Application Provided By A Third Party Facing A Scripting Error?
Jul 31, 2010
We are using an application provided by a third party. We applied their hotfix and are now receiving the error below. So far they haven't been able to provide us with a solution/answer as to why this is happening and how to fix it. They say we are the first customers with this problem.
I thought maybe the .net forum here will be able to guide me on how to solve the scripting error.
We are using an application provided by a third party. We applied their hotfix and are now receiving the error below. So far they haven't been able to provide us with a solution/answer as to why this is happening and how to fix it. They say we are the first customers with this problem.
Compilation Error Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.
Compiler Error Message: BC30560: 'FileSystemObject' is ambiguous in the namespace 'Scripting'.
Are there any third-party scripting editors that are available as controls (DLLs) for custom projects? I am interested in knowing what is out there and what scripts are provided?
We have a small VB.net application that basically pulls information from our dBase and then exports this information to an .xls file. From this .xls file, in house agents then manually update a third party listing service (which maintains our current inventory) with the information contained within. The information is very basic, consisting of, for ease of discussion, a 'Part Number', a 'Description' and a 'Quantity On Hand.'
Normally we update this information once a week, but, a newly revised contract with this listing service now requires a daily update to maintain our 'platinum' vendor status. The problem is that it can take quite some time to manually update this information. an automated process is in dire need. And I have finished most of the ground-work and coding - up to a point. Hence the question, and hence where I get stuck. The listing service has provided us with the following WSDL's: One for Increasing our Inventory, one for Decreasing our inventory, one for Adding inventory and one for Removing Inventory.
Up to this point, I have re-programmed a Stored Procedure that was generating the exported information. this SP now does some internal math to figure out if a transaction result occurring on 'yesterday' was an 'Increase', a 'Decrease', an 'Add' or a 'Remove.' These results are then added to a result table under a newly created column named 'SERVICE.' This new information is then pulled from the dBase with vb.net and imported into a Data Table for analysis.
With this Data Table, I can now loop through each row, looking in the column 'SERVICE' and depending on the information contained in that cell, call the appropriate web service.
[Code]...
I realize that this has become quite long winded, mostly because on any given day I have 25 FF tabs open and none of them agreeing with each other. To add another wrinkle; the WSDL's in question use a lot of complex types within complex types with, you guessed it, other complex types entwined.
I would like to add some scripting support to my .NET-application (I usually code in VB.NET). Since VisualStudio 2008 won't let me use VSA to get scripting support, and the Windows ScriptControl crashes in 64-bit mode, I have been looking for an alternative solution to my problem.I would really like to be able to code the scripts in VBScript or VB.NET, because of the simple syntax.Would it be possible to implement some kind of sandbox inside my application to make it run a VB.NET application inside itself? Or is there any simpler way of getting scripting support?
The software company I work for offers data conversion as a service for new clients who have previously used other similar software. I've written a VB.NET application to automate common conversion operations, and have separate logic between known vendors.particular file layout has become rather common, but due to the nature of how this particular competitor's application stores information, certain fields mean one thing for one client, and another for a different client.Certain elements within this vendor's format change every time, so I've written the application to account for that. Because some data fields mean different things to different vendors, I have to change my mapping code every time. This wasn't an issue when I had one of these every six months or so, but these are becoming much more common and I would much rather find a way to further automate this process.
Ok this is how it is, I have my main app form, and from there I open another seperate form for scripting, but they are both open at the same time, when I run a script from the scripting form, it interfers with the main window form code that's running, I'm guessing they are both running in the same thread or whatever, how do I fix it? I've tried using thread commands but obviously it's not working,
I have to implement OO scripting in VBS/JS, wondering what's the best way to do that.he scripting engine has to be able to create new methods for existing object in the application and allow calling the methods in other existing objects.
I want to allow the user to write a little script (JScript, VB, whatever) with a function called by my application that returns an XmlDocument object (a string would be ok).I did some research, and it looks like the scripting engines are obsolete.
The best solution I could find is here: [URL]..But I was wondering if there is a better and more "official" way.
I would like you all to give me some links about embeding scripting languages and I would like to ask if it is possible to embed Ruby into a Vb.net application. I only know Vb.net c# and ruby and would prefer not to have to learn c/c++ (even though i probably will have to in the very far future).
I am writing a small application that will display some info to my end user. I have another program that the end user will have open while running my appplication. What I am trying to do is have my application launch itself (and maintain positioning if other app location changes) and "tether" itself to the other application.Ideally the top left of my application would attach to the top right of the other application.I have tried for countless hours working with the GetWindowPos API but the values returned are either all zeros or it just doesn't work.I do a Try/Catch to see if the other app is running and I fetch the Handle of the process. This works fine. Then I try to get the positioning of this process and set my .Left property to the returned RECT's .Left property. no dice. This is Visual Basic 2005 ExpressOther application is a PuTTY window that is not a fullscreen app.
The error message that I've been getting for the past few months when trying to access functions of a specific third-party .dll using vb.net is this: "An unhandled exception of type 'System.AccessViolationException' occurred in test.exe Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."
I've been researching this error message, and I have come to know that it is likely due to either attempting to access memory that isn't available or due to "enhanced" security features.I am trying to access a third party .dll. The functions in that .dll all deal in one way or another with Handle types (either returning them or accepting them as parameters). I understand that handle's can be essentially pointers to pointers (pointing to an entry in a memory table, which is itself a pointer), and I also understand that handle's don't, strictly speaking, exist in the .NET framework, but I do understand that through some combination of IntPtr's and possibly the Marshal class, they can be dealt with.
I don't believe vb.net's lack of a Handle type is the problem, because the dll function that I am calling, which on success returns a handle, returns a number <= 0 if the ip address it is searching for is not found, and the ip I specified doesn't exist. Also, the error really only occurs when executing the code from within the the Visual Studio environment. I compiled the executable and ran it 77 times(literally), and I only got the error on the 77th try.
I'm trying to find out all I can about this error. I would like to completely eliminate it. Could the error come as a result of something happening within the dll itself? The function asks for an ip address, and the ip address I have specified doesn't currently exist on the network, but as far as I know, the function handles that by returning a number less than or equal to zero. I am very confused as to what the problem could be. I have successfully interfaced with .dll's before. I've read about the hotfix for .NET 2.0 regarding this error message, but I'm a little skeptical. I've tried everything else I can think of, though, so I may give that a shot.I'm 100% certain that:
-I am calling the correct function within the .dll
-I am using a signature that matches the signature of the function
-The error has nothing to do with User Account Control.
The code is very simple to try to isolate the issue:
Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices Module test <DllImport("3rdparty.dll", EntryPoint:="#12")>[code]......
We would like to know if there are any recommended tools in .NET that can scan through a VB .NET project & do an analysis. It should report on the Lines Of Code, provide no. of Routines, No. of 3rd party Tools, No. of Variables, Forms Diagrams, No. of Classes etc.
I am trying to write an application that will get the X and Y coordinates of a 3rd party application like Notepad or Word in VB.NET, but I am unsure how to accomplish this. I know some VB.NET but I am still a novice.
I want to read the data from the following website:[URL]..I have attached an image the details, from which I wish to read the data: getting the details as mentioned above?
And also let me know how the data is supposed to be extracted every time when required.I will be using this XML data in VB10. This will simply allow me to create a widget that will show me the cricket score update that frequently.
I am trying to read text from a 3rd party application. I can create a catalogue of all possible letter variations. I can store every possible character I encounter as a small bmp, or perhaps as an array/matrix of pixel values. For example:
the letter "I" could be represented in a 10x5 array or matrix as above. Where x represents a wildcard pixel value, but O represents the expected/pre-defined RGB value.
I want to search specific areas of the screen, pixel by pixel where I expect to find the information I'm after. And convert this to usable information. What method gives the best trade-off for simplicity and speed? And how can I implement this method? How do I search for a bmp within a bmp at specific coordinates?
what third party software is around that I can use in my VB web application to 'call home' to my website to get a registration key.I saw something that did this a while back but can't remember what it was called.
i have developed windows application using VS 2005 to print PDF documents using third party software PDFCreator. This application is working fine in my system but when i try it another system its not working and there is no error thrown as well.
Sample code which i use in my application is given below:
Dim PDFCtrl as new PDFCreator.clsPDFCreator PDFCtrl.cPrintFile("c:file1.pdf")
I have a self-hosted WCF service (VB) residing on a server. This service has a method, which I call from another application, that is supposed to kick off a .cmd file which calls a 3rd party program.
My WCF has used both the old Shell() command and the Process() object. Both can call the .cmd file (located on the server's local drive). The .cmd file looks like this:
CODE:
Now I know the .cmd file (saved as Letter.cmd) is firing because when I check the txt file after testing my app, the before/after statements have been written. However, the 3rd party application does not start.
Now the weird part -- if I double click the cmd file from explorer, the test statements are written to the text file AND the 3rd party application kicks off. Runs great.
I've double-checked the application and corresponding files to make sure NETWORK_SERVICE has permissions and my service is running under that account.
I am developing an application that uses Sendkeys function to output data in another application such as Notepad. But if the user changes the regional settings some characters like "/" change according to the language. Can I retrieve and set the regional settings of another application such as Notepad ? Is there another way to do that ?
I am trying to figure out the right steps to have an installer for my application. My application is dependent on a 3rd party software application and obviously needs to be part of the installtion process. I am able to utilize the features of the 3rd party software via ActiveX control or COM.
1. What options do I have for sucessfully installiing theses softwares?
2. I have noticed there is "Interop.3rdPartyApp.dll" in the "release" folder. How do I use this? Where can I get more details on this file?
IDE: VS 2005 ProLanguage: VBI am trying to figure out the right steps to have an installer for my application. My application is dependent on a 3rd party software application and obviously needs to be part of the installtion process.
I am launching a 3rd party application from my windows form System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:Program Filesabcabc.exe") There is a "SAVE" button and a tool bar on the is application. Is it possible to click the button on this application as soon as it is launched or click (Alt + F) on the toolbar programmatically without clicking the mouse or keyboard.
Whenever I run my service it never responds, I know it isn't the service as I have one similar running in a different aspx file running. I've looked into it and it's something to do with the web.config file but I don't know where. I was given a small web config file however when you put it in the place it says it doesn't like one specific line of coding in it. This is the error I am getting:
I want to access a 3rd Party application in the background with the SendMessage method. It just needs to send a "space" to the software to trigger an action. It is important that this is done in the background because its a periodic event (ca. every 10 seconds), and it should be possible to simultaneously work on the same machine.
I tried to use the same approach which is shown in [URL]
The code I used is as follows:
Const WM_CHAR = &H102 Const BM_CLICK As Long = &HF5& Private Declare Function SendMessage Lib "user32" Alias "SendMessageA" (ByVal hwnd
