How do I add a opacity option to my custom control... I dont know what to do an I have googled multiple times but it must be possible somehow. but how. Does anyone know how? just for refrence I have no code on this bar my custom control.
View 14 RepliesI need a multiline TextBox which is always disabled, but it shouldn't paint itself in gray, but I want to keep its designer choosen color. I previously had the same requirement with an always-black Label (no multiline) and so I inherited from Label like:

But this way, neither I can set the "real" Enabled property, I mean the backing field.
When I set the opacity of a form to 50%, the opacity of a label on that form is also set to 50%, but I do not want so, is there anyway to make a 100%-opacity-label with 50%-opacity-LabelBackground on a 50%-opacity-form?
View 6 RepliesI have a custom shaped form with a transparency key of black. With the opacity set to 100%, I do not see the garbage around my custom shaped form As soon as I change the opacity, I see a transparent square(my borderless form) around my form.
How do I make it where my form retains its custom shape, and can have an opacity of less than 100%?

I add a button to a form each time the user clicks a menu option as:

This draws a small blue line at the bottom of the button to show it is highlighted. Just like the mouseoverbackcolor property on a button except this will draw the line. It works fine until you slide the mouse very fast between the buttons. It is as if the mouseleave event doesnt always fire.
I have a form with a PNG image as its background image. How can I make the form's opacity match the opacity at different parts of the image? (for example, I have a drop shadow that fades from black to transparent. How do I acheive this effect on a form?)

I'm assuming I need a timer to adjust the opacity some how, but there does not seem to be an obvious opacity property of a user control, unlike a form. I can't use a form, so I have to get the control to do this somehow.

I've been researching for about half an hour now, trying to figure out if it's possible, but I'm coming up short.
I've seen some WPF examples and if it really comes to that, I'm more than willing to change the app from a WinForms app to a WPF app. I've made a WPF app before, so I'm familiar with it. But, I don't want to have to remake my entire project for this one form.
On that note, does anyone know if I can make a WPF form how I need it and just import it into a WinForm app? It doesn't seem possible, but it's better to ask than not. I'll look into this more.

I have a form with multiple checkboxes what I would like to do is to have it that if someone selects any combination of the checkboxes they could save those selections by pressing a button named save options or something to that affect it would then save those selections then they could load them by pressing another button load options and run them with another button named run options (or the box that loads could run too) not sure the best way to do it the goal is ultimately to have a button that allows the state of the checkboxes to be saved and then run as a custom option.

View 8 RepliesI am currently hosting an IE Browser control in a .NET (2.0) Form and using it to load Office files such as Excel and Word thusly:[code]The hosting and loading works well except whenever I navigate to a file I am presented with a dialog that asks whether I want to save or open the file. (This is standard IE file-download behavior.) I always want to open it of course and I do not want the dialog to show.Another issue is that when I close the window that hosts the IE control and the Office doc the document does not close and remains open on disk. This means that subsequent attempts to open the same file via my app or the native office app will fail because of the sharing violation.Is there a programmatic way of avoiding this dialog and cleaning up resources afterward? I am asking for a programmatic answer because web research has only yielded solutions that entail modifying OS-level settings.

I have tried "System.Drawing.Color" I get told it is a type and cannot be used in this context.use System.ComponentModel.TypeDescriptor to convert it to a color and check if it is real and then set it.
Put a picturebox1 on a form2, and paste the following into form2 public class. When you run it you will see nothing untill you force a paint event by mouse dragging the form half off the screen. If you minimize - then maximise - the image dissappears and the picturebox1 does not repaint itself??? I want the picturebox1 to be "auto drawn" somehow.

If you click on any of the Edit Buttons and move the Horizontal Scroll, the values as they change in the Label_Values are off by one when you release the slider button. I think this is a timing problem between the Paint handler and the Horizontal Scroll event handler at the very bottom of the User Control code. Sorry I didn't eliminate

I am using custom textboxes and I need to be able to set the Text on txb1 based on the Text of txb2. I have simplied my code to the following:

Inherits TextBox
Public Event ControlReset()

So, when txb1 looses focus, if its Text is "fried", then it sets off txb2's ProcessAlert function. I had tried to change the value of txb2 Text in ProcessAlert function, but didnt work, so I tried to get it to raise an event instead, which then tries to set the Text property. However I still cant set txb2's Text property. The Text property seems to be set for the duration of the "life" of the Event handler. When I step through the forms controls within the Event handler, the changed Text value is there, but not outside of the Event handler.
What does 'Add To Source Control' do whenever I save a project in VB? Any articles related to this option?
