Asp.net - Dropdownlist Autopost Back Remembering The Selection?

I would like to change the dropdown list and whenever I make some changes it should auto post back and triggers a selectedindexchanged event for drop down list. I am having problem where it does auto post back but doesnt remember what I selected, it refreshes my page and item that i selected gets lost. I would like to do this without AJAX call. But, if AJAX is the only option, I am open to it.

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and ASP. NET 2.0 with this program. This is written in VB.net
Right now, we've got a Gridview that is embedded and databound into another gridview. The 2nd Gridview is hidden by default and expanded by the user. Within the 2nd gridview are several DropDownLists. The problem is that these DropDownLists are not firing the OnSelectedIndexChanged functon nor AutoPostback whenever I change the selecteditem.[code]...

I want to be able to change an image depending on what is selected in the drop down box. I have this JS code to change the image. Simplified of course.

In my project when someone logs in I refresh the overhead and side menus. My overhead menu is an extended menustrip component that I have made. I am able to clear the menu, reload it dynamically but I am not able to add/insert the open windows which are managed by the mdiwindowlistitem property. These are the items named "1 - form name " "2 - form name" etc.
I have been able to copy the whole dropdown list, and with some very hacky loop work I can take out everything but the items related to the forms. But when I add them back in, they are not on my list. The related forms are still open and if you click the maximize button to shrink a open child window, and then re-maximize that same window...the items magically show up in the list.
This ManageMenus sub is called during a login change. If you breakpoint on "openwindowslist" after it is returned with data, it has the proper entries and nothing extra. It just seems that the for/each add loop does not actually add the items. Or, if it does add them, I can't see them.
Tried both insert and add functions, same results both ways.

My DGV has row BackColors set to various colours based on business logic. When a user selects the row the colour changes to the selected row BackColor thus obscuring the pre-set colour. I would like to preserve the original colour when a row is selected and indicate selection with (perhaps) a bold border around the selected row.
EDIT :To make it clear, this is a WinForms app.

I have default.aspx used masterpage, in master page i have a control called DefaultMenuContent, this control have a dropdownlist with autopostback, the problem is loosing the selection even if i use Is Not PostBack in control's load event, how to persist the dropdownlist selection?

I have a window having 2 dropdowmlists(schemename-SN and propertyno-PN) , one chkbox ,one "VIEW" button.SN has options "all" with value=0 and many other options with respctive values.Now,i want the code should behaves as follows:
1.0n window onload, SN must b visible bt PN nt.
2.if i select SN other thn All...the PN shud b visible and if i select "All" ,PN hides.
3.when check box is checked- PN hides,and if it is unchecked- PN visible..
Important:-This whole ddl n chk box are in updatable panel,button is nt in that.I want a browser compatible code so javascript can't b used directly(cz they give problem in mozzila and chrome).Right now, i have done this JavaScript and its is working fine.

How can I get my app. to remember a path to an folder that has been enterd into a TextBox?
on Form1 there is a SettingsButton, clicking it opens a SettingsDialog, on the Dialog I have a TextBox.
Dubble bclicking on the Dialog opens a FolderBrowserDialog, in that Dialog I select D:My DocumentsTest Pics or enny other folder by clicking on OK that path is desplayed in the TextBox.
If the SettingsDialog is closed or the app. is closeed the contens of the TextBox is lost.

1- Is there a way I can just elevate just to complete the one task?
2- If I can not elevete to complete the one task, and have to eleveate to whole program, how cann I eleveate the program and have it remember which tab the user was on, and possible what items where selected in a listview box.

I'm working on program that has two forms. The main form is called 'frmMain'. Second form is called 'FrmHistory'. In the History form, you can check a number of combo boxes to set settings for a grid.
This works.Now, when I close the FrmHistory form and then open it again, I have it so those combo boxes (Settings) are how I left them. This works. I do so via this.

I've been working on a little project recently which is a music player (unoriginal I know, but I'm just learning ). Basically, I want the items that have been added into the listbox to be remembered for the next time the application is opened so that you don't have to re-add the items. I have found a couple of examples on the internet to do this but really struggling to get it working in VB. (Tried a converter but had mixed results) I need the selection options of a Dropdownlist to be populated based upon the differing values in the first dropdown list.

I have a search page with a couple of pulldowns. Dependig on the values of them I show a grid matching the searched criteria, basically a table with links the user can navigate to. My problem comes when the user wants to navigate back. At the moment I have a "Back" button which simply redirects the user to the initial search page. I think it would be a good improvement to have the values of the pulldowns filled in with the values the user selected, this way when he presses the "Back" button he would not have to restart the whole search process again.

I have a weird question and I honestly hope you understand what is happening here: I design my form (using VB.NET) and put on it a few textboxes, comboboxes and a listview. After the design, I want to adjust the TabIndexes for each control on the form. On the right-hand side of the interface is the property box.
I then select the 'TabIndex' property item and enter a number key (for instance 0) for that selected item. I then select the next textbox control and enter the next number (for instance 1) WITHOUT re-selecting the 'TabIndex' property item. As soon as I select the combobox or listview control, the currently selected property item jumps to 'Items' or 'Collections' and does NOT remain on the 'TabIndex' property item. Why is this happening? Everything worked fine and all of a sudden this starts happening. Should I reset the editor settings or how can I resolve this matter?

We have a server application and a client application that communicates with each other using socket.
When the server application sends 2 messages about 16-31 ms apart, the 1st message is received by the client application with little delay (like 16-32 ms after it was sent). But the 2nd message is received by the client application a lot later (like 200 ms later) than when it was sent.
We already disabled Nagle algorithm (set NoDelay = True) in the socket in both the server and client application.
