I am building a VB application (Visual Studio 2008). I have a drawing app where a user can draw out a 2d house-floorplan.When the app loads, it draws a grid on a picCanvas. Everything works the way that i want it to except that the lines don't "snap-to-grid" as they are being drawn.I suspect that the problem is in the picCanvas paint sub. [code]

This is simple program, draws a rectangle, marks the x & y axis, & plots a dashed line grid. However, the grid sub has to be called twice - only then will the grid line be visible. Why does this happen?

View 2 RepliesI'm making an application where a user draws a shape on a picture box( this will be saved on a bitmap image), then another user has to draw on that shape (=follow it ) . if the 2nd user goes too far from the line then an error message will appear.
for example( in case i couldn't clarify this well!)the 1st user draws a a vertical line, the 2nd user has to follow it, if-while drawing on it- he gets too far horizontally, there would be the error.
I'm currently thinking of comparing every point by the 2nd user to its equivalent in an array containing the points by the first user.
recommend the cleanest way to save / restore a winform's location and state? For some time now I've been using a method similiar to what I posted below (based on the CodeProject: [URL]..The problem with this method is that when the form loads, it is drawn in an initial location, then moved / maximized afterwards. The effect creates somewhat of an eye sore watching the window draw, then quickly update... but in Vista it is a lot more obvious.
What I would like to do is restore a form to it's previously saved location / state invisible to the user, then show it once it's where it needs to be. Or, just know of the ideal way this is supposed to be done - specifically in Vista.

I'm working on a program (Under Visual Basic .NET 2008) that draws text on a PictureBox using a font that is already installed (registered) in system fonts. I'm wondering how can I perform the same but with a font that is not already installed on system, by adding this font file (*.ttf usually) to my solution explorer and use it in my program, given that this font file must be included in exe file.

This works fine. But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well.

I have developed a program which continuously draws a circle using a timer. Now every time the circle gets displays it flickers and which is because i have used me.refresh. Is there any other way to avoid this flickering.

Thus the subtotal field in the 1st row would equal the sum of the shown quantity field for the entire grid.The next row would include its value and all those beneath it. Its subtotal value would be less than the subtotal of the row above it (by the quantity value of the 1st row). My code for the grid is very simple I just can't figure out how to add this iteration.

View 5 RepliesAs I understood , The property grid is given an object which it can manipulate by extracting its Properties using reflections.
My problem is that I have a set of Parameters that is determined during run-time , thus I can't staticly compose a class with properties to represent this set.
I have two idea in mind to solve this problem but both are complex and will probably consume lot of time , infact i will say they are not practical under my time constraints. One is to use Reflection Emit in order to define a class dynamically and the other is to dynamiclly build a C# source file and then compile it using CodeDom.
Can Property grid behave in a different manner( other then extracting the Properties of an object using reflections ) that can suite my problem?
I want to say that the reason I went to the property grid from the begining was its ability to provide realy nice Data Retrieval UI for common types.For color you autometically get a palette , For dataTime you automatically have a nice calender. I have a FlexGrid control in my Windows application that contains a row of data. The data in this row is related to even more data that won't all fit on the same row. For Example:The main data row contains Username, Last Name, First Name, Middle Name, E-mail Address, Phone Number, etcA secondary row to this might contain user permissions to certain resources, such as File Server Access, FTP Access, Remote Access, etc.Now, I can use the subtotal and outline capabilities of the VSFlexGrid to make a second row, but the column widths are still bound by those set for the main data row. Additionally, I can't put real "headers" on the supplemental data. I have to fake it by creating an additional row, setting the background color of that row to gray, putting the header strings into those fields, and then adding the next row with the actual details.
What I would like to do is create separate grids for these secondary rows and "embed" them in a blank row of the existing FlexGrid control directly under the related main data row. This would give me the ability to use a different number of columns, to format these columns independently of the "parent" FlexGrid settings, as well as put a new header row for the new grid that identifies its data.In other words, I'd like to somehow make a "child" grid that's related to a particular row of the "parent" grid (not the entire grid itself). I don't know if this is possible, and if there is another way for me to accomplish this goal, I'm all ears. However, if it IS possible, I'd love some advice on how to implement it.
Within the program, there is a button that opens a file inside of a second form ( DocViewFrm ) and it works fine the first time around. Within this new window, there is a button that uses Me.Close() to close the window and return to the main window. Upon the attempt to open this second form a second time, the program crashes on the Me.DocViewFrm.Show() line. The error message reads:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.ObjectDisposedException' occurred in System.Windows.Forms.dll
Additional information: Cannot access a disposed object.

I put a shockwave loader into my VB.Net application. When the shockwave loads, it opens about 20 different IE windows and says page cannot be found, while correctly loading the shockwave movie into the application. It's bizarre... how do I fix this? Not even sure if I should post this in this forum or a flash forum.

Mostly it functions correctly but occasionally loads the program twice or even three times thus creating errors trying to open files that are already in use. I seem to remember there is some way to load an .exe once only?
