I need to know if it recompiles my site at all or if there are any issues doing this. I have tested the changes locally and in a test environment and I don't want to do a full deployment for one tiny change. I'm just not familiar with aspx.vb files and how they interact with a website.

I am using one web project in the name of "AAA", it is working fine in the production. I am trying to add two new aspx pages in the existing website without affecting the existing AAA.dll file, so I planned to create a new web project inside the same solution in the name of "BBB". In AAA - I have one web.config, In BBB - web project I have one web.config. In the live I am using AAA's web.config. Here I am trying add the new aspx files and bbb.dll in the hosting place. I'm in the process of globalizing the application and I realized that my resources need to be accessed by all the projects not just the website so placing my resources in the App_GlobalResources folder didn't work. I added my resources to one my class Libraries and now I'm trying to figure out what the best way of accessing the resources are from my markup. When my resources were in the App_GlobalResources folder I was able to access them by using an expression such as this: <$ Resources: MyApp.Name %> for server controls
Or <%=Resources.MyApp.Name %> for plain text
What's the best way of accessing my Resources from my website aspx files now that they are in a Class Library DLL?

View 5 RepliesI am using VB2005 and trying to put an application together.What it needs to do is retrieve information from a binary file, possibly alter that information, and put it back into a new file.The file is a .wav file with data appened to the end. There is an additional section at the end of the .wav file which stores xml data.I have found that if I open this in a hex editor and make a 1:1 swap on any of the bytes that the application that the file is for can still read the XML.If I tried to add or remove characters from the XML then it would not read. I located a header byte and incremented it to resolve this.
This worked as an excellent bandage to do conversions where the data always needed to be changed to the same thing.What I have been asked to do is build logic that allows for different things to happen depending upon what data is contained within the file.The method that I am currently trying to impliment is:
Read through the file with a system.io.binaryreader
Searche for a bytestream that will signal data is coming
For example:

And then extract all the data till the end of element marker "<" It seemed like there should be a better way and I was looking for some insight. If I proceed with this method, I will have to read the file one time to gather the information and then a second time to write it all out with the header modified for length.This is my first experiene with working with binary files in this way.Also,I've been experiementing with building a string and slapping it back in at the end using the binarywriter.write(string) method.I noticed that it was putting in header characters before the string.These seem to change if I change the length of the string.At one point it was d0 07. Later it became e7 07. Does anyone know of a way to prevent this header from being inserted?
I tried a for each loop to grab all of the characters from the string, convert them to a byte array and deposit the byte array into the file, but the header remained the same. When I write the byte array generated from a system.io.binaryreader I do not get this header.

I have two aspx pages. I need to send a textbox(record_id) value as a parameter from page1.aspx to page2.aspx to be utilized within a SqlCommand query in the VB code behind page. I would like to pass this parameter using the session. Page1 is a gridview which displays records from a sql datasource and on the edit button click the user is redirected to page2 which populates several textboxes and drop down lists and allows the user to edit the record.

If Page1.aspx opens Page2.aspx in a window, how can I have Page1.aspx refresh once Page2.aspx is closed?I have a page with data on it and I have a LinkButton set up so the user can edit that data. The LinkButton launches another windowed page with some text fields and a "Save" & "Cancel" button. Once one of those clicks I execute a save and close the window OR just disregard the information and close the window. I was hoping to have the initial window with the data on it refresh once the 2nd window is closed.

Error 5 The name 'txtTitle' does not exist in the current context
It seems that the aspx and aspx.cs files at no longer bound. The only fix I have found for this is to recreate the page and copy/paste my code. how to fix this without recreating the whole thing?
The images on my e-commerce website are watermarked with an aspx script, therefore when you are browsing products, if you want to save the image it saves it as aspx rather than jpg or png. The thing is I need to give urls of jpg for a website that advertises products. There are more than 10,000 products so I can't save all of them manually, so I made a page with jquery that get's the image part of the product display page. What this page returns is this:

And the output is only an image. How can I return this image not as an aspx page but as a jpg or png? Since there's a script for watermarking the image and making it aspx, shouldn't there be a reverse function?

Being the noob I am it took me about 6 hours to figure out how xml works and to write some code for what i need to do.
Here is what i came up with:

That code works fine.Now when i add another column to the datagridview called "update size" i want to know how to add the grabbed data from another sub i made to the new column.What would the code be for adding the strings for the new sub into the seconds column? the first was, DataGridView1.Rows.Add(str)" . So what would the second be ?Also another question i have is how do i put an image in an imagecolumn by a web link, not a local picture.

I wrote an ASPX file in VB.NET. Originally this file ran successfully but after adding one additional parameter it now fails on "Name 'peType' is not declared". This error does not make sense to me though because I have similar parameter, 'dType', which it does not error on. What is the cause of this error?

Essentially, what I'm trying to do is get a list of values out of a database and put them into a bunch of checkboxes. When the user submits their selection of these checkboxes, I need to see what they've chosen.So I have no idea how many checkboxes I'll need, or what the values will be. I will however be listing different categories. I would like the final result to look something like this:
