with an error message that I am getting when trying to retrieved a record from an MS Access database. I am using VB2005My code is brakinh on the following line of {"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."}Here the code that I am using:

when I try and run this code it gives me the error that says "Column 'OutwardsRefNumber' does not belong to table ."BUt I am 100% sure this column is in my table. what can I do to correct it?

When i Click on Add New Record. Then it will auto generate a ID example like 00001. The program will then open the other Fields. After i fill up the form and Click on Submit. It shows the error that my ID is NULL which its not when i look it clearly shows in the form i filled up before submitting.The generated ID on the text box doesn't seem to be forwarded to the database.
ID Data type set in the Database is Numeric(5,0)

I'm testing my program, which uses an access database, and it works just fine on:
Windows XP with .Net Framework 2.0 sp2
Windows XP with .Net Framework 3.0 sp2
Windows XP with .Net Framework 3.5 sp1
But in Windows 7 with .Net Framework 3.5.1 I'm getting an error in the ExecuteNonQuery() line when updating a record in the database.

I know this is an easy answer but I'm having trouble finding it online.
I'd like to get the content of a CheckedListBox1 (or ListBox) by specifying a position on the list. For example, retrive the content of the 3rd item on the list?
I know CheckedListBox1.text will retrive the current highlighted content on the list.
I thought CheckedListBox1.SelectedItems(2).text or CheckedListBox1.SelectedItems(2) was the solution, but it doesn't work.

While I've previously many years of relational databases and procedural languages, I'm stumbling with Visual Basic. In this problem, the simple situation is that I have two files, parent and child. The primary key of the parent file (Area file) is linked by a relation to one of the two fields that makes up the primary key in the child file (Project file) (unique key is formed from 'area' and 'project'). I have the default table adapters created on both files. I have created two maintenance forms showing one each of the two files in datagrid view format.I can create some records in the Parent (Area) file, but when I try to create a record in the child (Project) file, using one of the valid key values from the Area file, I get the 'ForeignKeyConstraint [relation name] requires the child key values [actual value] to exist in the parent table' which I'm absolutely definitely sure it does.
I haven't done any actual coding for those two maintenance forms, just dragged-and-dropped the files from the data sources screen onto separate forms so it creates the controls itself. But I can't work out, if it already knows the data does exist because I can load it back in to the Area maintence form, why it can't check itself to find out the record does exist. Why does it think the record from the parent record doesn't exist? It does exactly the same thing, whether or not the database is in access or SQL Server Express. I have all the latest updates.

I have a problem with my program, and it's really bad because I need to burn it to disk within 12 hours and I can't get it to work: If I create a record, add information to it and click on Next Record, the ID, Status and Notes boxes content will change but the rest of the controls contents are carried over to the next record and I don't know why or how. It was working perfectly but now it stopped and I never done anything.

I have records in a database. Each record has a Picture path in it eg. "C:\Pics\Image1.jpg". I would like to display a record from my database and also the picture for that record, in a .rdlc report in vb .net 2008. i have succeded in displaying the record but just can't get the picture to show. I am using an Imagebox in the report.

I have it mostly working right now, I can edit existing data and have it save to the database so when I re-open the program all the new data is still there. Now I get an error saying "Column 'AppID' does not allow nulls." when I try to create a new record. AppID is a column in the DB that I use to number the appointments. I guess it's looking for this value when it tries to save the new data, and since it isn't a field on the form it doesn't get an entry and fires that message. I've tried changing the AppID column to an AutoNumber field so it generates by itself but I still get the same error.
