VS 2008 Displays A List Of Previous Draws

In my application for checking Irish Lottery numbers I have a form which displays a list of previous draws. The form contains a listview which is populated from a setting in my.settings as follows: [code] I would like to replace "Wednesday" with "Wed" before adding the item to the listview. I have tried using strings.replace to acheive this in various parts of the above code but each time the code runs the listview still displays the full day.

recommend the cleanest way to save / restore a winform's location and state? For some time now I've been using a method similiar to what I posted below (based on the CodeProject: [URL]..The problem with this method is that when the form loads, it is drawn in an initial location, then moved / maximized afterwards. The effect creates somewhat of an eye sore watching the window draw, then quickly update... but in Vista it is a lot more obvious.
What I would like to do is restore a form to it's previously saved location / state invisible to the user, then show it once it's where it needs to be. Or, just know of the ideal way this is supposed to be done - specifically in Vista.

I have developed a program which continuously draws a circle using a timer. Now every time the circle gets displays it flickers and which is because i have used me.refresh. Is there any other way to avoid this flickering.

Heres my issue which has been bugging me all day and i haven't been able to resolve.
I have a DGV on a form (frmResults) this is linked to a bindingsource of type InventoryItem (popInventory is a list(of InventoryItem) and popular is a list of another class object (StockItem). here's some code to explain better
first the declarations in my globals module

ok what this routine is doing is on the results form is 2 dgv's the first contains stock to keep, the 2nd one contains excess stock to sell. what i get however is all cells on both DGV's are the last item to be read from the popular list. the items are adding correctly (varified with a breakpoint and looking at variables at the time. the popInventory item is added to the relevent List.

I have a routine that has an if else statement at the else part it calls another routine. Within that routine it has a msgbox script. At the part that is actually is suppose to show the msgbox it goes back to the previous subroutine at the else statement and runs again but this time it displays. I have never seen this before.

I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition - Visual Basic.I'm very new to VB but I would like to create a program / splash screen that displays a list of files (Word, Excel, Project) that are located on a CD. I'm not sure how to start other than starting out creating a new project.
Here is how I would like the program to work. The user inserts a CD-rom (containing the program and a folder with all the files) the program automatically starts up when the CD is inserted and it displays a list of all the files on the CD. The user can click any of the files to start the program that created it. Example, if we have an Excel file called "Work Schedule", the user could click it and it would open in Excel.
After I've created the project and have a form, I'm not sure what tools I need to use to display the list of files.I'm not sure how I set up the connection (path) between the program and the folder containing all files, especially as they will all eventually be located on the same CD.

I have a problem with a generic list, which consists of intances of a class i created. I am just amazed, each time I add a new object to the list, it overwrites the previous entries. Here is a code sample, i just can't beleive it. I am using visual studio 2010:

I'm writing code some that is supposed to be creating a list of objects pulled from a data base. The list returned has every item containing the value of the last one added. When I debug the code is VS2008 I can see each time that the list.add is performed every other item in the list being changed to the one just added. Here is the code I running. The line containing ListAKAs.Add(itemAKA) is the one where the entire list of objects is changed to be identical to the one just added.[code]....

I am building a VB application (Visual Studio 2008). I have a drawing app where a user can draw out a 2d house-floorplan.When the app loads, it draws a grid on a picCanvas. Everything works the way that i want it to except that the lines don't "snap-to-grid" as they are being drawn.I suspect that the problem is in the picCanvas paint sub. [code]

The idea with this form is to add the futures which is calculated when the button is pushed but I need the list to update every time and show the values each time to which the previous value is added to the new calculation, e.g. of what it should look like in listbox:
Year 1: $1,290.93

Ok, I want to create a class that will handle a special rectangle graphic.In my form, I want to have two of these special rectangles.So, basically, I need two instances of that class in my form, right?I manage to initialize two, alright. I'm making an application where a user draws a shape on a picture box( this will be saved on a bitmap image), then another user has to draw on that shape (=follow it ) . if the 2nd user goes too far from the line then an error message will appear.
for example( in case i couldn't clarify this well!)the 1st user draws a a vertical line, the 2nd user has to follow it, if-while drawing on it- he gets too far horizontally, there would be the error.
I'm currently thinking of comparing every point by the 2nd user to its equivalent in an array containing the points by the first user.

I have an Active Directory browser written in vb.net 2008 that allows an end user to visually browse AD. Currently it displays the full DN for each child and what I want is to display just the name of the OU. Something tells me I would use the Tag() function but after playing with it, I just couldn't figure it out. All I removed was our internal domain name.
Would someone like to review what I have now and offer some ideas on what I would change to alter how the tree is viewed while retaining funuctionality?

A form that will display the contents of a folder? I have my forms set up, I want the user to then click on a button that will load up a nw form which will contain a window that is a folder in one of my drives. There may be folders inside this main folder which the user can go into, but they can't go back frrom the original main folder and look at the other contents. First up, Is an explorer form the one I am looking for? Making one of those, it seems to be the right path but where to from there?
Another thing I need to be able to do is have the user double click on the files inside of the folder. When double clicked the folder still maintains its current state, as the files that will be clicked will do the work in the background. I have all the forms set up and linked together, I just need to know how to get this folder into a form..

The dropdown box displays all the items previously added to that column.
I want the user to be able to enter a new value OR just pick a previous value from the dropdown list. (This is when inserting a new row)
Problem:
Whenever I enter a value, it jumps around in my table like its on acid or something. Whenever I select a value from the list, it takes me to the line in which the value was originally entered.
How do I get it to do what I want.
