View 2 RepliesI'm storing images in a List Of Image. When I want to clear/remove all the images it contains should I dispose & set each item to nothing before using .Clear? Or can you just call .Clear? I'm doing it like this for now...
' remove all images in list of image named "images".
For i As Integer = 0 to images.Count - 1
images(i).Dispose()
images(i) = Nothing
Next
images.Clear()
I wish to make a project where a teacher views a list box with a list of students of a class. When he selects a name from the first list box the second listbox would change its data to show the grades for that one student.
View 10 RepliesHow do you change the cursor image to an image from the project resources?
The methods I have found either don't work or only change the image within the form, and reverts back to default when the mouse leaves the window.
Does anyone know if it is possible to resize an imagelist/listview image without repopulating the image list? I am using scroll bar to change the image size from 25 point to 256 point. When I leave the scroll bar the imagelist repopulates from the files list. This can be very slow when working with high resolution pictures. I don't want to limit the image size to 2 sizes by using large and small imagelist.

I have a multi-project .NET 3.5 solution. It's ASP.NET based with c# code-behind in all projects except one.I'm attempting to access members from a C# project called "Core" from a VB.NET project. I set a dependency to the Core solution in my solution properties. However, Core. brings up nothing. Furthermore, my other C# projects that have Core-Project as a dependency (in the solution settings), are able to declare Core objects. Example: Private Core.ObjectName InstanceName; Also, Intellisense brings up plenty of info in the C# projects.how I can hook into these members from my VB project?

I am loading a series of JPG images into an image list then using that to fill a list view. My program is using ALOT of memory by doing this. What would be the easiest way to add the images but take up less memory/time?
View 3 RepliesI'm using VS 2010, and I did a project using VB and a database in Access. The problem is that when I try to put that "application" on other computers, sometimes, is not working. I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. How can I check if my application requires Access to be installed or not?
Here is a example of how I did the connection:
Public AccessOLEDBConnString= "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=" & myfullpath & ";Jet OLEDB:Database Password=password"
Function getConnection() As OleDb.OleDbConnection

And when I want to have access at the data I'm doing like this:
dim conn as Oledb.OledbConnection
dim sql as string
dim ds as Dataset

I have an image list and would like to add a directory of images to the image list in my code. How would I do this? When I run the code:
[Code]...
I get an out of memory exception. Currently there is only 14 images so there really shouldn't be a problem.
1) Add a new record - I can currently add records text to access database, but not images.
2) Get the ID [URL]I'm not sure how to integrate this code into my code. I am stuck here.
3) Save the image in the filesystem using the ID as a filename - I can save the upload an image and save the image to a directory on my computer, but I am unable to name the image that of the ID of the access database.
4) Update the database to put the filename in the record you just created. - I am unable to do this as well (obviously).

This is what I'm sure will be the first of many noob-ish questions from yours truly... I'm studying as a mature student for a Computing Degree (encompassing web design, hardware, programming and systems analysis). The programming seems to be my weak spot this year. I enjoyed C++ last year, doing basic console applications, but progamming visually with VB in Visual Studio 2008 I'm struggling!

I have two projects: SQLtesting and Controls. Their physical locations are:
C:My DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsSQLtestingSQLtesting [forms reside here]
C:My DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsControlsControls [forms reside here]
The code shown below works fine. I run it from the project SQLtesting. It loads a listbox and a checkedlistbox with the controls found on a form. I can change the value of the FormName field to any form within the SQLtesting project and get the form's controls. The forms are not actually opened/shown.I would like to be able to access forms in other projects i.e.
C:My DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsControlsControls
while running the code from the SQLtesting project.

I have a listview control. it has an imagelist attached to it with two images in it. I have entered items into my listview, and they are using the first image in my imagelist.... GREAT! Now, there is a variable I have that will tell me which index in the listview is currently active, noting to do with what I select that could be at another index it's just what's being processed by the program at the time in some task.
Create a function that will change the images of all my listview items by looping through them. If the index variable is set to 2, I want the 3rd item in my list view set to use the 2nd image in my imagelist. The rest of the items in my listview need to be set to the first image in the imagelist.
I want the image to be stored inside the exe file and not taken from the harddrive of the user, what is the right way of doing it ?

View 1 RepliesI have iTextSharp creating a pdf for me in VB.net. Everything was working famously, except now I want to embed an image. I tried this:
Dim test = My.Resources.MyImage
Dim logo = Image.GetInstance(test)
This an error though:
'GetInstance' cannot be called with these arguments
It appears as though it expects a path, and is getting a System.Drawing.Bitmap type.
Is there any way that I can add a project resource image to my PDF?
I need to make an array of images using references to the resources folder. The following is my code which does not work:
Dim imgPictures(8) As Image
imgPictures(0) = Image.FromFile(My.Resources.cat_1.ToString)
How do I reference the images sitting in the resources folder for this task?
I get some very generik trouble need to implement List View with Image in SubItem. All can be very fine ....But I need to use Virtual Mode. Whatever I search I haven't still found working solution's. I have found some C# code that seem's do that. But I can't convert it in VB.Net. let's explain detaly.
