I am trying to output the email address of the current user through an Outlook addon. I haven't been able to get any other examples to work. The closest I have come is:
I wouuld like to open outlook with new email with provided subject line, body message and attachment but no email address. User will enter the email address and click send . How can I do this?
I used following code but it gives me error for to address
What I would like to do is create a command button that launches an email from outlook attaching the current word document to a set email address. I'm not fussed if the word document is saved or not as it is only the email receipent that needs it, likewise I don't mind if the code instructs the email to send of just opens it ready to be sent.I have read through loads of forums and tried loads of codes but cannot get any to work.
I have a vb.net 2008 form that sends and email along with an attachment.
I want to offer up a list of available email address to choose so my user doesn't make a typo.
Problem is the email addresses are not part of any GAL / group because they are from outside the company. However if my user begins to type the email address such as xyz outlook begins to make suggestions such as xyz@anothercompany.com; xyz@noinagroup.com because my user has either sent them an email in the past or recieved one. Or if the user types a name outlook will suggest. Jon Doe Jon D. Doe
My question, where does outlook keep this list and how can I retreive it using vb. I know how to get the Global Address book and the other contacts but I need the list of emails that are not associated with any groups but are in outlook.
I know, it's a bit weird asking for a query to tell me my own email address right, I'll explain further...
I'm writing a COM add-in for Outlook 2007. One of the subs generates and sends an email to a particular address and this all works fine. However I have a need to have an option for the sender to be able to include themselves on the recipients list.As more than one person will be running this I cannot just set the sender's email address manually and would prefer to just add a check box on the form to enable this feature.
The only bit I'm stuck on is working out how to find the email address of the person sending the email. I could do it with an AD query against the logged on user but this needs to work for non-domain users also so need another method.
In member register page, I added email address validation but it only check the email address format, such as .com, .net, .org.If user inputs fake account such as aaabbb01010@gmail.com, how to verify it and return an error?
I work for a somewhat large company. There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts. This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file. The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.
If i use this code to send an e-mail with outlook (2010) from my vb.net app (2008):
Dim app As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application Dim appNameSpace As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._NameSpace Dim memo As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.MailItem app = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application
....
I get an error. It's work fine, when outlook is not running.
I am sending an email with an attachment using the following Code
Dim msg As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage(req.EmailFrom, req.EmailTo) Dim att As New System.Net.Mail.Attachment("C:Documents and SettingsmichaelrDesktop1216259.pdf") With msg .Attachments.Add(att)
....
The file size of the attachment is 396KB, upon the recipient receiving the email outlook shows the file size as 543Kb. Strange thing is if I send an email with the same attachment using outlook the file size is 396Kb.I understand that file sizes can increase due to the attachment being base 64 encoded as opposed to just raw binary. What I am failing to see is why outlook send a file which is 396KB in size but in code when sending it, the same file is 543Kb.
I have to make a basic program that: Create a program with a simple interface that
1. Asks the user type his/her email address into a textbox.
2. When the user clicks the "Evaluate Email Address" button, one of two message boxes pops up: "That is a valid email address!" with an "Information" icon, or "That is an invalid email address!" and on a second line, "Please retype your email address.", with an "Exclamation" icon
3. To be considered valid, the email address must -include an "@" symbol, and -it must end in either ".com", ".net", or ".org" or ".edu" (I don't know how to check a string and test if its last four characters end with any of these and make it say not valid email address. I think I might have to use a case statement)
im using vb8.net im struggling to make a program that will display email addresses so in other words if im using ms outlook then by the click of the button the program must go in to the windows registry and then look in the place where the email address is and then read that part and display the address in a text box.
i can send email through vb.net behind code but how do i implement so that the recipient cannot see the sender email and only the name?i had done alot of research but i can't find any solution about this problem
I am sending an email using VS2010 VB which works fine, except I would like to have the recipient see their name in lieu of their email address upon receiving the email. I've tried different 'To' addresses, (), but nothing seems to work. It always shows the email address when received.
The problem is if I send more than one email to myself my email address keeps repeating itself in the "To" box. If I send an email to myself 3 times, the 3rd e-mails "To" box will say:
I need to be able to get the current users LAN id using VB.NET and then use this info to pull out the phone number and full name and perhaps other dept info from the address book in outlook. The application I am building is web based in VS 2008, and the users will access the site once they have logged into the companies network. So I need to obtain their LAN ID. They will then be able to send an email using the smtp client. I need the email to send the lan ID of the person as well as include the address book info in the subject. how to use the smtp client.
I have an Outlook add-in that I started in VS 2010, and have no idea how to go about the following. The plugin should save the an email after you send it. I.e. after you create a new email and you click on the send button I would like that email to be saved as an .msg file.
The plugin should save the an email after you send it. I.e. after you create a new email and you click on the send button I would like that email to be saved as an .msg file. Now I can get a selected file (i.e. from the inbox or folder) to save from the plugin but dont know how to go about saving the email that I just sent. It's mainly to make sure that I have a copy of the email if I accidentally delete it.
I have a script that sends an email via Outlook 2003 (below) The script works fine on 9 out of 10 PC's There is a specific user, however, that it is not working with. When the user executes the code, the message ends up in the "Sent Items" folder in Outlook but the message does not actually send. The only thing I can see that is different from the other users is that there is nothing in the "From" field in the sent message when it should be the email of whoever is sending. All users are on Exchange server.
I am trying to search my GAL, as my GAL contains over 300k names its not ideal to load the complete list. Now, I found some code on MSDN which allows me to read the GAL, but I can figure out how to search. I would need to use a similar to the SQL LIKE% as there multipul exchange users with the same surname.
MSDN Code.
Dim itemx As ListViewItem ' Create an Outlook application. Dim oApp As Outlook._Application = New Outlook.Application()
I am trying to create a standalone tool that has a subject and body which will then send an email through outlook automatically without the user needing to do it through outlook.
It is to be used in a company with networked systems running 2000 outlook.
There are options on reportviwer that enables a printing, export to PDF and so on. Is it possible to add a icon for email thru outlook for with pdf file ?
I'm developing an application that sends notifications using local outlook. The notifications stopped working after an update to windows, I tried to revert the system but it doesn't solve the issue.
Currently I am doing a project that requires me to "listen" for new emails coming in MS Outlook. I have code that currently works to do everything else with the emails, but I'm not sure of the API/VB code (this is MS Access 2010 which uses VBA 7.0 running on a 64-Bit Windows machine) that will listen for new emails.
I am currently trying to read from outlook 2007 and load into a datagridview however it always crashes when it reach the 28th email on my outlook. Wondering if it's because it was a long email?
