/plugin.js"
[code]....
The code successfully creates the new element. But when it is trying to invoke script (the 2nd last line) then it fails to run the script.
Note: File path is OK.Code successfully works with a local page (like "c:est.html")."plugin_main" is a simple function of javascript alert().
I need to add a clock to a web page. The clock needs to be synchronized with a server but I really don't want to have it constantly check the server as the page will be open 24/7 on several PCs. Is there some way to get the time from the server and then use the systems clock to keep it updated and check the server every 15 minutes or so to keep it synced?
I am *VERY* new to web-scraping and am trying to scrape some information off of a webpage that is heavily javascript enabled. An example of the page I am trying to scrape from is: [URL] I am trying to scrape the property links such as "322 E 98th St" The text appears on the webpage and I can find the link myself, but it doesn't appear in the page source code.
I am trying to scrape it using the webbrowser control using the WebBrowser1.DocumentText property, but it doesn't even show the links simply when I view the source in ie. I am sure this has something to do with the javascript it uses to load up the page or maybe iFrames,
I am working on a task in which I have to download all flash objects swf and flv files running in web page. I have got no clue to find he source of .swf file, as mostly swf files comes from other servers. I want to find out some way to find the source / url of .swf currently running. Kindly suggest me some way.
I have 2 ideas in mind, but currently unsuccessful in implementing them
1. Using WebBrowser class and somehow find url of swf.
2. Using Pcap to fetch all http packets and after decoding, some how try to find url coming.
Probably a simple question but I cant figure it out. I have a webbrowser control, which navigates to a URL where it logs in, then a different URL where theres some information I need. I would like to save this page as an HTML document. I can navigate to the page easily, so is there any way to tell the webbrowser to save the current page as an HTML document?
I have been wanting to make a file downloader (enter the website link, it browses files, with the Filter you give it, then has a download link for each file.) I haven't coded VB since 2006 and can't even remember the basic code.
I'm trying to Download a String from a Webpage, but in order to do that, I need to download the whole webpage. I've found it easier to use DownloadString, but I can not figure out how to process each line of the Downloaded String, as it is one whole string.
In a loop, I need to read a list of URLs from a text file, download the web page, and search for a bit of text using a regex.
I used the following code, with DownloadStringAsync() to avoid freezing the UI, but it triggers the error "WebClient does not support concurrent I/O operations.":
Private Sub AlertStringDownloaded(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs) If e.Cancelled = False AndAlso e.Error Is Nothing Then
I'm trying to import data from our database into the Property Agent module for DotNetNuke. I can do every thing ok except for one issue.
Some units have their images stored as simple urls and those are no problem. The problem I'm having is some of our images are actually retrieved from an aspx page the outputs the image data and the browser displays that.[code]...
I know how to call a simple old fashion asmx webservice webthod that returns a single value as a function return result. But what if I want to return multiple output params? My current approach is to separate the params by a dividing character and parse them on teh client. Is there a better way.
I want to download the same information which is obtained when we right click view page source in browser. I want to do this either in vb.net or perl

Is there any way to do this? I found this:
[URL]
I tried with &username=...&password=... in the URL but it didn't work
I'm using visual basic 2010 express..I'm building my own web browser and want to add a download manager.I have been able to build one that will download a file if I type the file location into a text box.What I'm trying to figure out is how to have the download manager open when I click on a download link on a web page.How to make the download manager know it is a link to a downloadable file as opposed to something like a link to another webpage?
I am trying to automate file downloads. Sometimes I get to a webpage that has a file link to download a file, but it is not a direct link. Instead it is a PHP request on the server side, for the file.
Is it possible to automate this using the webbrowser control, or is there another way I can do this using VB .NET?
